043 (Bonus Chapter for Moon Tickets 13/22)
When Jack Hawthorne got home, it was already close to two o'clock. Even though he moved cautiously, he still woke up the light-sleeping Mavis Thornton.
Mavis squinted at the time and asked, "Where did you go so late?"
Jack checked on his son in the crib, tucked him in, and then got into bed. He hugged Mavis and whispered, "I went to Donovan Hawthorne with Gage Grant."
Mavis was surprised, "Why did you go to your cousin's so late at night?"
Jack briefly recounted the night's events, leaving Mavis even more astonished, so much so that she didn't know what to say.
Jack fell into reminiscence, "I've known Fourth Master Grant for over twenty years; I've never seen him act like this for any girl. He must be really into her, but what can he do?"
"If he really likes her, they should just be together. He's unmarried, and she's single."
