"You move a step, I'll have you beheaded!" Delilah shrieked.
The attendants stood paralyzed between terror and duty. No one wanted to gamble.
Delilah came closer, scissors raised.
Something inside Sera snapped.
As Delilah closed the distance, Sera stepped forward instead of back and shoved her with both hands. Hard.
The force stunned even her.
Delilah's body flew backward, crashing into a styling station. Bottles shattered. A mirror fractured with a spiderweb crack. She hit the floor in a tangle of fury.
The room gasped as one.
Sera stood there, chest heaving. She stared at her own hands.
That was not normal.
Slowly, she lifted her gaze to the mirror across the room.
Her reflection stared back.
And her eyes were not entirely hers.
Silver flashed through her irises.
A pulse of power rolled through her veins.
Then pain struck.
It was sudden and vicious, lancing through her midsection. Her breath left her in a broken sound as her knees buckled.
