A long, tense moment passed.
Then, steady sinus rhythm.
Olisa released a slow breath he didn't know he had been holding. "Good. That's good."

He took out a penlight and leaned close, shining it into her eyes. The pupils reacted, slow but there. A small spark of hope flickered in his chest.
