Chapter 127 - Chapter 126: Fork Out

"As everyone knows, today's selection exam marks the first joint Chunin Exam ever held by the Five Great Villages."

"Konoha, Hidden Cloud, Hidden Mist, Hidden Stone, and Hidden Sand. In this era, opportunities for shinobi from different villages to directly compete are extremely rare."

"This is an invaluable chance for each of you to demonstrate the results of your training," Shikamaru said as his gaze swept across the gathered Genin below.

When his eyes landed on Chocho—who was loudly crunching on potato chips—the corner of his mouth twitched.

"I can't stand it. On such a grand stage, do they even have the motivation they should?" he sighed inwardly.

"Everyone, feel free to display the results of your training. The first exam will be held in Exam Hall A at noon sharp."

"Until then, you're free to move around as you like. Dismissed."

As Shikamaru finished speaking, the Genin dispersed in groups.

At a bustling burger shop in Konoha Village, the noise was almost deafening.

"Boruto, where's Mitsuki?" Sarada asked, glancing at Boruto beside her.

"Mitsuki's probably running late for something." Boruto yawned lazily, looking relaxed.

At that moment, three Genin from the Hidden Cloud Village entered the shop, each holding a tray of burgers as they searched for a place to sit.

"Why are there so many people here? We can't even find a seat!" the long-haired Cloud Genin complained.

"Exactly. Konoha doesn't even have enough restaurants. The Chunin Exams should've been held in the Hidden Cloud instead," another, slightly overweight Genin with glasses grumbled.

"Yurui, what now?"

The overweight Genin looked at Yurui—the one with twin swords on his back and a necklace shaped like the Eight-Tails' head.

"If there aren't any seats, we'll just ask someone to move. Simple." Yurui's tone was arrogant as he spotted Boruto and Sarada sitting at a table.

He strode toward them, his teammates following close behind.

"Excuse me, could you move?" Yurui said curtly.

"Who are you?" Sarada frowned, clearly annoyed.

"Excuse me, could you move?" Yurui repeated, this time with less patience.

"Get lost," Boruto replied flatly, barely glancing up.

Yurui's face immediately darkened, his companions glaring. Back in Hidden Cloud, they were used to throwing their weight around—no one dared talk to them like that.

"Do you know who you're talking to, brat?" the overweight Genin snapped.

"Oh, didn't you hear me say get lost? Are you deaf or just blind?" Boruto drawled lazily. "Do I really have to beat your ass before you understand?"

Sarada tugged lightly on Boruto's sleeve, whispering, "Boruto, let me handle this."

The surrounding diners began murmuring among themselves, their attention fixed on the confrontation.

"Are those guys from Hidden Cloud?"

"Yeah, looks like they're here for the Chunin Exams."

"They're arrogant as hell—even before the exams start."

"Wait, isn't that Young Master Boruto?"

"They're trying to make him move? Those Cloud punks are asking for a beating."

Soon, several Konoha ninja eating nearby stood up, closing in around Yurui's group. The tension in the air spiked instantly.

Sarada had planned to use a genjutsu to defuse the situation—but seeing the group of Konoha shinobi glaring at the visitors, she hesitated.

"What the hell are you doing?"

Yurui and his companions tensed as the circle around them tightened.

"Hmph. Causing trouble in Konoha? Do you idiots even know who you're talking to?" a rough voice called out from the crowd.

A burly Konoha ninja stepped forward, flanked by a few others who looked eager for a fight.

"This is the most distinguished person in Konoha—the grandson of the Fourth Hokage, the hero who saved the entire shinobi world, and the son of the Seventh Hokage! The hero's son!"

"You Hidden Cloud brats actually dared to ask Young Master Boruto to move? You've got some nerve!"

Yurui's face paled. He hadn't expected things to spiral this badly.

"I'm sorry. We were out of line," Yurui muttered, tugging on his companions' sleeves. "Let's go."

"Going somewhere?" The burly Konoha ninja blocked their path.

"You cause trouble in our village and think you can just walk away? You think Konoha's a playground?" he snarled.

"Then what do you want?" Yurui shot back coldly.

"Simple. Kneel and kowtow three times to Young Master Boruto," the man sneered.

"What the hell? Is this Konoha or the damn Yakuza?" Yurui snapped, his voice dripping with disbelief.

Boruto stood up and waved his hand. "Forget it. No need for that."

He smirked slightly. "Just kick them out."

"Understood, Young Master Boruto."

The group of Konoha ninja lunged forward and roughly hauled Yurui and his teammates toward the door.

"We're truly sorry, Young Master Boruto," the burly ninja said respectfully. "We didn't mean to disturb your meal."

Boruto waved him off. "It's fine."

In a corner of the restaurant, Yodo watched the scene unfold, then turned to Shinki.

"So that's the Seventh Hokage's son? Konoha sure protects him like royalty," she remarked.

By noon, the ninjas from every village had returned to the Chunin Exam venue after their break.

"Boruto."

A calm, familiar voice called from behind. Boruto turned to see Chōjūrō, the Sixth Mizukage, wearing his white robes and hat.

"Uncle Chōjūrō! Long time no see," Boruto greeted.

"Yes, it's been a while," Chōjūrō replied warmly. "I was grateful for your help last time."

"I had planned to bring Kagura with me, but he had to stay behind to handle the village's affairs," he added with a smile.

"However, Kagura asked me to tell you this—he looks forward to meeting you again, Boruto. Next time, as a Chunin. He said he wants to experience the strength that once humbled him."
