BOOM!
The wooden man's fist smashed into Manda's head, blasting open a crater.
The shockwave scorched the jungle—flowers, trees, and even the smallest animals were reduced to ash.
As a living creature, Manda was at a disadvantage. The overwhelming force made its skull ache, and it roared in fury.
Even so, the wooden giant staggered back from the recoil, leaving Itsuki momentarily stiff.
Orochimaru seized the chance. He leapt high from Manda's head, raising his right hand toward Itsuki.
Hidden Shadow Snake Hands!
Dozens of massive serpents shot from Orochimaru's sleeves, striking from every angle.
Itsuki, still stiff from the clash, released his chakra at once.
Secret Technique: Almighty Push!
A violent repulsion burst outward.
The first wave of snakes was obliterated—smashed apart in a shower of blood and flesh.
But Almighty Push only unleashed one pulse. Orochimaru had summoned more than one wave.
The next group surged forward, fangs snapping, bodies coiling.
Some lunged to bite Itsuki directly, others slithered to bind him down.
Fortunately, the repulsion had given him a moment to recover.
Wood Release: Great Forest Technique!
Wooden vines erupted from his hands, whipping forward like living serpents.
They coiled around Orochimaru's snakes, wrapping them tightly and halting their advance.
But Orochimaru wasn't finished. Using one of his own snakes as a tether, he slung himself toward the wooden man.
At the same time, Manda recovered and lunged, coiling its massive body around the wooden giant, constricting with terrifying strength.
Orochimaru charged, the Kusanagi Blade gleaming in his hand.
Itsuki's eyes narrowed.
Again.
Last time, against Danzo, he had nearly been killed using the wooden giant.
And now, Orochimaru was faster, deadlier, closing in like lightning.
The wooden giant was a Gundam—powerful against monsters, but clumsy against small, agile foes.
A cannon against a mosquito. It left Itsuki exposed.
Still, standing atop the wooden giant amplified his Wood Release, boosting both speed and power.
As Orochimaru swung, Itsuki used a wooden substitution, his real body slipping free to appear at Orochimaru's side.
His fist rocketed toward the sannin's skull.
But Orochimaru's body crumbled into mud. Earth Substitution Jutsu!
The chakra-infused mud hardened instantly, clamping around Itsuki's arm.
"Success!" Orochimaru hissed.
Before Itsuki could break free, Orochimaru emerged from the side, snakes bursting from his sleeves. They wrapped around Itsuki, fangs bared.
The snakes carried paralyzing venom—one bite would leave Itsuki numb, his chakra spiraling into chaos.
This time, no substitutions, no tricks.
Itsuki had no choice—he would need to reveal more of his hidden abilities.
And that was exactly what he didn't want: Orochimaru turning his gaze away from Sasuke, and onto him.
But then—
"Let go of Itsuki-kun!"
A fierce, delicate voice rang out.
Karin.
She stomped down on Manda's head, leapt into the air, and golden chains burst from her back.
They shot forward at blinding speed, slicing through the air.
Neither Itsuki nor Orochimaru had sensed her approach, locked as they were in their clash.
Even Orochimaru froze, stunned by the sudden display. Uzumaki chains.
That hesitation was enough.
Karin's Adamantine Sealing Chains whipped through, tearing the snakes from Itsuki's body.
She pressed forward, ready to block Orochimaru's escape routes.
Snarling, Orochimaru disengaged, springing backward off the wooden giant.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The chains smashed into the wooden colossus, spraying chips of timber—but Orochimaru's robes didn't even brush against them.
Itsuki moved to pursue—but suddenly groaned, stumbling.
One of Orochimaru's snakes had managed to sink its fangs into him before retreating, pumping a dose of toxin into his veins.
"Itsuki-kun, are you okay?!"
Karin rushed forward, ignoring Orochimaru entirely. She supported him anxiously.
Orochimaru hung in the air, smiling down.
"Hehehe… Itsuki-kun, your power far exceeded my expectations. Today was quite fun. But I must go. I look forward to our next meeting!"
With a clap of smoke, the snakes vanished. Orochimaru dissolved into green mist, slipping away.
"Tch! Only an idiot would look forward to seeing you again," Karin spat, her voice sharp but trembling.
She glanced back at Itsuki, worry plain in her eyes.
"I'm fine." Itsuki stretched his arms, rolling his shoulders.
The venom wasn't lethal—just meant to paralyze briefly. His chakra was already flushing it out.
He could have broken free by force with the Adamantine Sealing Chains or used his Sharingan's Genjutsu to control Orochimaru's snakes… but revealing either of those powers would have been far too risky.
At least for now, he had no desire to paint a target on his back for Orochimaru.
After all, Orochimaru's next body transfer wasn't far off.
Sasuke was Indra's reincarnation—he would never succeed. Itsuki refused to risk becoming the "backup container."
"Karin, please stay here and look after Sakura and the others. I'll be back soon."
Itsuki released the wooden giant, then without so much as a word to Team 7—who had only just arrived—he turned and left.
Tsunade wasn't here. That meant she was setting up her ambush elsewhere.
But Orochimaru was slippery. Even with Tsunade's preparations, Itsuki doubted she could corner him completely.
He closed his eyes, activating Kagura's Mind Eye. His senses stretched outward… and locked onto Tsunade blocking Orochimaru's path.
The next instant, he saw a figure crash through the forest canopy, blasted away from Konoha's borders.
Orochimaru's enraged roar followed:
"TSUNADE!!!"
Swish!
Itsuki readied to give chase—
But a figure blocked his path. Shizune, with the tiny pig Tonton by her side.
"Itsuki-kun," Shizune said apologetically, "Lady Tsunade gave strict orders. This is her battle with Orochimaru. Please, don't interfere."
Her eyes softened, but her tone was firm.
"She also told me to remind you… your priority is the Chunin Exams. If you don't get a good ranking, she won't forgive you."
"..."
Itsuki stood frozen, caught between choices.
Shizune couldn't truly stop him—but leaving the Forest of Death now would mean forfeiting the exams entirely.
That last sentence… that was Tsunade's way of tying his hands.
If he ignored her, he would face the full wrath of her "Iron Fist of Love."
