The soft chime of the wall clock filled the room as the time struck 10 pm. I stared at the living room door. Harper was yet to be here.
For someone who had left the office since noon, it was weird she hadn't gotten home when the drive was barely thirty minutes.
I received no calls or messages from her. Everything was quiet, and that got me even more worried than I was. I picked up my phone to call Richard again for the tenth time since I got home.
"Boss," he answered groggily on the other end.
"Are you certain my wife left the office when you sent her home?" I murmured, frowning at the clock.
"Yes, sir." He said.
"Did she inform you she'd be going over to her friends?" I asked.
There was a brief silence before Richard answered, "No, sir."
I groaned, my hand clutching my phone tightly. I wanted to believe she'd be at her friend's home. Clara. Since I forbade her from leaving without my notice, she hadn't listened. Well, she had tried to be sneaky just once.
