The Most Strongest Transcendent Ever
Chapter 10: On The Brink Of Death
Midorino slowly opens her eyes to the golden rays of sunlight filtering through the cracks in the walls of their home. "Big bro?" she calls out softly, her voice laced with concern. She glances around the room, searching every corner for any sign of her older brother. "Where are you, big bro?" The uncertainty gnaws at her heart.
Her gaze lands on a gaping hole in the wall that leads outside. Taking a cautious step forward, Midorino follows the path through the hole, her curiosity mingling with anxiety. "Big bro...?" she murmurs, hesitating for a moment on the threshold before stepping into the unknown.
The scene that greets her is one of utter devastation-a massive crater has formed in the ground, a stark contrast against the summer sky. Panic grips her heart as a chilling thought crosses her mind. "Don't tell me... big bro is...?" Without a moment's hesitation, she sprints toward the edge of the crater, her intuition telling her this isn't good.
When she peers over into the cavernous hole, her breath catches in her throat. There, lying motionless, is her brother. "Big bro?" she cries out, anxiety surging through her body as she rushes to him. She drops down beside him, desperately checking for a pulse. "Oh thank God! Don't ever scare me like that again!" she pleads, her voice tinged with relief. But all she receives in reply is silence.
Suddenly, her eyes widen with disbelief as she witnesses an astonishing sight-her brother's wounds begin to stitch themselves back together, the flesh mending as if time itself were rewinding. "Just who are you, big bro…?" she whispers, a sense of awe replacing her earlier panic.
Slowly, I open my eyes, the world coming back into focus. "What are you doing all the way out here?" I ask, my voice calm, though laced with curiosity.
Midorino's brow furrows with worry as she explains, "I thought you weren't there, so I looked for you, big bro. I thought something terrible might have happened!"
I reach out and gently pat her head, letting the comfort of our bond wash over both of us. "Cheer up. I'm here now, aren't I? That's all that truly matters."
With a brightening smile, Midorino envelops me in a warm hug. "You always know how to cheer me up, big bro…"
As we share this moment, my attention is drawn to a shadowy figure lying unconscious a few feet away. "We should probably take care of him, huh?" I suggest casually, my demeanor remaining calm amid the chaos.
She nods earnestly, "You're right, big bro."
I hoist the unconscious figure onto my shoulder, leading the way to the basement, Midorino trailing closely behind. The weight of the man is heavy, but I manage with surprising ease. Once in the shelter of the basement, I tie up the shadowy figure with thick chains, ensuring he won't escape this time.
As I step back, the shadowy figure stirs, awakening with a start. "It's you again! What do you want?" he growls, a spark of defiance in his eyes.
Keeping my voice steady, I return, "Who sent you?"
Just as the figure opens its mouth to answer, a sudden crash interrupts us. A figure bursts through the window, shrouded in darkness, with striking black and red hair and eyes that gleam like rubies. "Akaikami," he introduces himself with a smirk, "hate to crash your little party, but the boss sent me to retrieve you." In an instant, he breaks the chains binding the shadowy figure, unleashing him from captivity. "See ya later!"
With that, Akaikami grabs the shadowy figure and, with an explosive burst of power, they soar through the roof, disappearing into the sky above.
"Stay here, Midorino," I instruct, my voice steady, though a sense of urgency stirs within me.
"Alright, but you have to be careful, big bro," she replies, her worry evident.
"Don't worry about me," I assure her, my confidence unwavering as I leap through the gaping hole in the roof, soaring into the vast expanse of the sky.
Watching them vanish into the distance, Midorino sighs, "If only you knew, big bro… I'm worried because he seems stronger than you."
Determined, I chase after them from roof to roof. "Where do you think you're going?" I call out, my voice echoing through the air.
Akaikami suddenly blocks my path, his figure casting an imposing shadow. "You're not getting past me," he claims with confidence.
I raise my hands in a gesture of challenge. "Come on, then."
With a sinister grin, Akaikami replies, "I'm glad you asked." He lunges forward, unleashing a flurry of blows aimed at my gut. Pain radiates through me, and I cough up blood, the warm crimson splattering against the concrete.
My eyes widen in shock, but I strive to maintain my composure. "You're stronger than I expected," I admit, though my voice remains steady.
"Take this!" I counter, clutching my gut in an attempt to recover. Gathering my strength, I deliver a sharp front kick, striking him from behind.
Akaikami simply grins, unfazed. "Is that all you've got?" With an effortless motion, he catches my kick mid-air and, with a fierce tug, he pulls my legs out from under me, sending me crashing to the ground with a punch that sends me hurtling through walls, the world collapsing around me. I slam into the debris of a building, my body battered and bloodied.
With an unsettling smirk, he declares, "It's over." Stomping down on my gut, he shatters the remnants of the building, dust and rubble cascading around us.
Lying there motionless, I feel the world around me fading into darkness. Memories, too blurry to grasp, start to flash through my mind-faces, laughter, and moments of joy. Then, amid the fading blackness, a figure materializes before me, an enigmatic silhouette cloaked in the cosmos, its form shimmering like a starry sky. "Just who are you?" I manage to breathe out, curiosity piercing through my daze.
A familiar voice echoes in my mind, "Who I am is not important. Soon you'll know in due time, but first…. you are on the brink of death, which would pose a problem for me. So get up!"
Akaikami smirks, chuckling as he walks away, believing he has won.
Abruptly, a blinding yellow light erupts in the sky, a radiant energy that stretches toward the heavens. A majestic aura envelops me, infusing my being with strength. My eyes shimmer with a vibrant yellow, and my hair transitions seamlessly from black to white, an ethereal transformation taking place.
Rising to my feet, I feel my wounds healing with a surge of power coursing through me. "Explain this," I command, my voice now carrying an undeniable authority. "And where do you think you're going?"
Akaikami's eyes widen in shock, disbelief written across his features. "Just what is happening here? I know I shattered your body! How is it that you can still stand after everything I did to you? This is unacceptable!" he growls, clenching his fists in a mix of fury and surprise.
As the air crackles with tension, the stakes have never been higher, and it becomes clear-this is just the beginning.
To be continued…
