Chapter 146: Regulus Black

Living Room, Grimmauld Place

Although Sirius didn't like his ancestral house, but he still reserve it for the order of phoenix meeting and he lives with Dursley family in Privet Drive.

"Really?" Sirius looked very surprised after hearing about Horcrux, Dudley had told him about how many Horcrux are there and how they destroyed it and how Harry had survived the second killing curse.

He stood there in silence for several seconds, all of this massive information make the man who always unserious become very serious. The idea that Voldemort had survived not through luck or magic power, but by deliberately tearing his magic apart it made Sirius feel both sick and furious.

"So… this is the reason he didn't die back then," Sirius said slowly, as if speaking the words aloud might help calming himself. "This is how that bastard kept coming back."

"Yeah," Dudley replied casually. "He's like a cockroach. Extremely hard to kill."

For a brief moment, the tension on the air shattered hearing Dudley comment about Voldemort.

Sirius barked out a laugh hearing Dudley comment. Harry followed a second later, unable to stop himself.

"That's… actually the perfect word for him," Harry said, shaking his head. "No matter how many times you think he's gone, he crawls back out."

Dudley smirked. "Exactly."

Then his expression grew serious.

"Sirius," Dudley said, stepping forward. "In honor of you and everything you've lost, we want you to destroy the final Horcrux."

He extended his hand, offering the basilisk fang.

Sirius stared at it, the fang was long, curved and the point are very sharp, it still carrying the lethal residue of basilisk venom, a weapon capable of destroying a Horcrux.

Slowly, Sirius reached out and took it from Dudley hand.

"I don't know what to say," Sirius admitted quietly. "I feel like I barely started fighting him and you two are already at the final stage."

Dudley chuckled. "This isn't the end."

He met Sirius eyes, his voice become serious. "It's the beginning."

That earned another laugh from all three of them, more lighter this time.

Sirius took a deep breath and squared his shoulders. "Alright then. I'll do it properly."

He tightened his grip on the basilisk fang and pointed it toward the golden cup resting nearby.

"So I just stab it, right?" Sirius asked.

"Yes," Harry replied firmly. "Do it, Sirius."

Sirius raised the fang but suddenly...

"Wait."

Dudley voice stopped him.

"There's someone else who deserves to see this," Dudley said.

Sirius frowned. "Who?"

Harry looked equally confused.

"Call your house-elf," Dudley said calmly. "Kreacher."

Sirius stiffened. "Him? Why?"

"Don't ask," Dudley replied sharply. "He deserves to witness the end of this."

There was something in Dudley tone that left no room for argument.

After the last battle with Voldemort, Dudley had decided to return Kreacher that is why he didn't have authority to call that houseelf.

Sirius hesitated, then nodded. Whatever Dudley knew, it was clearly important.

"Kreacher," Sirius called out.

PRAK!

With a loud crack, the house-elf appeared.

"Bastard master is calling Kreacher," the elf grumbled automatically.

Sirius opened his mouth to retort but Dudley spoke first.

"Kreacher."

The house-elf immediately turned, his posture straightening.

"Master Dudley is here," Kreacher said, his expression changed, a small, genuine smile appeared on his wrinkled face.

"Yes, Kreacher," Dudley said gently. "Today, we're going to destroy the last Horcrux."

Kreacher froze first, then his eyes widened.

"Really?" he whispered. His smile stretched wider than Sirius had ever seen before, so wide it make his lips trembled. "The last… Horcrux?"

"Yes," Dudley confirmed.

Tears welled up in Kreacher eyes almost instantly.

Harry and Sirius exchanged a look, both of them finally beginning to understand that there was far more to this than they had realized and Kreacher had joining Horcrux hunt without both of them knowing it.

Sirius swallowed what ever words he want to say because the first important thing to do is to destroy the last Hocrux.

He carefully placed the Cup of Hufflepuff on the floor. The gold gleamed mockingly under the light, unfortunately it had been corrupted with Voldemort magic.

Sirius raised the basilisk fang high.

'For James, for Lily, for twelve stolen years,' thought Sirius.

With a sharp motion, he drove the fang straight down.

ZRRSTTT!

A horrifying scream erupted from the cup and the sound is clearly not human, not magical, but something twisted and hateful. Thick black smoke poured out, writhing violently before disintegrating into nothingness.

The cup cracked and the place where Sirius had stabbed there was a bloodstain.

Silence followed all of them.

Sirius stood frozen, still gripping the fang.

"…Is it done?" he asked quietly.

Dudley nodded once. "Done."

Harry smiled, relief flooding his face. "Yeah. We're done."

Kreacher collapsed to his knees.

The house-elf sobbed openly.

Sirius stared at him in shock.

He turned to Dudley, lowering his voice. "Why does my house-elf know about Horcruxes?"

Dudley looked at Kreacher with an unreadable expression.

"Because," Dudley said calmly, "Kreacher has been carrying this war far longer than you ever realized."

"Tell me everything Kreacher why you know this Hocrux," ordered Sirius.

"But the house elf bound with the last master order cannot broke Regulus order," it makes Kreacher cry louder.

"Stop crying," order Sirius once more.

Kreacher instantly stop crying but those who seen him clearly knows that he is still crying and because of magic no tears and sob sound come from his mouth.

"He had the last order from Regulus, it was your brother who told him to keep it quiet Sirius and as the house elf he can't betray whatever his master had ordered," revealed Dudley.

"Wait, is this about my brother Regulus?" asked Sirius looked surprised.

Even Harry was looking at Dudley, clearly invested to know the secret.

"Your brother is the first person who realised Voldemort had created Horcrux and he with Kreacher had hunted the Horcrux, unfortunately he died and Kreacher last mission is to keep the secret of him dying or hunting the horcrux from any Black members, that is why he couldn't say anything about it to you," revealed Dudley.
