Iris:
"Um, are you all going somewhere?" Kash asked quickly, trying to change the subject as he shifted his attention to the children.
"Yeah, we were thinking about going to play with Grandpa," Colin replied, though his voice no longer carried the same excitement as before.
I knew my children wanted me to spend time with Kash, and I had told them countless times that it was not possible. But they were children, and they did not understand. In fact, they often felt as if they were rivals with Lara.
"Daddy, where are you going?" Colin asked.
I noticed Lara watching me. There was a smug smile on her face, almost as if she was reminding me that he had stayed with her last night.
"We're heading out for breakfast. Do you want to come?" Kash suggested.
Both kids started nodding, which caught Lara's attention. Her smile slowly faded.
"No, kids. Remember, we're spending time with Grandpa. Come on, let's go," I told them firmly.
