Chapter 114 - Girls? I'm Going to Be a Pokémon Master! [114]

In the Cinnabar Tournament finals, nearly all the Rainbow Wing Academy Battle Department students came to watch, along with several teachers.

For a student to win a tournament open even to working adults was an enormous honor.

Even more impressive was that both finalists were from Rainbow Wing Academy. Additionally, Blaine—the Cinnabar Gym Leader himself—would be watching the match, personally awarding the Volcano Badge to the champion.

The school also allowed the winner of the Cinnabar Tournament finals the right to directly challenge the academy's Elite Four, and even the Champion.

Unfortunately, even if Satoshi won, he wasn't planning to challenge them right away.

A 4v6? Who do I think I am, some kind of Cameron EXPY?

No… Cameron only won 5v6. If I could pull off a 4v6, wouldn't that make me even better than Cameron?!

Satoshi shook his head.

You only got one chance. Naturally, he'd save it for when he had enough Pokémon.

Unless your opponent was someone like Tobias—casually strolling around with cheat Pokémon—or the strength gap was enormous, challenging the academy's Elite Four while down two Pokémon was essentially impossible.

Though Satoshi still really wanted to ask Tobias one thing: just where did you get Poké Balls for Darkrai and Latios?!

In the stands, Tomori timidly gathered courage, trying to comfort Taki after her loss.

"Rikki, you did great. I think you were really cool!"

"Thank you, Tomori." Taki's lips curled slightly, her expression unusually gentle.

The bitterness of defeat had faded, replaced by her usual self.

She'd been extremely reluctant to accept the outcome at first.

But she didn't even get a chance to dwell on it—because right at the exit, the ultimate blockhead Satoshi had appeared. All her frustration vanished instantly. After that emotional roller coaster, Taki felt perfectly fine.

Meanwhile, close by, Soyo and Anon were quietly simmering with jealousy.

Why isn't Satoshi here, yet his scent is all over you, Taki-chan? What exactly did you do with Satoshi for his scent to be this strong?!

Soyo desperately wanted to ask, but the timing wasn't right.

Besides, Nagasaki Soyo wasn't so tactless. Seeking comfort when upset was perfectly normal—and their boyfriend really was the gentle type.

"Unbelievable! They're both students! Two students in the finals of a Type Tournament—this is unprecedented! These two Trainers, commanding scorching flames, are now making their way onto the Tamaki Rainbow Gym battlefield!"

The stands erupted in chatter. All eyes were fixed on the field—but in Satoshi and Karen's eyes, there was only each other.

An all-out Fire-type battle.

Win this match—then marry Satoshi!

That was the only thought in Karen's mind. She took out her Poké Ball, gaze locked firmly onto Satoshi.

"Satoshi, I want a full-power battle against you. After this match, you'll fulfill our promise, right?"

Just saying it made Karen happy; a smile tugged at her lips, even as something in her chest grew heavier.

Win—then confess these feelings she'd held back for six years and twelve days.

"Yeah. I'll keep it. But first—you'll have to beat me!"

Satoshi took out his Poké Ball, agreeing without a second's hesitation.

[Satocchi, do you even remember what that promise was?]

Nope! But as long as I win, it's fine!

[Waaah~ If it was a promise to date or get married, what happens if you lose?]

Then I'll date her. Get married. Whatever.

[And the definitely bloody aftermath~~? Lots of girls like you, you know.]

Huh? Then I'll do my best to date them all, make everyone happy, and still achieve my dream.

Satoshi genuinely didn't think it was a big deal, nor did he have any resistance to it.

He just wanted everyone—and Pokémon—to be happy.

It was just that until he became a Pokémon Master, he didn't want to focus too much on this stuff.

In short…

I'm going to become a Pokémon Master. Girls are seriously distracting!

But right now, there was no need to overthink things. What mattered most was giving it everything he had!

Time to absolutely dunk on Aijo Karen!

"Mm… I'll beat you, then take over your life," Karen murmured. She threw her Poké Ball in a clean, precise arc.

"Go! Cinderace!"

"Ace!"

Cinderace burst out, landing firmly on the battlefield.

"Combusken, you're up!" Satoshi eyed the Cinderace, one eyebrow raised. Tightening his grip on his Poké Ball, he snapped his arm upward—Combusken leapt out in a flash of light, landing strongly.

"Buskeeen!"

[Cinderace]:

A Pokémon with a nerfed Ability in Scarlet/Violet, and among 'sinful' Pokémon it's Top 20 ultra-lewd!

Enough of that.

A cold sweat slipped down Satoshi's face, but he ignored it—the battle had already begun.

"Cinderace, use [AGILITY]! Quickly close in, then follow up with [ACROBATICS]!"

In both animation and real life, rapid-movement moves were often depicted similarly to Quick Attack—extremely fast, but not infinitely stacking speed boosts.

If you could just dodge endlessly and raise your speed to the maximum, you'd have a huge advantage.

But realistically, such a tactic was impossible.

If this were the games, Satoshi would've already complained: two actions in one turn—how's that even legal?!

"Ace~"

Cinderace's body glowed faintly white, power surging through its limbs. It shot forward like an arrow, instantly reaching Combusken.

Chaining those moves together, its speed was terrifying.

"Use [DETECT] to dodge!"

Satoshi remained calm, doing what he always did.

Acrobatics came blazing fast. Combusken's eyes sharpened—in a split second, it read Cinderace's movements and cleanly evaded the strike.

But Karen had no intention of letting up. Having the speed advantage, she had to finish quickly.

Otherwise, Combusken's speed would only increase, and things would become troublesome.

"Keep pursuing, Cinderace! Use [ACROBATICS] again and again!"

"Ace!" Cinderace's punches rained down relentlessly, trying to pin down Combusken. But Combusken dodged with nimble footwork, slipping past every blow.

Detect required intense focus. Like Protect, it couldn't be sustained indefinitely.

He needed to buy time—for Combusken's Speed Boost to activate.

"Jump high—evade from above!"

Realizing a stalemate was dangerous, Satoshi immediately chose to stall.

"Buskeeen!" Combusken gathered its strength and sprang skyward with astonishing agility, overlooking the battlefield.

"[PYRO BALL]—follow it!"

Cinderace flicked up a pebble, ignited it into a fireball, and launched it skyward at Combusken.

"Buskee—!" Combusken took the hit head-on, losing balance. It wobbled and crashed heavily to the ground, sending up clouds of dust.

The attack was too quick—no chance to counter. With Pyro Ball's speed, evasion was nearly impossible.

With the situation strongly against Satoshi, even the audience started thinking he'd lose.

"I've won, Satoshi! Cinderace—use [AGILITY] to close in, then [ACROBATICS]!"

Karen pressed her advantage, her assault like wildfire—determined to burn her opponent to ashes.

But Satoshi's gaze stayed locked on Combusken, calm and unwavering.

After countless battles, there was only one goal.

Victory.

And now—it was time for Combusken to spread its wings.

"Combusken, show them our power!"

"Buskeeen!!"

Sensing its Trainer's passion, Combusken shot upright, responding with fierce determination.

Seeing that, a confident smile appeared on Satoshi's lips. He thrust his hand forward.

"Evolve! We'll grow stronger—and then even stronger! We'll reach heights no one's ever seen!"

"Combuskee—EN!!" Combusken's roar shook the Gym. Surging blue light and fierce flames enveloped it as it evolved into Blaziken.

"BLAZIKEN!!!!!" Blaziken's powerful legs stood firmly on the field. Its bandaged claws blazed fiercely, drawing every eye.

"It evolved… Satoshi, you really are amazing. You were saving a trump card like this." Before she knew it, Karen was smiling.

Satoshi burned with fighting spirit. His eyes flashed brightly, expression full of resolve.

"Round two! My strongest partner and I—will definitely defeat you!"
