Watching Doctor Octopus leave, Peter finally let out a sigh of relief and quickly slipped away as well.
He jogged into a narrow alley and leaned against the wall, panting.
Unbelievable—he could feel it again… that terrifying sensation of losing his powers!
The only other time he'd ever felt something like this was when he possessed the corpse of the blond Spider-Man in Earth-1610B.
But that was because the blond Spider-Man had been dead for days!
Yet now…
This could only mean one thing: the situation of the '94 Spider-Man was extremely serious—already on the verge of a breakdown.
At the same time, Peter sensed a violent, brutal force lurking deep within the '94 Spider-Man's body.
Like a depth charge hidden underwater… ready to explode at any moment!
But why would Spider-Man's body have such a problem?
Peter carefully thought back to his past experiences. Among the Spider-Men he had possessed, even the blond one—who had been Spider-Man the longest—never had anything like this happen.
So it really was related to this world's "new gene technology"!
Peter quickly sorted through the clues in his mind, organizing his thoughts.
After resting for quite a while, he finally felt his strength gradually returning.
Not daring to waste time, he immediately rushed toward Dr. Connors' lab while he still could.
"Unbelievable, Spider-Man—your DNA structure has changed."
In Dr. Connors' laboratory, the doctor looked through the microscope at the sample, his tone heavy as he spoke to Peter.
"Changed? What kind of change?" Peter asked urgently.
"I'm not sure yet. I need to run a more detailed examination."Dr. Connors stood up and led Peter to a large machine. "Come here. You've helped me so many times—consider this something I owe you."
"You weren't born with these abilities, were you?" Connors asked while adjusting the machine.
"No. I won them in a guessing game," Peter replied.
Dr. Connors chuckled softly. He knew Peter didn't want to talk about it, so he didn't pry further.
Though he had once assumed Spider-Man was a mutant!
After a series of examinations, Peter climbed down from the machine.
Connors was already seated at a computer, analyzing the newly collected data.
The more he looked, the more shocked he became.
"Amazing! The imaging shows that your gene combination underwent a new-gene recombination. But… how is that possible?"
"I don't know either, Doctor. What's happening to me?" Peter answered vaguely. It wasn't like he could explain that a spider bite had given him powers…
"I'll need to run a few more tests to confirm. But your DNA may have permanently mutated. If my guess is correct… your powers will disappear!"
"What!?"Peter blurted out in shock—this time, it was both him and the '94 Spider-Man reacting.
In the '94 Spider-Man's surprise, there was panic… and even a hint of joy?
Of course—being Spider-Man had always been a burden to him.
So the idea of returning to a normal life… might actually be good for him.
Peter, on the other hand, was stunned because he hadn't expected to end up possessing a Spider-Man who was about to lose his powers.
From his perspective, suddenly losing his abilities was something he could hardly accept.
"Well… if I won't be busy anymore, maybe I should go on a date," a thought appeared in Peter's mind.
Uh—actually, that was the '94 Spider-Man's thought.
Peter considered it… and decided it was better to return.
Although he was technically the '94 Spider-Man in this state, going on a date like this felt… strange.
So, the '94 Spider-Man decided to go find Felicia and tell her he was free tonight and could go on that date.
And Peter chose to quietly leave this world.
"I hope you can have a happy life."
Peter looked at the '94 Spider-Man—who had already made a call and was now waiting for a bus—whispered a silent farewell…
And disappeared from that world.
Somewhere in a hidden dimensional space—
A massive chair stood beneath an even larger spiderweb.
Sitting on the chair was an elderly woman with graying hair.
Beside her stood an old man clad in strange armored clothing.
Before them was a mirror, and reflected on its surface was the image of the '94 Spider-Man. But even more astonishing—Peter's spiritual form also appeared in the mirror!
As Peter's spirit flickered and vanished, the old woman turned to the old man and said respectfully:
"Honored Master Weaver, since you personally pulled this young, inexperienced Peter into this world… why didn't you meet him?"
The Master Weaver opened his eyes—pure white, glowing faintly.
He shook his head. "Madame Web… it isn't time yet."
"He changed Peter's life trajectory. Should we restore it?" Madame Web asked.
The Master Weaver waved his hand, dispelling the display before them.
"His life's trajectory is not so easily rewritten. Still… this was a test. If it truly leads to change—if it prevents that event from happening—then our efforts over the years will not be in vain."
"Observe carefully, Madame. A spider that can climb freely across the Web… can change everything."
The Master Weaver's figure flickered—like a candle in the wind—and then vanished.
"Humbly hearing your guidance, great Master Weaver," Madame Web bowed slightly.
Peter had returned to his own world.
The moment he woke, he sat up straight and checked himself from head to toe, then carefully felt the power within him.
Only then did he exhale in relief.
Thank goodness—his powers were still—
Wait!
Peter suddenly frowned. Something was wrong.
He looked around the room, and finally realized the issue.
He was lying on a bed with a pink comforter. Two dolls sat on the headboard. Not far away was a desk with several basic cosmetics.
All of this pointed to one undeniable fact—
He had somehow ended up in a girl's bedroom!
And he was lying inside her blankets!
What? What?? WHAT???
Peter's mind raced.
He remembered clearly—before he traveled, he had been at home!
Could his body have moved on its own during the dimensional transfer… and wandered into some girl's room?
But who was this girl?
Or… did he travel incorrectly?
Did he possess a different Spider-Man?
Peter checked the glowing web in his mind—the coordinates confirmed he was indeed in his own world!
Still, just to be sure, he decided to check what he looked like.
He remembered seeing a mirror near the wardrobe earlier—he could just—
Knock knock.
Just then, footsteps approached.
