When I woke up, I was alone in my room.
For a moment I just lay there, staring at the familiar ceiling, trying to remember what had happened. Then it all came rushing back, the conversation with Father, the pain in my chest, the manifestation of dark magic on my hands.
I sat up slowly and looked at my hands, turning them over in the afternoon light that filtered through my window. They looked normal now, no trace of the black tendrils I'd seen before passing out, but I could feel something different inside me, a new awareness of power that hadn't been there before.
Had I awakened as an omega? But what kind of omega manifested dark magic instead of holy powers? And what did that mean for me, for my future?
But those questions felt secondary right now. Cadiz's situation was the most important thing, the most urgent crisis that needed addressing. My own awakening, whatever form it had taken, could wait.
