Chapter 17 - Forest Of The Divine : Chapter 5

I looked at the giant forest that lay in-front of me, the trees casting their shadows over the life-less surroundings.

"At least I made it in one piece"

I had to find Beatrice quickly, my system had mostly been restored.

The forest was crucial, this is where the Shrine was located. An ancient piece of equipment that is now nothing more than an obsolete stone, but it can still help Beatrice connect to her other-side .

As I probed into the forest I saw ashes, burning, ablaze.

I wonder if a fight had broken out around here.

I bent down to pick up a few samples of the ashes,

"Mana rich fire"

It was undoubtedly Beatrice who caused this, only a fire from someone of divine lineage could linger around for this long.

I stood up and followed the trail of ashes left behind by her,

As I did the frequency of the ashes increased from just a handful to at times piles of them until,

*CRISP*

It was a battlefield, Beatrice was fighting up against a mob of shadows.

"HEY! Beatrice! Come this way!" I called out to her, the amount of Shadows that lingered there far exceeded what I was capable of handling on my own.

But I was ignored. She didnt even budge an inch, instead,

"BURN!"

With that command , a blinding ray of light flashed across the entire forest,it's density enough to blind someone who dared to look directly upon her. Truly it felt like the sun had risen.

"I dont need to run from them. I know how to control my powers now"

Beatrice stated looking at my direction, her eyes were red and I knew she was angry at me.

"About earlier Beatrice , look I am sorry for just rushing off without explaining myse-"

"Shutup, I dont care about you rushing off, I know you had reasons I dont want to know what they are because even if i ask you'll just make some excuse like you always do ."

Well she knew me too well. I would have made an excuse for sure.

She and I sat down, even though she said she didnt care , I knew that she did.

She always cared too much but never showed it.

I decided to explain to her the reason why I wanted to come to this forest. It was the least I could do, instead of telling at the end moment I should tell her now.
