Chapter 113 - Girls? I'm Going to Be a Pokémon Master! [113]

Karen's meeting with Satoshi could only be described as fate. Their families lived close by, and since they were the same age, they'd naturally crossed paths countless times since childhood.

That frequent contact built a deep friendship—and, bit by bit, an emotional connection developed.

You could even call them mega childhood friends!

Except there were way too many girls around Satoshi. Probably because he was kind of well-off, his family often took him traveling, so he kept meeting all sorts of people and Pokémon.

Like that time on some weird island where he met a blue-haired girl and a blonde girl; or meeting a quiet, pale-green-haired girl in Rainbow Wing City; or meeting a girl with a Riolu in the Kalos region; and, most importantly, that extra little sister appearing out of nowhere!

But none of them lasted longer than one month, twenty days, and fifteen hours!

Karen had counted—it was exactly that long!

Which meant the time she'd spent with Satoshi was longer than anyone else's. Her "childhood-friend index" was maxed out. How could she possibly lose?

Impossible.Impossible.Impossible.

At the very beginning, it was even just the two of them. Kagura Hikari joined later, and shortly after that Hikari moved to Galar—so it went back to being just the two of them again.

Like always, they battled Pokémon every day—Scorbunny vs. Pichu—played games, and slowly Karen began developing feelings, along with a certain heavy desire… yet it never fully erupted.

The furthest she'd ever gone was dropping to her knees, begging him not to leave… or locking him in her room.

That's all it was!

Spending so long with a blockhead, Karen became a blockhead herself. She didn't even realize her feelings, and the chance slipped right past her.

Only shortly before Satoshi moved away did she finally realize—and it was her classmates who told her.

"Karen, that's love, isn't it? And it's really heavy. At this rate, your boyfriend's going to run away."

"I don't think it is."

"No, it definitely is."

Am I, really?

Karen tilted her head, genuinely confused.

Just touching Satoshi made her blush, and her heart raced. Holding hands, their fingers naturally intertwined. She always wanted to stay close, her gaze always drifting to his lips… was that really love?

It absolutely was~

"So I really do like him."

A blush rose across Karen's cheeks, her heartbeat quickened. Even taking a deep breath, she couldn't calm herself.

Then she had to confess—before some guy who swung that way or some perverted girl stole Satoshi away!

"What? You're moving?"

"Yeah. We're moving. Something happened at home, so I'm going to live at my little sister's place."

Right when she'd decided to confess, Satoshi was leaving.

Huh? You're going to live with that little sister you barely even know?

Then what about me?

As a performance-course stage girl, Karen couldn't control her "acting." She completely broke down.

"Don't leave, no~ Satoshi moving away… wait at least ten years after I'm dead."

"Please… I'm begging you. Without Satoshi, I… Can you not move? I'll do anything!"

The instant she finished, Karen dropped to her knees. The cold ground hurt, but she tightly held onto Satoshi's hand, gently pressing her forehead to the back of it.

A heavy atmosphere spread, pressing onto Satoshi whether he liked it or not.

Sadly, blockhead Satoshi had no special thoughts about this.

"It's fine. We'll see each other again. Once everything's handled, I'll come right back."

Satoshi pulled Karen up and hugged her tightly. Her tears wouldn't stop, soaking into his neck. Karen's arms wrapped around him instinctively, shoulders trembling, tears leaving a damp stain on his collar.

For some reason, hearing that made Karen feel like she wouldn't see him again for twenty-plus years.

For some reason, she remembered Pidgeot.

So before she could be "abandoned," Karen used a promise and an engagement to slip a ring—named Karen—onto Satoshi.

Then she waited for the day they'd reunite.

"1st anniversary of being abandoned by Satoshi…" "2nd anniversary of being abandoned by Satoshi…" "6th anniversary of being abandoned by Satoshi…"

Satoshi, you never came to pick me up!

Did you abandon your fiancée to chase after other women?

Karen's gaze became heavier, her love even more frightening.

She desperately wanted to find him and shove their promise in his face.

Next time we meet, I'll pin him down and make it a done deal!

We're engaged anyway—this is totally fine!

Luckily, when they met again, Karen managed to control her emotions pretty well.

She only accidentally crushed her phone when she saw Anon with Satoshi, that's all.

A performance-course stage girl needs a lot of strength—this is totally fine!

Rainbow Wing Academy was huge. Even after a month at school, they hadn't bumped into each other—there were thousands of students, after all. It was the biggest and best academy in the Kanto region, drawing in massive numbers of students in recent years, surpassing even the aristocratic Quartz Academy.

Karen couldn't even use her "dog nose" to find Satoshi.

When she finally caught his scent again, several women surrounded him.

Thankfully, he hadn't been tainted.

The old Karen would have said without hesitation:

"I'll win!"

But now she couldn't say it out loud at all. All she could do was pour her heart into Pokémon battles.

When Karen saw Satoshi holding Taki, something heavy and inexplicable pressed down on her head.

She'd clearly won, yet somehow she felt like she'd lost.

The current situation…

Taki + Satoshi

Karen

Th-this-this… isn't this weird?

Am I the designated losing heroine?

"…" Karen didn't know what to say. She could only silently walk away, feeling like she'd been manipulated by a scumbag boyfriend—trapped—but weirdly happy, delighted even.

"As expected, Satoshi hasn't changed—he's still handsome, gentle, pure… I like him?~~"

Her love-brain activated. Karen's cheeks flushed again, her heartbeat quickening.

Their "promise" was gradually reaching its ideal stage—if she won the final battle, she'd become champion of the "wedding cup."

A bit of Tauros behavior like this—this barely counts as anything!

At worst, Karen would just crush another newly bought phone.

"But Taki and the others aren't okay. I have to set limits. Anyway, after this battle ends, my love will restart~"

Karen's eyes brimmed with heavy, stubborn love. A powerful Gravity seemed to blanket the entire space.

"My Satoshi absolutely won't be taken by anyone else—and I absolutely won't let anyone do it."
