It's been a few days since Ryoken met Akiza. After staying at Zane's room initially, the Arc dorm was finally built and he moved there.
Of course he didn't go there alone, he was accompanied by Akiza and Zane.
Each one of them were given their own room, though Akiza protested and asked if Ryoken and her could be in the same room, Which was rejected due to academies strict policy.
They were also supposed to be assigned a homeroom teacher, as each dorm had its own but Ryoken was against it, saying there was no one qualified enough to teach him.
This resulted in a fight between him and the instructors, which ended with two sides dueling. And as expected Ryoken beat them relatively easily, thus they weren't assigned a homeroom teacher.
This was the thing Ryoken liked about this world. If something wasn't to your liking, you could simply change it with a duel.
Other than the three of them, the dorm only had a few staff members to do the cleaning and cooking job.
So Zane suggested that they can hold their own entrance exam and see if there's anyone qualified enough to join their dorm.
Seeing no harm in it, and knowing that he did need allies, he agreed with Zane and they posted an announcement for it.
The next day, the amount of people that were lined up to take the exam and join them was in three digits. To get in you simply had to either beat or hold your own against Zane, Ryoken or Akiza.
Some protested during their duels against Akiza, saying that she was cheating due to using Synchro cards.
Thankfully and weirdly enough, Akaba had lent them some help and told the students that Akiza is the daughter of a famous card maker and she's attending the academy to test the new cards, which are synchro monsters.
Obviously given that those were Akaba's words, students didn't question it any further and could only suck it up when they lost to Akiza.
Akiza had yet to experience a real opponent and was bored of dueling all those nobodies, till Alexis showed up, saying she was also interested in joining the Dorm.
A distance away from the two, Zane and Ryoken were watching them, to see how the duel would turn out.
"I just hope Aki goes easy on her."
"Calling each other by pet names? that's cute." Zane teased, enjoying messing with Ryoken.
It felt like joking around and having fun with a younger brother he didn't have.
(A/N: Yes Sirous isn't in this fic, Personally he's on the same tier list as Weevil and Rex for me, so basically a shit head.)
"You must be having so much fun joking about my love life when you don't have one."
Hearing that Zane could only shake his head as he chuckled "I just don't want to be distracted by women. As they say women only slow the speed which I draw my card at."
"Whatever. Wanna bet on who wins the duel?"
"I'm fine. it's obvious Akiza will win. Look they're about to start." He pointed towards them as they readied their duel disks.
"Duel!"

"I'll go first!" Alexis declared loud enough for everyone to hear "I summon Etoile Cyber in attack position!"

Akiza drew a card from the top of her deck in silence, not uttering a single word.

"I summon White Rose Dragon in the attack position."
a small dragon with white rose petals on its skin appeared on her field.

"When normal summoned, I can Special Summon 1 (Rose Dragon) monster from my hand or Graveyard. I special summon Roxrose Dragon in the attack position."
A dragon with a similar appearance to the White rose dragon appeared, but the petals covering its body were pink coloured.

"RoxRose Dragon effect activates. When normal or special summoned, from my deck I can add a card that mentions (Black Rose Dragon) to my hand. I add Basal Rose Shoot to my hand and set it."
"I tune my level 4 White Rose dragon to my level 3 RoxRose Dragon!"
"The cold flame envelops the entire world. violent flower, destroy! Synchro Summon! Appear, Bramble Rose Dragon!"
A dragon similar to Black Rose Dragon appeared. The aura it has was more violent and dangerous, with its long and thorny veins lashing down on the field, scarring the ground.

"Bramble Rose Dragon effect activates! I can tribute it to summon Black Rose Dragon from my extra deck, and it counts as Synchro summoning!"
"The cold flame envelops the entire world. Black flower, bloom! Reincarnation Synchro Summon! Appear, Black Rose Dragon!"

"Black Rose Dragon's effect activates! When summoned all cards' on the field except herself are destroyed!"
(A/N: Before saying it in comments, yes I changed the effect cuz why not. It was the same in the duel against Ryoken too, so don't think I just changed for the sake of this duel.)
"Not so fast! set card activate, Hallowed life barrier! I discard a card and this turn I won't take damage from battle or card effects!" Alexis said, shielding herself as the gust of wind and thorn hit her field, wiping it clean.
"The effect of my set card that was destroyed by my dragon activates! When Basal Rose Shoot is set and destroyed, I can special summon one (Black Rose Dragon) or a card that mentions it from the graveyard or banishment! Appear once again Bramble Rose Dragon!"
Bramble Rose Dragon 2400ATK/1800DEF
"Since you can't take damage this turn, I'll skip my attack phase and set a card to end my turn." She set a card in her trap and spell card zone before ending her turn.
"Your girlfriend is going all out against her huh? she took it easy with other students, does she have a grudge against Alexis?" Zane asked, curious about it.
"I'm as clueless as you are. If Alexis didn't have her trap card she was done in this turn."
Turn 3

"I draw."

"I activate the spell card warrior returning alive to return Etoile Cyber to my hand from the graveyard."
"I activate Polymerization to fuse Etoile Cyber and Blade Skater in my hand! Fusion Summon! Appear in attack position, Level 7! Cyber Blader!"

"Whilst my opponent controls two monsters on their field, Cyber Blader's attack points are doubled!"
Cyber Blader 2100 × 2 -> 4200ATK
As her Ace monster was summoned, Alexis expression began to relax. Her monster's attack points was higher than her opponents, so she could turn this duel around.
"Your monster looks beautiful, but unfortunately for you it has to go. I activate Bramble Rose Dragon effect. I tribute it to Synchro summon Black Rose Dragon from my extra deck."
Alexis eyes Widened from shock, knowing what Akiza's plan was "But that effec-"
Akiza cut her off "Can be activated in either players turn, not just my own turn. Appear Black Rose Dragon!'
Black Rose Dragon 2400ATK/1800DEF
"When Synchro summoned, All the cards on the field other than herself are destroyed! Rose storm!"
The newly summoned Ace monster of Alexis was shredded to pieces in front of her eyes as it was hit with the Black Roses effect.
"Also when a Rose Dragon or a Synchro plant type monster I control is destroyed, I can add Roxrose Dragon back to my hand."
"I... end my turn."
Although her field was swept clear, Alexis kept her head high and ended her turn. Even when her loss is guaranteed, she wouldn't forfeit and will lose whilst standing.
After all there was no shame in losing if your opponent was out of your league.
Turn 4
Draw Phase
Akiza drew the card before proceeding to the main phase.

"I summon Roxrose Dragon in the attack position."

She didn't even activate its effect and proceeded to the battle phase to end the duel.
"With nothing on your field, Black Rose Dragon and Roxrose Dragon attack you directly."
Alexis LP: 4000 - 1600 -> 2400
Alexis LP: 2400 - 2400 -> 0
[Akiza Wins!]
Alexis sighed as she got up, wiping off the dust from her clothes. she offered a hand to Akiza "Thanks for the duel."
Akiza accepted it and shake hands with her while nodding "Same here. Welcome to our dorm."
Alexis looked at her bewildered by what she said "But I lost..."
"Because my deck is build like a nuke. If it was anyone else instead of me, that Ace monster of yours could land a decent hit on them. That being said, it wasn't the main reason."
"Then what was it..?"
"Your resolve and pride as a duelist. You could have forfeited the moment you saw you could do nothing, but you still continued the duel and took the attack from my monsters. I respect that."
Alexis was briefly at loss for words before smiling "Thanks for the compliment."
"Also, I was getting tired of dueling these nobodies by myself, so I decided to accept you so you can duel them in my stead."
That was actually the main reason she accepted Alexis. She could fill her spot and then she was free to go and watch Ryoken's duels.
After all nothing was more precious for her than spending some time with her beloved hero.

Now that I read the chapter again, I realise the nuke ability of Black Rose Dragon is too OP. The kind that would make meta players go hard. But I still want it to be like that because we really never got a strong female character in Yugioh. They mostly get side cast.
Also they gave my precious snake-eye archetype more supports. Couldn't be more happy. Specially with the alternative art. Will definitely write a duel with mc using it.
Also just a random thought, what are your guys thought about giving other characters meta decks too? For now it's mostly the support cards of their own archetype. But was thinking of giving Zane a deck revolving around the Dragon type monsters.
