Scorpion hadn't even managed to get up when Peter stepped hard on his back, pinning him to the ground. Then Peter grabbed the scorpion tail with both hands and gave it a sharp yank.
Crack—crack—crack—
A series of brutal snapping sounds tore through the air as the tail section of Scorpion's armor was ripped apart. In the end, Peter tore off the entire tail by sheer force!
Buzz—
Spider-Sense activated.
A mechanical tentacle with a silver-gray metallic sheen lashed toward Peter.
Peter swung the severed scorpion tail in his hand upward like a weapon, knocking the mechanical arm aside.
Doctor Octopus used two of his mechanical tentacles as legs, lifting himself high above the ground. Suspended in midair and looking down at Peter, he said, "Spider-Man, you seem… different today."
In fact, everyone felt the same.
Spider-Man today was acting more decisive, more direct—far more aggressive.
Normally he controlled his strength precisely, enough to subdue someone but not injure them.
"Do I?" Peter replied with a faint smile. "Maybe that's just because none of you have ever known the real me!"
Hooo—
A long horn blared. In the sky above, a massive passenger plane barreled straight toward Peter.
But Peter didn't even bother to look at it. His head didn't so much as twitch—his Spider-Sense told him it was nothing but one of Mysterio's illusions.
Thwip—
A web shot out, yanking a flailing man from a corner.
Green armor, green skin, a fishbowl helmet—who else but Mysterio?
Peter pressed a hand against the glass dome and applied slight pressure.
Crack—crack—crack—
The bulletproof fishbowl instantly splintered into countless fractures. Then Peter tore off half of it, revealing the terrified face of an ordinary middle-aged man inside.
"Tch. I thought Mysterio would be more mysterious. Turns out you're just too ugly to show your face, so you pretend to be mysterious, huh?" Peter mocked.
"You— you—!" Mysterio flicked his wrist, throwing out several cubes.
The cubes hit the ground, and the surroundings instantly transformed into a dense primeval jungle. A strange gas began to spread.
Mysterio burst into laughter. "Spider-Man, I know you have some kind of special sense, but this neuro-gas was developed specifically to counter it! Right now you must already be—urgh!"
Peter reached out and lightly pinched Mysterio's chin.
With a crisp crack, Mysterio's jaw dislocated on the spot.
"You talk too much. I don't allow anyone to be even more long-winded than me."With lightning speed, Peter reached behind Mysterio and pulled out a metal case.
Inside were numerous small cubes, each about 2cm wide.
These were the source of Mysterio's so-called "mystery"—the Illusion Cubes. In truth, they were miniature projection devices capable of generating extremely realistic 3D holograms, nearly indistinguishable from reality.
Peter had seen similar tech at Stark Industries, but these cubes were far more portable.
Their drawback was a lack of flexibility.
As for the neuro-gas, Peter simply leapt several times and was already out of the affected area.
Doctor Octopus had also escaped the gas the moment Mysterio released it.
Peter had barely touched down when two mechanical tentacles lunged at him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sharp alloy claws at their tips punched massive holes into the buildings around them with ease.
Forced back, Peter flipped through the air repeatedly, barely dodging Doc Ock's deadly five-strike assault.
"Damn it!" Rhino finally snapped out of the shock of accidentally killing Scarecrow. He flung the corpse aside, wiped the blood from his face, bellowed, lowered his head, and charged at Peter.
"Hey Rhino, let me show you something fun!"
Peter threw several Illusion Cubes at him.
Boom!
A dense jungle materialized, and from between towering trees, a plane dove straight toward Rhino.
Rhino went pale—though his skin was already grayish white to begin with.He frantically changed direction.
CRASH!
His entire head embedded itself into the concrete wall of a nearby building, leaving only his body sticking out.
"Hahaha!" Peter didn't hold back his laughter. He found Mysterio's cubes perfect for dealing with simple-minded types like Rhino.
"Damn it, these useless fools!"
Watching through the monitors, Kingpin slammed a fist onto the console.
He had spent so much effort—pulling strings, spending money, arranging the prison break—to gather these six so-called supervillains.
And now?
They met Spider-Man once and were all brought to ruin!
Scarecrow hadn't even done anything before that idiot Rhino skewered him like a kebab—dead on the spot.
Scorpion's tail armor was ripped off; his best weapon gone. And Spider-Man's stomp seemed to have crushed several bones. The man was still lying on the ground, barely showing any movement except faint breathing.
Mysterio had his Illusion Cubes stolen and was trapped by his own neuro-gas—life or death unknown.
Chameleon hadn't appeared at all. Based on Spider-Man's entrance, he was either dead or unconscious.
That left only two fighters:
Rhino—the brainless one—whose head was currently stuck deep in a concrete wall.
Doctor Octopus—who had already stopped fighting.
Smart as he was, he could clearly see the plan had fallen apart and was now deciding whether to continue or abandon Kingpin's promise and retreat.
"Alistair, how many Spider-Slayer robots do we have left?" Kingpin asked the man seated beside him in a high-tech stroller.
Alistair looked troubled. "All the Spider-Slayers were destroyed by Spider-Man. The new Ultimate Slayer is still under development."
"Tch!" Kingpin clenched his jaw. "Call them back. We need to reevaluate Spider-Man and create a new plan for dealing with him."
"Strange… Spider-Man today seems like a completely different person. Why is that?" Alistair murmured thoughtfully.
"So, Doctor Octavius, you're not fighting anymore?"Peter suddenly dropped from the wall, landing on the ground and looking at Doc Ock.
Doctor Octopus shook his head, studying Peter carefully before suddenly smiling."I don't know what happened to you… but if you go on like this… I very much look forward to the day you join us."
Peter frowned slightly. There was something in those words—something he didn't quite grasp.
But Doc Ock clearly had no intention of explaining. He turned and left.
As for the teammates on the ground?
Doctor Octopus had never said he was truly with them anyway.
