===============================

Sun Jing launched herself high into the air, twisting mid-jump as her fairy bow gleamed. She drew back the string and released-mana-imbued arrows streaked forward in flashes of pink light.

Raynare scoffed and conjured a magenta light spear, spinning it with practiced ease. One by one, the arrows were knocked aside only to detonate a heartbeat later in a chain of sharp, popping explosions.

"Tch." Raynare clicked her tongue, wings beating to keep her aloft. "Persistent."

"Issei," Sun Jing called without looking back, already firing another volley. "Mind getting Asia out of here?"

She skimmed across the surface of the pond, her boots barely touching the water as she glided, then slid to a stop in front of them.

"Let me help!" Issei shouted. "Sacred Gear!"

A green light burst from his left arm. In an instant, a red gauntlet formed with a glowing green jewel and two golden spikes along its edge.

Raynare burst out laughing. "You've got to be kidding me. That's your Sacred Gear?"

"W-what's so funny?!" Issei snapped.

"That's just a Twice Critical," Raynare sneered. "All it does is double the user's power. In your hands? It's worthless."

Issei stared at the gauntlet. "...I'm that useless?"

Sun Jing landed beside him and turned sharply. "No." Her voice was firm. She jabbed a finger into his chest. "You're not useless. And neither is that Sacred Gear."

She met his eyes. "Right now, your job is to get Asia out of here. Protect her. That's your purpose."

Issei clenched his teeth, then nodded. He grabbed Asia's wrist. "Come on let's go!"

"B-but we can't just leave her!" Asia protested.

"She'll be fine," Issei said, pulling her along. "Trust me. We'll just get in the way."

With them retreating, Sun Jing turned back to Raynare just in time to dodge another light spear that ripped through the air where her head had been a second earlier. She twisted, slid, and let the spear crash harmlessly into the water behind her.

Raynare descended, eyes burning. "You're fast. I'll give you that."

"Thanks," Sun Jing replied lightly, skidding across the pond's surface again. "I've been practicing."

She planted her foot, drew her bow to its limit, and released it.

Pink light filled the sky.

A rain of glowing arrows poured down, streaking toward Raynare from every angle. The fallen angel raised her arms to defend herself and several arrows slammed into her wings and side, exploding on impact and sending her spiraling backward through the air.

Raynare hissed in pain as she barely steadied herself, feathers scattering across the water.

Issei held tightly onto Asia's wrist as he guided her away from the pond, his footsteps quick and uneven.

"Come on, Asia... we gotta move!" he said, still glancing back every few seconds.

The sounds of battle echoed behind them explosions of mana, splashing water, and sharp cracks of light spears tearing through the air.

A shadow dropped down in front of them.

Issei skidded to a stop so fast his shoes scraped against the pavement.

A middle-aged man stood calmly in their path, as if he'd been waiting the entire time. He had short black hair and dark blue eyes, wearing a pale gray trench coat over a crisp white dress shirt, a matching ascot, black pants, polished shoes, black gloves... and a black fedora?

"There you are, Asia," the man said smoothly. "We've been looking everywhere for you."

Issei's blood ran cold. "...Who the hell is this?"

Asia's face drained of color.

"T-that's..." her voice trembled.

"That's Dohnaseek..." Asia answered quietly.

Issei clenched his fists. "Another Fallen Angel?!"

Dohnaseek grinned. "Come now. Don't look so frightened. We only want what belongs to us."

Asia took a step back, her hands shaking. "I-I don't want to go back..."

Dohnaseek's smile faded. "That isn't your decision."

Raynare was panting, blood dripping into the shallow water beneath her. Her wings twitched violently, feathers stained dark.

Sun Jing stood in front of her, calm as ever.

She casually slid her fairy bow back into her inventory.

Then she stepped forward.

Raynare tried to lift her spear-

But Sun Jing was already in front of her.

She reached out and pressed her hand flat against Raynare's stomach.

Raynare's violet eyes widened.

"W-what-?!"

Sun Jing's magenta-red eyes narrowed.

[Cursed Technique- Shrine]

"Dismantle."

A barrage of invisible slashes erupted across Raynare's body.

SHHK-SHHK-SHHK!

Blood sprayed everywhere.

Raynare gasped, stumbling backward as if something had ripped through her from every direction. Her spear slipped from her fingers and splashed into the water.

She stared down at herself, horrified.

"N-no... I didn't even-!"

Her body shook as she dropped to her knees in the pond, bleeding everywhere.

She couldn't understand what hit her, hell she couldn't even see it.

Sun Jing slipped her hands back into her hoodie pockets and looked down at her like she was nothing.

"Hey," Sun Jing said casually, voice cold underneath the calm. "Who's the other Fallen you sent after them?"

Raynare's eyes trembled. "Wh-what...?"

"You heard me." Sun Jing tilted her head slightly. "The other one. The one you sent after Issei and Asia."

Raynare grit her teeth, coughing blood.

"I don't know what you're talking about..."

Sun Jing sighed, as if she'd expected that answer.

"Alright then." She pulled her fairy bow back out.

Raynare's eyes widened in panic.

Sun Jing turned her head in the direction Issei and Asia ran off to.

A massive arrow formed far larger than any she'd fired before, pulsing with magical energy like a glowing spear of destruction.

Sun Jing drew the bowstring back slowly.

Raynare's voice cracked. "W-wait-!"

Sun Jing's eyes narrowed.

"That's fine," she said calmly. "I'll just send your friends a little hello gift." She released the bowstring.

The giant arrow screamed through the air like a meteor, ripping forward toward its target.

Sun Jing lowered her bow and turned back only to find empty water.

"...Huh?"

Raynare was gone.

Sun Jing's eyes widened slightly as she snapped her head back toward the sky.

Raynare was flying at full speed, wings beating desperately, chasing the massive mana arrow as it tore through the air toward Dohnaseek who had Issei and Asia cornered.
