Chapter 148: Locket
When Harry and Sirius stepped inside the cave, they smelled something unpleasant but they didn't recognize the smell only Dudley who had once went to morgue noticed it was the smell of fomaldehyde.
The reason why it smell so pungent it is because of the existence of formaldehyde that keep the inferi corpse from rotting, the body need some muscles to move around and attack the intruder.
Formaldehyde was a substance that student, doctor, forensics and professor used to preserve the corpse, Dudley himself didn't know why Voldemort magic created formaldehyde substance maybe the magic itself produced that substance when Voldemort cast the magic, his intent to preserve the corpse so science work behind the scene and it created formaldehyde.
Whatever spell that Voldemort had used to keep the body from rotting, produced not just formaldehyde but also the smell of ammonia.
This place could become even more scarier if it is Dark, luckily before Dudley called them inside this cave, he had lit up the cave with his lumos magic brightening the entire cave.
Thanks to that Harry manage to find the bowl that contain unknown potion, the moment he stepped inside this cave.
"Is that the thing?" asked Harry, while pointing his finger to the bowl which located in the middle of stone rock, where they have stood up.
The stone is like a small island and the surrounding are a lake, clearly a trap for a visitor.
Kreacher who heard Harry question sobbed quite loudly, remembering the memory when his master forced him not to do anything and he was forced by Regulus to make sure he drink all the liquid inside the bowl.
"Yes," replied Dudley while looking at the sobbing Kreacher.
Meanwhile the corner of his eyes then noticed Sirius, moved around wanted to search Regulus body and he moved closer to the lake. Luckily with his athletic figure, he managed to outrun him and hold his hand and prevented him from touching the lake.
"Sirius, hold on," said Dudley. "If you touch the lake, the inferi magic would be activated."
"I wanted to find my brother," replied Sirius with anger on his tone.
"I know but we need to prepare some magic so we could find your brother," said Dudley trying to make sure Sirius stay calm in this situation.
Sirius looked at Dudley for a few second before nodding his head.
"You are right," he agreed with Dudley.
"Guys listen to me, I need everyone to know my plan first. I have checked the magic inside this cave and the first danger is a lake, the moment we touched the water, it would activate the magic and inferi would attack us all," warned Dudley.
"Really?" asked Harry, his face changed color a bit.
"Yeah, didn't you remember what Kreacher had told you," questioned Dudley.
Harry face become red, feeling embarassed but Sirius expression changed to angry.
"I believe Regulus had become one of the Inferi and to get his body back it would become difficult," Dudley decided to drop the bomb.
"WHAT," shouted Sirius.
"MASTER REGULUS," Kreacher cried even louder.
Sirius and Kreacher were very shocked that they raised their voice so high.
"Yes, there is only one way to bring Regulus body," said Dudley. "We need to activate inferi magic and when they attacked us we need to identify which one is Regulus body."
Everyone become silent even Kreacher stopped crying hearing that his master Regulus had become one of that monster.
"Damn It Moldyshort," Sirius face looked very angry.
"I know but right now, I will create defensive spell so the inferi couldn't attack us and I need you and kreacher to identify which one is Regulus," said Dudley while pointing his finger to the two of them.
Sirius exhaled heavily before looking at Dudley.
"I am ready," said Sirius.
"I also ready Master," added Kreacher, his tears had stopped because he didn't want it affect this entire operation to search for master regulus body.
"Ok," smiled Dudley. "Before that how about we take that locket to keep it, it was the last item that had Regulus memory.
Hearing this both Kreacher and Sirius fell silent.
"Ok," answered Sirius.
Dudley didn't look at them instead he walked towards the bowl and looked to the bowl. This potion prevent any wizard to use accio magic or even take the locket from it. Even with dry magic or they are trying to remove the potion it would reproduce it, making it impossible to take them item inside.
Only when anyone drink it, does a potion inside didn't reproduce the subtance. Unfortunately those who drink this potion would be in bad situation. It would make any person in very weak condition, some memory would appear, a very bad memory and he or she wanted to die in that condition.
But Dudley have more powerful magic, he can use portal magic that can appear anywhere. So he waved his hand in circular motion.
Suddenly inside the bowl where a locket located, there was similar portal that Dudley just used and another portal appear just beside Dudley.
The locket moved towards the portal and it appear beside Dudley, he catched it before it fall to the ground.
A moment later, the potion were filled up again and this time it was shaking because finding out something was missing. It produced steam and Dudley who felt something gonna turn bad, it might explode or do anything that could hurt them. So in this short moment Dudley decided open a portal and send that bowl and potion to a moon surface.
Luckily moon surface have some ozone layer called Exosphere that have helium, argon and neon, so this think helps atmospheric pressure didn't suck them inside. Just imagine if a portal appear and sucked Sirius, Harry and Kreacher into it.
While he did this, Sirius forgot about his sadness he watched Dudley used very advanced magic and deal with this threat like it is nothing. It wasn't just him even Harry was too stun to speak anything and Kreacher he didn't react at all with Dudley magic, he had seen more powerful magic that Dudley had used when he become a temporary house elf and helps Dursley family.
What he reacted is the locket on Dudley hands, he recognize it immediately although it happens many years ago.
The last memory with his master Regulus Black, Kreacher cried without a sound and only tears come out from his eyes.
