Chapter 14 - Chapter__ 14 : The Final Battle and A New Ray of Hope [ Season 1 ] #20

The air around the dimensional gate was throbbing with a strangely heavy and poisonous energy. The mysterious masked entity was emanating a dark energy that was black and dark, and it seemed to be overturning the gravity around it.

The reality itself was cracking. Right behind the masked entity, a massive Dimensional Gate ripped open, tearing the space-time fabric apart. It looked like a swirling, violent black hole, pulsing with dangerous purple and crimson cosmic lightning. The deep, rumbling sound coming from inside the portal was shaking the entire battlefield.

Rick's condition was very deplorable. He had somehow managed to recover seventy to eighty percent of his strength in the previous phase of the fight, but after fighting one-on-one for so long, his body was on the verge of completely crashing.

Rick was completely exhausted. Blood was dripping down his face, and every single breath felt like broken glass piercing his lungs. His armor was shattered, and his hands were trembling, but the stubborn fire in his eyes refused to die out.

Just before he could leave, the entity slowly raised its right hand.

"Game over, Rick!" The masked entity laughed, a cold, demonic sound that echoed through the trees. "You and your pathetic cricket team end here today. Your story is officially finished!"

The entity raised both hands, channeling a dense cloud of forbidden dark magic. Within seconds, that dark energy condensed into a massive, volatile energy sphere, crackling with raw destructive power. It was fired straight at Rick at the speed of light!

Rick's body was so exhausted and paralyzed that he didn't even have the reflexes to dodge. He just saw absolute death approaching him.

BOOM!!!

The explosion was deafening. A blinding flash of dark energy consumed everything. The sheer kinetic shockwave launched Rick into the air like a ragdoll. He flew across the clearing and crashed violently into a massive stone pillar before slamming face-first onto the hard ground.

CRACK! The pillar fractured from the impact. Rick coughed up a pool of fresh, crimson blood, his consciousness fading rapidly into darkness.

Just before he lost consciousness, Rick saw in his blurred eyes the masked entity backstepping into the black hole of that dimensional gate.

But the villain didn't leave empty-handed. Before stepping into the portal, he chanted a dark incantation, summoning a nightmare from the abyss.

ROAR!!!

A terrifying ten-foot-tall medium-level monster stepped out of the gate. Its skin was made of jagged, rock-hard gray scales. Its eyes burned like molten lava, and thick, neon-green acid was drooling from its massive jaws, instantly melting the grass and rocks below it.

The entity's final chilling command echoed from inside the portal: "Eliminate them! Tear this team to pieces!"

The monster roared at the owner's command. It turned its fiery red eyes straight at the remaining three members of Rick's team. They were lying on the ground a little way off. Their internal organs had only just begun to recover a little from the special healing pills Rick had given them a moment earlier, but they were in no condition to stand up.

The monster roared again, raising its massive stone fists, ready to crush them into dust. Rick's teammates closed their eyes, expecting the worst. Death was just a second away.

WUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

Suddenly, the dark forest was pierced by the loud, screaming sirens of heavy military vehicles! Powerful high-beams blinded the monster, locking it in place.

The military backup team had arrived at the absolute last microsecond!

The armored vehicles screeched to a halt, and a high-ranking Special Operations Officer stepped out. He possessed an icy, calm composure and an overwhelming aura that instantly commanded the battlefield. In his right hand, he held a legendary tactical sword forged from a rare, glowing silver metal.

The monster, irritated by the arrival of the military and about to crush Rick's team at a faster pace, sprang into action at that very moment.

He didn't just move; he vanished. Leaving a blur behind, the officer executed a flawless, gravity-defying high jump, soaring straight above the monster's head.

"Not on my watch, you ugly piece of trash," the officer said in a voice as cold as ice.

FLASH!

His silver blade cut through the air, drawing a perfect arc of light. Before the monster could even raise its hands—SLASH!!!—the officer sliced the giant beast perfectly in half, from head to toe.

PHOOSH! The monster's body didn't even bleed. It instantly dissolved into thick black smoke, turning into ash and vanishing into thin air. The lethal threat was neutralized in a single heartbeat.

As soon as the monster was finished, the rest of the military sprang into action in a very professional manner. The first aid and medical teams quickly lifted Rick and his entire team onto stretchers.

"We need immediate evacuation! Code Red! Pulse is dropping fast!" the medics shouted. They loaded Rick and his team into the armored ambulances, racing back to the Military Base at maximum speed. The team was rushed straight into the Advanced ICU, where life-saving medical procedures began immediately.

Rick survived the battle, the operation, and the doctors' best efforts, but his physical and mental condition was very precarious. After three days and nights in a complete coma, Rick finally regained consciousness.

When Rick slowly opened his heavy eyes, the bright lights of the medical bay blinded him for a second. As his vision cleared, he saw the Army Commander standing right beside his bed, his face grim and exhausted.

"Don't force yourself to move, Rick," the Commander said in a low, serious tone. "But as soon as you can speak, tell me everything. What the hell happened out there? How did an elite squad get ambushed like this?"

Rick, with a weak voice, moistened his dry lips with his tongue, controlled himself a little. He began to tell the Commander every incident that had happened to them, from beginning to end.

"Sir..." Rick croaked, his voice raspy. "You need to decrypt the data drives we recovered immediately. The enemy knew our exact coordinates. They predicted our every move. The breach came from inside! We have a traitor in the high command!"

The commander's jaw tightened at Rick's words. He instantly sent the recovered drives to the High-Security Cyber Intelligence Lab.

For the next few hours, the military's top cryptographers worked under maximum lockdown. When the encrypted files were finally cracked, the data revealed a truth so terrifying that it sent chills down the Commander's spine. Rick's suspicion was 100% correct. Someone with access to the highest tactical mainframe had committed high treason, selling out the entire operation.

But the real heart-wrenching twist was waiting when they began background checking the suspected high-ranking officer.

The cyber team ran a deep biometric scan on the suspected high-ranking official, bypassing all basic firewalls. What they discovered was mind-blowing. The man sitting in the war room, controlling the defense strategies, wasn't the real officer at all!

It was a flawless imposter. The real high-ranking officer had been covertly assassinated years ago. This deep-cover enemy agent had surgically stolen his face, cloned his voice, and hijacked his entire identity.

As soon as this news became known, an atmosphere of great panic, excitement, and deep distrust spread throughout the Army Department. Paranoia gripped the headquarters. Nobody knew if the soldier standing next to them was a comrade or a hidden enemy.

Meanwhile, even though Rick's own body injuries had recovered somewhat with the military's advanced technology, there was no peace in his mind. Because he had received news that the condition of the remaining three members of his team was going from critical to critical by the day.

Rick couldn't just sit around. He ripped the IV needles out of his arm and forced his weak body to walk down to the underground advanced research facility. When he stepped inside, his heart shattered.

Inside three massive, sci-fi style Cryo-Pods filled with a glowing blue stasis liquid, his teammates were suspended. Their bodies were hooked up to complex life-support systems, wires, and monitoring screens. The digital heart rate lines on the monitors were unstable, slowly dropping towards a flatline.

The Chief Doctor came forward seeing Rick entering the lab.

"I'm sorry, Rick," the Chief Doctor said, shaking his head looking at the pods. "Physically, we healed their external wounds using our best technology. But the real damage is spiritual. That entity used a forbidden soul-corrupting spell. Their life forces are fading from the inside out. Standard medicine, surgery, or even our most advanced modern science cannot save them. They only have a few days left."

Rick's head felt as if the sky had collapsed. The moments they had spent together, the fight on the cricket pitch and the friendship on the battlefield flashed before his eyes.

Rick grabbed the doctor's coat, his eyes filled with absolute desperation and rage. "There has to be a way, Doc! I don't care about the cost. I'll risk my own life, I'll walk through hell if I have to! Just tell me how to save them!"

The doctor sighed, checking the security cameras before leaning in to whisper in a barely audible voice.

"There is one final legendary option, Rick, but it's a suicide mission. Deep within the forbidden ancient archives, there is a record of a mystical plant known as the 'Soul Herb'. It possesses a miraculous cosmic energy that can fully reconstruct a shattered soul and pull someone back from the dead. But it does not exist in our dimension. It only grows deep inside the uncharted, highly lethal world beyond that Dimensional Gate. Where it blooms, or what kind of cosmic monsters guard it... no human has ever survived long enough to find out."

As soon as the doctor finished speaking, all the physical weakness and fatigue inside Rick disappeared in an instant. A devastating fire of revenge, determination and fight flared up in his eyes again. He could not let his best friends die before his eyes like this. His grandfather had never taught him to back down.

Rick turned around, walking slowlyy toward the massive reinforced glass window of the lab. Outside, the sun was setting, bleeding a deep, fiery crimson across the horizon. Looking at his own reflection, his jaw tightened as he made an ultimate vow.

"I don't care who the enemy is. I will personally drag that imposter out of the shadows and make him pay. And that 'Soul Herb'... even if it's guarded by the gods of the underworld, I will cross that Dimensional Gate and rip it out of that unknown world. I will bring my friends back. I promise!"

Rick's determined and fiery gaze remained fixed on the gray, mysterious horizon beyond the lab's massive glass window.

A new, darker war was about to begin, and a massive cosmic mystery was waiting on the other side. With this ultimate cliffhanger, the epic journey of Season 1 officially comes to a close.
