Sonia's POV
I walked aimlessly through the streets, my fists buried in my pockets, my heart knotted with frustration I couldn't untangle.
Anger was heavy in me. The anger at the café humiliation, at Mark's nerve, at my mother's voice already echoing in my head. But more than that, a bone-deep ache for one person who could understand.
Lily.
I'd tried to be strong, tried to face everything on my own. But tonight, all I wanted was to talk to her. To curl up on the floor of her small apartment, complain, cry, maybe even laugh at how cruel life could be. Lily always had a way of listening without judgment, of making my problems feel lighter.
But Lily wasn't here.
My phone buzzed. I pulled it out and froze when I saw my mother's name flashing on the screen.
The message was short.
