Chapter 110 - Chapter 110: Wilderness Training

Chapter 110: Wilderness Training

As for Pupitar, it fell under Arbok's supervision.

Arbok's patience wasn't just small; it was practically microscopic. Facing its formerly rebellious little brother, Arbok showed no mercy, drilling Pupitar relentlessly.

Pupitar, being stubborn and reckless, knew it was going to get beaten up but still charged straight at Arbok anyway.

While his Pokémon trained, Kenji, having nothing better to do, pulled a collapsible fishing rod from his backpack and sat by the lake to fish.

Whether in his past life or this one, Kenji had never been much of a fishing enthusiast, so unsurprisingly, he caught absolutely nothing.

Not even a common Magikarp took the bait.

This left Kenji feeling a bit dejected. He muttered to himself, consoling his ego, "It must be because Gyarados and the others made too much noise sparring. Scared all the fish in the lake into hiding."

Having successfully comforted himself, Kenji waved to his Pokémon, signaling them to stop.

He then recalled Arbok, Pupitar, and Gyarados back into their Pokéballs.

After packing up, he prepared to continue his journey.

"Scraggy..."

Just as Kenji slung his backpack over his shoulder, he heard a cry. Scraggy darted out from the bushes, holding up its "pants," and ran right up to Kenji.

"Uh... do you... want to come with me?"

Kenji looked at Scraggy in confusion. Seeing Scraggy point repeatedly at the Pokéballs on his waist, Kenji asked, surprised.

Unexpectedly, upon hearing Kenji's question, Scraggy nodded immediately.

Kenji's mouth twitched. He silently criticized Scraggy for being so love-struck.

For the sake of love, it was actually willing to be captured by a trainer.

Kenji hesitated, but eventually shook his head. "Sorry, little guy. I can't take you with me."

First, this Scraggy's potential was only B-Rank. It was decent, but only decent. In Kenji's current team, even if he helped it reach 4-Stars, it would likely just be dragging the team down.

Second, he already had a full team of six Pokémon. His desire to catch more wasn't very strong right now; one more Pokémon meant one more distraction.

Third, and most importantly, Kenji didn't know Gyarados's attitude.

Given Gyarados's violent temper, it probably wouldn't appreciate a little simp trailing behind its tail all day.

After weighing the pros and cons, Kenji ultimately rejected Scraggy's request to join the team.

Hearing Kenji's words, Scraggy looked disappointed. Kenji took out two High-grade Dark-type Pokéblocks from his bag and handed them to Scraggy. Rubbing its head, he said, "I'm leaving now. Bye-bye."

Scraggy lowered its head, looking at the Pokéblocks in its hand, then at Kenji, who was shouldering his bag and walking west. It seemed dazed, or perhaps deep in thought.

"Lie!!—"

Kenji hadn't taken two steps when suddenly, two slender, purple figures with yellow spots leaped out from the bushes.

It was none other than two Liepards.

"Holy crap!!—"

Kenji was startled and instinctively dodged to the side.

But the next moment, the two Liepards lowered their bodies, presenting their backs to Kenji and Ninetales.

Kenji looked closer and realized why these two Liepards looked so familiar.

Whoa! Aren't these the two Liepards that carried us here?

Kenji looked at them with a strange expression.

These two... did they get addicted to the High-grade Pokéblocks and refuse to leave?

That was indeed the case. The two Liepards had never tasted such delicious food before. Plus, this human, Kenji, had shown no malice toward them.

Naturally, they were reluctant to leave so easily.

Kenji couldn't help but smile. He poured a few more Dark-type Pokéblocks from his bag and fed them to the Liepards.

Ninetales was a lazy fox. She barely wanted to walk herself, let alone let Kenji ride her.

Since these two Liepards were willing to serve as transport, it was perfect.

Moreover, both Liepards had the Limber ability, so riding them wasn't uncomfortable at all. They made ideal mounts.

It was just a pity their potential was so weak—one was E-Rank, the other D-.

Kenji and Ninetales, along with Bellossom held in Ninetales's arms, rode the two Liepards westward. They traveled until dusk, when Kenji finally stopped near a river.

They were very close to Kenji's target Red Zone now.

Kenji decided to rest for the night and continue the journey tomorrow.

He paid the two Liepards their fare, and the sensible Pokémon turned and disappeared back into the tall grass.

Following his routine, Kenji released his Pokémon from their balls while he set up the tent.

By the time the sky turned completely dark, Kenji's tent was pitched.

With Ninetales around, starting a fire was no trouble. Kenji built a fire by the riverbank. Gyarados stayed in the water, poking its head out to eat Pokéblocks from a dish on the shore.

The other Pokémon sat around the campfire, heads buried in their food.

They truly practiced the rule of "no talking while eating."

"Rustle, rustle..."

Kenji was slurping his instant noodles when he heard a rustling sound from the nearby bushes. He immediately looked up toward the source of the noise.

His other Pokémon also looked up in unison. Only Ninetales continued to leisurely use her psychic power to float Pokéblocks into her mouth, one by one.

"Scraggy..."

A familiar voice came from the bushes. The next moment, a small yellow figure holding up its "pants" emerged.

It was none other than that Scraggy.

Kenji's eyes widened, and he rubbed them in disbelief.
