Lucian adjusted the cuff of his blazer before stepping out of his bedroom, the crisp clicking of his shoes breaking the silence of the otherwise quiet mansion. He crossed the hall into the kitchen, staring at the stack of notes he'd left on the counter.
He looked up when a door opened across the hall. Enzo slipped out of Luca's room, his hair still damp from a rushed shower.
"I was wondering where you wandered off to," Lucian said, settling on a stool at the counter. "You're never up this early."
"Just checking on Luca," Enzo murmured. "You didn't sleep much."
"I didn't have time," Lucian sighed, flipping through the pages in front of him. "You seem exhausted."
"I am," Enzo yawned, hopping up onto the back of the couch to sit down.
"That explains the socks."
Enzo blinked, puzzled, before looking down at his mismatched socks. "...Huh…"
Lucian checked his watch before turning around on the stool. "If the boys aren't back soon, I'll have to head out alone."
