c84 — Lin Yi's Defeat
"Golden Refrigerator, you talk too much nonsense! You haven't completed the transformation yet, and I'm bored!"
Although Lin Yi was complaining, the moment he felt Frieza's killing intent rising so much denser and sharper than in his fourth form he instinctively increased the energy circulating through his own body, forcing his aura to flare violently in preparation.
A few seconds later, after the dazzling pillar of golden ki spread out like a miniature sun just as described in the Dragon Ball Super manga Frieza's body, covered in metallic gold with a glowing purple sheen, appeared before everyone. His eyes bore that same ruthless, cold amusement he'd shown against Goku in Resurrection F, and Lin Yi finally understood why his father mockingly referred to him as a "Golden Refrigerator."
Seeing Lin Yi's expression freeze for a moment, Frieza naturally assumed the boy was overwhelmed by the intimidating aura of the form he'd achieved after months of rigorous training. His anger eased slightly, replaced by arrogant satisfaction.
But before Frieza could enjoy that feeling, Lin Yi suddenly clutched his stomach and burst into laughter.
"Haha! So that's it! No wonder Dad calls you Golden Refrigerator your transformation literally looks like gold spray paint!"
"You insolent brat! How dare you mock the pinnacle of my evolution?! Die!"
Frieza's briefly calmed rage instantly roared back to full strength. In the blink of an eye moving with the same instantaneous speed he displayed when overwhelming Goku in his first Golden Form debut he vanished and appeared directly in front of Lin Yi.
"So… so fast!"
Lin Yi couldn't track the movement at all. Before he realized what happened, Frieza's fist smashed deep into his abdomen. Even with his Super Saiyan 3-level power, the durability he relied on couldn't withstand the punch. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth he hadn't even seen Frieza throw the blow.
"How…? He just changed color how can he be this strong?!"
No. 18 watched with a serious frown. "Frieza's strength has increased dramatically. Lin Yi might be in real danger!"
But Lin Hao, standing calmly, didn't show fear. "Don't worry. If Lin Yi faces true danger, I'll protect him. I won't allow Frieza to harm him."
Wiping away the blood, Lin Yi forced himself to steady his breathing. He knew Frieza's Golden Form was powerful, but he hadn't expected such an absurd gap Frieza's ki control and explosive speed felt far beyond anything Lin Yi had prepared for. Still, he refused to admit defeat. With a shout, he powered forward, sweeping a heavy kick toward Frieza's head.
But Frieza only smirked. His superiority was absolute, just like when he dismissed Goku's early strikes in their first clash. He casually lifted a hand and caught Lin Yi's attack without moving his feet.
"How is this possible? He's so much stronger than before… way more than a simple transformation boost."
Lin Yi's thoughts spun as he attacked, unable to reconcile the difference.
"What's wrong, little Saiyan? Is that all your strength? How utterly disappointing. If this is the best you can do, then perish!"
Frieza struck with his left fist, then spun around, lashing Lin Yi with his tail just like his classic brutality from Namek sending the boy crashing across the ground.
"Agh! That hurts!"
As Lin Yi flew, Frieza didn't give him the slightest chance to breathe. He instantly closed the distance and delivered blow after blow in rapid succession, each strike fueled by Golden Form efficiency and precision.
Within seconds, Frieza's relentless assault overwhelmed Lin Yi completely, knocking him out of his transformed state. Then Frieza planted a powerful kick into his ribs, sending him plummeting downward.
"Hmph. That's the extent of your power? Pathetic. I'll send you to the underworld myself!"
Raising one finger, Golden Frieza formed a small red light just like his Death Beam-based techniques but in an instant it expanded into a massive, violent energy sphere.
"Death Energy Bomb!"
"Die, Saiyan brat!"
Frieza launched it with a flick of his finger, grinning with bloodlust.
"No! Lin Yi's going to die! Uncle Piccolo let's go help him!" shouted Son Gohan, watching the incoming attack.
Piccolo held out an arm to stop him. "Calm down, Gohan. Lin Hao is here. He won't let his son die."
Although Piccolo felt the same anxiety, his reasoning remained sharp. Lin Hao's power was still an unknown variable, but he believed the father's composure meant he could intervene at any moment.
"You're right… Lin Hao must be ready to step in."
"Is… is this the end for me?" Lin Yi, barely conscious, half-opened his eyes at the enormous Death Energy Bomb falling toward him.
"ABU!"
Lin Hao appeared beneath Lin Yi in an instant, his 1.3-meter form materializing like a teleport.
"How is it? Your first battle against a truly elite opponent?" Lin Hao asked, glancing down at the injured boy.
"Dad… it's really you… I didn't expect that guy to become so terrifying just by changing color. I completely underestimated him. Dad, please avenge me…" Lin Yi said weakly.
"Don't worry. But first, let's take care of this."
As the Death Energy Bomb descended, Lin Hao raised one hand and caught it effortlessly something even Goku struggled with against Frieza's strongest attacks.
High in the sky, Frieza looked excited at first, expecting to witness an explosion. But his laughter froze mid-sound as his eyes widened.
"What?! Who stopped my attack? Could it be that Saiyan Son Goku has returned?"
"Haha! Take this back with you, Frieza!" Lin Hao shouted as he casually tossed the Death Energy Bomb upward then kicked it with devastating power.
Golden Frieza's face contorted. He knew exactly how strong that attack was; taking it head-on would mean severe injury even in his perfected Golden state.
He scrambled awkwardly to the side, unwilling to risk the blow.
The Death Energy Bomb shot past him into space, smashing a distant meteorite cluster apart.
"BOOM!"
