When I saw Elena today, she was a sight for my sore eyes. I had searched for her all day. Finally returning yesterday to discover she had left the estate days before, from Max.
The detail left to watch her confirmed she has been in her apartment for days, yet getting here and not finding her at home had thrown me into a frenzy of worry.
When the door closed behind her, the hallway felt like it had collapsed inward. First, it was quiet, then suffocating. Her absence from my psychic field wasn't just silence; it was a wound.
I was not sure of what to do; ignoring me exacerbated the wound. I wanted to keep knocking till she opened the door and gave me some attention, but I didn't want to, because I wasn't sure she wanted me around anymore.
