ANBU Headquarters.
Captain Black Ape stood in a dimly lit room.
"Fox, your squad has an urgent mission. You're to pursue and eliminate two rogue ninja."
"Captain, are they the traitors related to Princess Uzumaki?"
"No. These were designated by the Yamanaka Clan themselves. They must be eliminated immediately — not a day's delay."
Yagami accepted the scroll, frowning slightly as he scanned its contents.
This was a crucial period of surveillance on Princess Uzumaki. Uzumaki Mito's funeral was also fast approaching. He didn't want to miss such a grand event.
The Nine-Tails, Uzumaki Mito, the Senju Clan, Uzumaki Kushina... anyone from that circle could give him a chance to "draw" something valuable if he could just get close.
Still, there was nothing he could say.
An ANBU's orders were absolute — the mission had to be completed. He would just have to finish it quickly and get back to the village to resume monitoring Princess Uzumaki.
After reading the scroll twice, Yagami set it down and went to the locker room to summon his team.
Team Fox moved out swiftly, heading northwest.
As they traveled, Yagami pondered the assignment.
The Yamanaka had always been the village's perfect tools — their work was critical and irreplaceable.
They gathered intelligence from enemy corpses, framed others using Mind Body Switch Technique, relayed orders on the battlefield… they did everything that required subtlety and precision.
Back in the Land of Waves' capital, Yamanaka Kairi — the guardian shinobi — had once demonstrated for him just how terrifying the Yamanaka could be. Their ability to manipulate and frame others left no room for defense.
Controlling an enemy's body meant the victim couldn't resist at all.
So for the Yamanaka Clan to urgently request an ANBU strike — one that even diverted forces from monitoring Princess Uzumaki — meant those two rogue members must have done something that directly threatened the clan's core interests.
Could it be that they planned to sell the Yamanaka's secret techniques to another village?
The mission scroll didn't specify what crime they'd committed.
Without more intel, he couldn't plan properly.
He glanced at Purple Cat — herself a Yamanaka kunoichi.
ANBU must've assigned his team specifically because of her.
"Purple Cat, those rogues are from your clan. Do you have any information on them?"
Purple Cat hesitated, then said,
"Captain, there's nothing special about them. They're both chūnin-level. Our squad should be more than enough to deal with them."
"Why did they defect?"
At Yagami's question, Purple Cat turned evasive. "Captain, it's a matter of clan honor. I'm sorry, but I can't go into detail. Their combat strength really isn't high. You can just make a standard battle plan."
Yagami frowned in confusion.
Not strong, yet a matter of 'clan honor'? And the Yamanaka demanded ANBU handle it immediately?
Then why not send their own people? Why borrow ANBU hands?
When they reached a small town fifty kilometers outside the Hidden Leaf, Yagami ordered his team to search carefully.
According to intel, the two rogues were likely hiding here.
The town wasn't large. After some inquiries, they learned that recently, a pair of unfamiliar "traveling spouses" had been staying at the local bathhouse.
After examining the bathhouse's layout, Yagami said,
"I'll infiltrate the back wall with Purple Cat. We'll make a small hole and scout the targets. Antelope, Black Ox — you two take positions in the trees behind the bathhouse for support."
With Purple Cat following close, Yagami used Earth Release chakra to quietly open a small hole in the back wall.
He pressed an eye to the gap and peered inside.
It was a mixed bath — men and women together, about a dozen in total. No sign of the targets.
Yagami wasn't some voyeur like Jiraiya, so he shifted position, checking the private high-class suites one by one.
Luck was with him. After making three holes, he finally spotted the targets.
He was about to plan an assault when he blinked.
"Hm? Wait. Not two rogues… there are four people in there!"
He nearly acted prematurely — the intel was wrong. Four targets meant he needed to be more cautious.
Purple Cat whispered urgently, "Four? Let me see."
Yagami moved aside to let her look through the hole.
When she saw the four figures, her heart sank.
"Not only the two rogues… there are also two Yamanaka shinobi who were supposed to be on a border mission. I don't know why they're here."
"'Don't know why?'" Yagami said quietly.
"Purple Cat, no more secrets. Two targets we can take head-on. Four means we risk casualties.
Casualties aren't the issue — ANBU teams die all the time.
But if my men die because the Yamanaka deliberately withheld intel, that's something I won't accept.
An ANBU dies for the village, but it has to be for something that matters."
Purple Cat's breath quickened uneasily. "Captain, look for yourself. You'll understand soon enough. It's not something we can easily explain."
Yagami leaned back toward the hole and looked again.
The Yamanaka weren't strong fighters, so they hadn't noticed him.
Inside, the two defectors were leading, while the two who had just returned from the border were listening attentively — their expressions serious.
The scene seemed ordinary — until it wasn't.
Then, Yagami froze.
He had braced himself for something wild — maybe a four-way bathhouse orgy, something straight out of those "passionate scenes" he'd seen back in his old world.
But this… this was something else entirely.
What the hell… were they doing?
A man and a woman — each Yamanaka — were forming pairs.
Each pair was casting Mind Body Switch Technique on one another.
The Yamanaka could use that jutsu to take control of an enemy's body.
Inside the private bath, the woman's soul entered the man's body, while the man's soul entered the woman's.
And then…
Yagami blinked, stunned beyond words.
Wait—
So they… slept with… themselves?
No, hold on… let me process this.
The female Yamanaka's soul took over the male's body — then used that body to… "battle" with her own original body for hundreds of rounds.
Was this some advanced version of Mind Body Switch Technique?
Maybe Mind Exchange Mind Switch Technique?
The two pairs were "training," experimenting with higher-level uses of the clan's forbidden technique.
Heretics.
No wonder the Yamanaka Clan wanted them executed immediately.
These rogues truly deserved death.
At that moment, Yagami's envy toward ninja clans peaked.
Why?!
Why do the Yamanaka get to enjoy such bizarre, mind-bending experiences?
They really deserved to die!
The clans were damnable!
Yagami pulled out explosive tags from his pouch, signaling to Antelope and Black Ox behind him.
"Prepare to strike!"
Now!
Immediately!
Explosive tags were expensive, but who cared at this point?
He formed seals, activating Earth style Technique.
The wall rippled like water, and his body melted into it.
BOOM!
A thunderous explosion shattered the private bath, throwing everything into chaos.
