"'Experience my pain,' huh? Haha, Kagura really took what I said that day to heart," Boruto chuckled.
"Yes," Chōjūrō replied with a calm smile. "As my successor, Kagura trains hard every day. He hopes to meet you again soon—and test himself against your swordsmanship."
"I'm looking forward to it," Boruto nodded.
"With your current strength, you've already surpassed many Chunin," Chōjūrō said seriously. "If you end up facing someone from my village during the exams, try to go easy on them."
His eyes shifted toward the three Sanka brothers from the Hidden Mist, standing among the other candidates.
"I'll keep that in mind," Boruto said with a faint grin.
"Damn it… that blond brat is really the Seventh Hokage's son?"
"He actually humiliated us like that in Konoha—getting kicked out of a restaurant in front of everyone!"
After being thrown out, Yurui and his two teammates from Hidden Cloud stood near the exam venue, glaring daggers at Boruto from a distance. Their faces twisted with rage and humiliation.
"Yurui, what do we do now? The whole village will laugh at us when we go back," the overweight Genin with glasses muttered.
"Hmph. Konoha's getting too arrogant," Yurui growled, clenching his fists. "Hidden Cloud isn't something they can look down on."
"We'll show them during this Chunin Exam. We'll make them pay."
He sneered. "Son of the Hokage… you better hope you don't face me in the prelims, or you'll regret it."
Inside the exam venue, Genin from every village were already taking their positions.
"Oh, Lord Tsuchikage, here to watch the first test?" Darui, now wearing the Raikage's hat, approached Kurotsuchi with his guards and Kankuro beside him.
"You're really dedicated," he said with a teasing grin.
Kurotsuchi turned, smirking. "You're one to talk, Darui."
"Well, this is the first-ever joint Five Village Exam. Naturally, we can't take it lightly," Darui said.
"I wonder how many interesting candidates we'll see this time," Kurotsuchi mused.
Darui sighed. "Peace is a blessing, but it's also made strong Chunin rarer. Hopefully, a few standouts emerge."
"Oh, by the way," Kurotsuchi added, "I heard Naruto's son is participating this year."
Darui chuckled. "Naruto's son, huh? The last time I saw him at the Five Kage Summit, he turned into Pain and scared the hell out of everyone."
Kurotsuchi's eyes gleamed with curiosity. "Haha, I'm actually curious to see how strong he is. I heard he can fly using some kind of ninjutsu—kind of like our Light-Weight Rock Technique. I'd like to see what trick he's using."
"Speaking of which," she turned to Kankuro, "isn't the Kazekage here yet? The exam's about to start."
"He's on his way," Kankuro replied, eyes focused on the large monitor.
"Ah, everyone's gathered," Chōjūrō said as he approached with his guards.
"Mizukage, you made it just in time. It's about to begin," Kurotsuchi waved, then turned back to the screen.
Inside Exam Hall A, the Genin from every village stood in formation, waiting for instructions from the proctor standing on stage.
Sai glanced over the group, his calm expression unchanged.
"Everyone's here," he said flatly. "Now, I'll announce the content of the first test."
The tension in the air was palpable. Every Genin focused intently, afraid to miss even a single word.
"The first test," Sai said, his tone deceptively calm, "is a true or false quiz."
The entire room froze.
Then came an uproar.
"What? A true or false quiz? That's it?"
Sai continued, unfazed. "The quiz location is at Test Site B—twenty kilometers from here."
He held up a stopwatch. "You'll be timed. Any Genin who can't reach the site within one hour will be immediately disqualified."
Gasps spread through the crowd.
"Additionally," Sai added coldly, "the route is filled with traps. Those who trigger traps and lose the ability to continue will also be disqualified. Only those who reach the site within the time limit will be eligible to take the quiz."
The moment he finished, several Genin bolted from the room, sprinting toward the forest path without hesitation.
Others quickly followed, unwilling to waste even a second.
Within moments, the hall was filled with the sound of footsteps and the lingering swirl of dust.
Only three people remained standing still—Boruto, Mitsuki, and Sarada.
Sai lowered the stopwatch, raising an eyebrow. "My explanation wasn't finished yet…"
A familiar voice came from the entrance.
"Your explanation was the trap. If we listened to the whole thing, we'd already be late," Shikamaru said, stepping forward with a knowing smile.
"Huh? Boruto, why are you three still here?" Sai asked.
"We're not in a rush," Boruto said casually, hands behind his head.
"Let the others trip the traps first. Then we'll move once the coast is clear," Mitsuki explained coolly.
"Anyway, it's only twenty kilometers. We can take our time," Sarada added with a grin.
Shikamaru sighed. "Heh, you kids really are sharp."
Meanwhile, deep within the forest route to Test Site B, Tenten stood silently atop a tree branch.
Her white training uniform fluttered slightly as she watched the chaos unfold below.
"Even if it's an exam, we still have to take it seriously," she murmured. "No holding back."
Her words were followed by several screams echoing through the forest.
A number of Genin had already fallen into hidden traps—pitfalls, explosive tags, and spring-loaded stakes bursting from the ground.
Explosions boomed one after another, smoke rising through the dense trees. The scene looked more like a battlefield than a test route.
"Hmph. You think a few traps can stop us?"
A brown-haired boy from Iwagakure in a red ninja suit smirked as he sped ahead. His teammates followed close behind.
"Ninja Art: Black Tortoise Six Armor Overlord Formation—108th Style—Modified!" he shouted, forming hand seals.
The two Genin beside him mimicked his movements, preparing to release the jutsu in sync.
Iwabe and Denki, watching from behind, looked intrigued.
"Iwabe, those guys from Iwagakure are about to use something crazy! That technique name sounds insane—it's gotta be powerful!" Denki said.
"Yeah," Iwabe nodded. "Anyone who yells something that long must be about to blow something up."
The trio from Iwagakure threw their hands forward—
—and immediately tripped over a tree root.
All three faceplanted into the dirt and slid several meters forward before one of them accidentally smacked his hand down on an explosive tag.
A thunderous boom! rocked the forest.
When the smoke cleared, the three lay sprawled on the ground—scorched, smoking, and half-conscious.
The nearby Genin stared in disbelief.
"…Well, so much for their 'Overlord Formation,'" Denki muttered, disappointed.
"I didn't even get to see what it looked like," Metal Lee sighed.
Iwabe could only shake his head. "That was… embarrassing."
Up in the stands, Raikage Darui couldn't help but laugh.
"Hahaha! Those Iwagakure kids really went out with style."
Beside him, Tsuchikage Kurotsuchi's face turned red with anger.
"Those idiots!" she snapped, slamming a fist against the armrest. "When they get back, I'm retraining every last one of them myself!"
