Chapter 661 - Return to the Guild

The following days passed with a consistency I was not used to. The village began responding well to the changes. It was not something instantaneous, but the signs were there. Production was already showing more stability, the organization was beginning to make sense to them, and the village master no longer needed guidance for every simple decision.

Even so, I knew I could not stay there all the time.

That morning, I remained silent for a few minutes before leaving the mansion. I looked through the window toward the village and observed the movement. Everything was following the plan. For the first time since I arrived, I did not feel urgency.

And that was exactly why I made the decision.

When I came downstairs, everyone was already gathered. Liriel seemed more recovered, Elara kept her attentive gaze, Lyannis was already organizing some notes, Scarlett looked relaxed, Vespera was silent as always, and Rai'kanna watched me with that direct look.

"We're going back to Vailor for a while," I said.

Lyannis immediately looked up.

"Already?"

"Yes."

Scarlett slightly raised an eyebrow.

"You're going to leave this place on its own?"

"It's not alone," I replied. "Now there's a system. And there's someone to keep it running."

Rai'kanna crossed her arms.

"The village master."

"Exactly."

Elara took a small step forward.

"And the real reason?"

I looked at her.

"Training. Money. And information."

Vespera gave a slight nod.

"The guild."

"Yes."

Liriel smiled lightly.

"So we're going back into action."

"We are."

It did not take long for us to prepare. The carriage was already ready when we reached the mansion entrance. Before leaving, I stopped by the village again. The master was organizing the workers just like in the previous days.

"I'll be away for a while," I said as I approached.

He did not seem surprised.

"You'll come back?"

"I will."

He nodded.

"I'll keep everything running."

"That's what I expect."

He hesitated for a second before continuing.

"If something gets out of control…"

"You handle it."

He took a deep breath.

"Understood."

I looked around one last time. There was no visible disorder anymore. There was no longer that feeling of abandonment. It was still a simple village, but now it had direction.

I returned to the carriage and we got in. As soon as we departed, I felt the rhythm of the road take over. The sound of the wheels, the constant movement, the light wind… all of it brought a different feeling.

Scarlett was the first to speak.

"You don't like standing still."

"That's not it," I replied.

"Then what is it?"

"Staying in the same place without evolving makes no sense."

Lyannis agreed.

"And the village doesn't need you all the time anymore."

"Exactly."

Rai'kanna looked out the window.

"But you're still going to come back."

"I will. That place is still my responsibility."

Elara crossed her arms.

"And this place is too."

I looked at her.

"Yes."

The trip was not long, but it was enough to reorganize my thoughts. Managing lands was important. Building something lasting was important. But I could not ignore the other side.

I was still an adventurer.

When the walls of Vailor appeared in the distance, I felt something familiar. It was not just the city. It was everything that came with it. Movement, conflicts, challenges.

As soon as we entered, the atmosphere changed completely. People everywhere, merchants, adventurers, guards. It was a direct contrast to the tranquility of the village.

We got out of the carriage and headed straight to the mansion. The staff welcomed us respectfully, as always. Nothing had changed there, but at the same time everything felt smaller than before.

"We're going to the guild later today," I said.

Scarlett smiled slightly.

"I figured."

"The sooner the better."

It did not take long before we headed out again. The guild was the same as always. Constant movement, voices, negotiations, challenges being discussed. As soon as we entered, a few glances turned toward us.

That was nothing new.

But I was not there for recognition.

I walked straight to the mission board. Lyannis stayed beside me, quickly analyzing the options. Scarlett observed the other adventurers, while Elara and Liriel kept attention on the surroundings. Vespera remained silent, and Rai'kanna simply watched.

"There are some interesting things here," Lyannis said.

"Show me."

She pointed at a few missions.

"These are high risk. These pay well. And these… are too dangerous for ordinary adventurers."

I scanned through everything.

It was exactly what I needed.

"We'll take some of these."

Scarlett crossed her arms.

"So we're fully back."

"Yes."

One of the nearby adventurers commented quietly.

"They don't even think before taking missions."

I ignored him.

It was not about proving anything to anyone.

It was about continuing to evolve.

I took the missions and stepped away from the board. I felt the weight of the decision, but it was not something negative. It was familiar.

I looked at the group.

"We start early tomorrow."

Rai'kanna nodded.

"I was already expecting that."

Liriel smiled.

"So this is how it's going to be."

"Yes."

We left the guild and returned to the mansion. Night had already begun to fall, and the fatigue from the trip was starting to appear. But at the same time, there was a different kind of energy.

I was no longer only managing.

I was returning to what I had always done.

Before going to sleep, I stopped for a moment and thought about everything I had done so far. Three lands, three responsibilities, three different paths.

And even so…

It still was not enough.

I lay down, staring at the ceiling for a few seconds.

Tomorrow would begin another phase.

And this time, I did not intend to hold anything back.
