Having gone through those melodramatic things, meeting again, Maeve didn't know what to say to Gage.
She smiled and shook her head, "Someone's picking me up."
"How have you been lately?" Gage asked, "Everything going smoothly?"
Maeve was just about to tell him she's been working on a new album in the United States recently, but before she could speak, a moonlight blue Cayenne pulled up behind Gage's Range Rover.
That's Donovan's car in the country; Maeve recognized it.
She was about to say goodbye to Gage when Donovan got out of the car and shouted toward her, "Maeve, over here."
At that moment, the masseter muscle on Gage's cheek suddenly tightened and bulged from his clenched jaw.
Maeve swallowed, and said softly, "I'm leaving now, goodbye."
As they brushed past each other, Gage suddenly grabbed her wrist tightly.
She winced in pain and looked up at him.
