In a dark lit room where light never seem to catch. Three men stood, their face girm with seriousness and in front of them was a dead rogue which they caught. Alexander walked into the room, his aura was dark and suffocating making them aware that the king has arrived.
"Your majesty." The three men greated in unison. Alexander nodded his head, his eyes scanning what was on the table. "What do you have for me?" he asked, his voice echoed through the enclosed room.
"Your majesty, the blood of the rogues have been contaminated." Darrick said his eyes scanning the papers he was holding. "Their blood contains vampire essence but it's very faint, whoever did this had no idea what he is tampering with." Darrick said.
"Or he knew exactly what he was doing." Arthur interjected. "Your majesty, Darrick made mention of these rogues were human injected with vampire essence which transformed them into poorly made vampires and not just that, some of them are actual vampires whose blood were contaminated with something unknown."
Alexander let out a frustrated sigh, his eyes fixated on the lifeless rogue lying on the cold table.
"This one couldn't make it." Darrick said.
Alexander shifted his gaze to him. "Elaborate." he commanded, his voice a dangerous calm that sent shivers round the room.
"It wasn't when we captured it but on our way to the dungeon. It began convulsing and then died, something like a self destruct button if that is possible. Whoever did this is well away for what he is doing." Darrick explained.
"Then we have nothing fruitful to work with, it would have been better if the rogue was alive so we could question it for answers." Arthur released a frustrating sigh.
Alexander ran his hand through his hair, he had a lot to deal with and a bunch of rogue vampires where the least thing he needed right now. His eyes wondered around and it landed on a book close to the dead rogue.
"What's that?" he asked.
Arthur and Darrick's eyes followed Alexander's eyes to the book on the table. "Oh I found it in the library, I was in search of any ancient history of rogue vampires and I found something interesting." Arthur picked up the book and opened to particular page.
"Here, it says during the time of the fifth king, it was reported that a village of vampires in the west became rogues. After months of intensive research, it was found that the reasons for the rogue was a plant, the plant is said to be very deadly and it only grew in a particular mountain once every thousand years. But unfortunately they couldn't find a cure because the rogues died not long after." Derrick explained.
"Does the plant still exist?" Alexander asked, Derrick placed the book on the table. "Not that I know of Your majesty, the third king destroyed the mountain." he answered.
"This is... Serious." Marcus who has been silent all the while spoke.
"it is Indeed." Derrick responded.
Alexander folded his arms. "Do you think the plant is the cause of this?" he asked, his dark eyes carefully scanning Derrick.
"I don't know but it has to be. I looked at the symptoms and it is the same as the corpse, Pale skin, black visible veins, claws and red eyes, it looks exactly as the one in the picture." Derrick said pushing the book to the King so he could get a clear view of what he was saying.
Alexander leaned forward, his eyes scanning the picture on the book, everything was the same execpt, the one on the book has pitch black eyes while the corpse they caught has red eyes.
He straighten up his body. "What's your take on all of this?" he asked.
"Your majesty, there is still a lot that we need to do about this rogues, I don't have anything substantial they are all assumptions. First I would really like to believe that this plant still exist and that is what is causing the people to go rogue, if it was other wise and I'm afraid I can't even think about it and would rather go with the first assumption." Derrick explained.
"Same here, I would hate to believe it is something else." Arthur added.
"Then we'll continue to look for more clues to see what we've missed and also pay close attention to the corpse." Alexander said,
"I would do that your majesty." Derrick said.
"Good." Alexander said before he turned around and walked away, Arthur tailed behind him and not quite long, Marcus left the room.
The two men walked in silence. "Is there something on your mind Alex?" Arthur asked, he noticed the king's demineor change after sometime.
Alexander stopped walking which made Arthur stop. "How did Serena's lesson go?" He asked. Arthur was surprised, after everything that was discussed the first person he thinks about is lady Serena.
"It went well, though I couldn't stay to oversee it because I had matters to attend to but the princess did check up on her. Is there a problems?" Arthur asked.
Alexander began walking. "Hmm." he hummed. "Keep an eye on Marcus, it seems like he has an idea on the sudden rogues, I want to know everything he does, who he talks with, where he goes, every single detail." he commanded.
"Yes Your majesty. I also noticed him, judging by his demineor, he knows something about it, Lord Marcus is not one to stay quiet for a long time." Arthur said.
Alexander didn't say anything, all he wanted was to stop this once and for all and it might be an excuse to go finally kill Marcus or whoever is in charge of this.
They stopped in front of the king's study. "Alex, do you think Marcus is in charge of this?" Arthur asked.
"Marcus is a fucking bastard but he's not stupid enough to wage war with me so there is someone he is working for. First, solve the case of the rogues then we'll deal with Marcus later, while Derrick finds out about the plant, search for something else that turned the vampires into rogue, I want to know what that unknow is." Alexander said, his eyes held a glint of excitment in it. Arthur nodded before turning on his heels, though he wanted to question the king about it but decided to let it go. They would speak about it later.
Alexander walked into his study. He has a lot of work to attend to. While he went through some papers, his mind drifted to his pet. She was so scared last night, she fell asleep clutching her chest tightly.
While he placed her on the bed, he noticed the necklace she was wearing. It looked ancient, it was a tear drop shapes necklace, light blue in colour, it has weird symbols on it. Alexander stared at it for a while before covering her with the duvet.
He still thought about it. Serena was not an ordinary slave nor was she from a small village, her identity is different. A slow smirk appeared on his face.
interesting.
