Chapter 398 - Chapter 102: Abigail's Defense Against the Dark Arts Class

The Kappa nodded, lifted its shell, retracted its head inside, then squatted in the corner, ready to ambush the students.

Originally green, the skin on its body now matched the surroundings very closely, looking almost invisible at first glance.

"Disillusionment Charm?" Professor Abigail was surprised again.

"Just the Colovaria Spell," Vid said. "The Disillusionment Charm would be too much of an advantage, and the Kappa's color change isn't that detailed."

This type of Magical Creature is like a chameleon; although it's good at hiding in its environment, you can still find them if you're careful.

Before long, the corridor was filled with rising and falling screams.

The mischievous Professor Abigail laughed heartily, feeling no guilt about setting a trap for her students.

Vid quietly watched ahead, occasionally turning to look at this professor.

It's hard to believe such a professor could harbor any ill intentions; she really could start a fight with students at the drop of a hat, having no complaints even if she's beaten in return, nor does she use her authority to punish students with detention.

Her teaching style is unique, only teaching spells once, followed by practical application—sometimes students are beaten by her, sometimes they fight amongst themselves, including ambushes and Muggle weapons.

The methods are varied and difficult to handle—Vid himself has been caught off guard several times in Defense Against the Dark Arts Class.

As long as you can defeat your opponent, any means will earn her approval—except Dark Magic.

Professor Abigail seldom teaches the knowledge from books, nor does she teach them how to handle exams or improve grades; she's just teaching students how to deal with real-world dangers.

So, the students who like this method hold Professor Abigail in high esteem, while those afraid of injury and fighting leave each class crying and are very scared to attend.

But no matter who they are, there's one thing in common—

Everyone believes Professor Abigail is genuinely teaching students survival skills, and what she teaches is useful.

Compared to her, Quirrell and Lockhart's classes are simply a waste of everyone's life.

After a bout of confusion in the corridor ahead, a student finally remembered the Kappa's weakness—

Michael suddenly jumped aside, avoiding the Kappa's claw, and shouted loudly, "Bow! Bow!"

Goyle, next to him, was stunned for a moment, then had his legs grabbed and yanked hard by the Kappa, slamming onto the ground with a painful groan.

Fortunately, Goldstein not far away heard Michael's words, resisted the urge to recoil and fear, dashed out to stand in front of the Kappa, and bowed forcefully.

Everyone held their breath and watched intently.

This creature is very strong, its arms can move flexibly, and it's very nimble. Anyone trying to cast a spell would be interrupted by its attacks, and it would even use others to block spells for itself.

In the narrow corridor, a group of students was driven to despair by a single creature, providing their unscrupulous professor with quite a spectacle.

At this moment, Goldstein stared at the ground, motionless, with fine beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.

The Kappa tilted its head and watched him for a moment, eyes filled with malicious intent, yet after a few seconds, seeing Goldstein persistently bowing, it eventually began to bow slowly.

"Splash!"

The water from the dish on the Kappa's head all poured out, and the little creature, just moments ago full of vigor, collapsed onto the floor with a thud, as if it had lost all its strength.

The students cheered loudly, as if they had defeated the Dark Lord.

"That's too dangerous, why is there such a magical creature running around the school?" Lisa complained.

"It's definitely Professor Hagrid, he brought dangerous creatures into the school again... and this time it's even worse, letting it run into the castle!"

Pansy angrily kicked the Kappa lying motionless on the ground and said, "I say, people like that shouldn't be professors, right, Draco?"

She turned to seek support.

Malfoy hesitated for a moment and didn't say anything.

—Hagrid had promised to take him to see the Fire Dragon, a promise still unfulfilled!

Primarily because Malfoy attacked Crabbe last semester, this term he has been in detention every day, so he hasn't found the chance yet.

He wanted Hagrid to offer him detention, then they could go to the Forbidden Forest to see the Fire Dragon, but Hagrid didn't agree—

The Forbidden Forest at night is more dangerous than during the day; Hagrid wouldn't dare let the Malfoy family's only child get injured again.

Malfoy's silence left Pansy feeling awkward, and she fiercely glared at Daphne beside her.

Daphne hurriedly said, "Yes, yes, it's really too dangerous!"

Pansy stomped twice more on the Kappa, still fuming.

At this point, Professor Abigail also walked over, lazily saying, "Lift your esteemed foot, Miss Parkinson! Stop damaging our teaching props!"

Everyone was astonished, saying, "Professor?!"

Professor Abigail waved her magic wand, and the dish on the Kappa's head was refilled with fresh water.

It regained its strength and climbed up from the ground, causing the surrounding students to scatter with a whoosh.

Pansy immediately hid behind Daphne, who panicked, pulling Noat nearby to stand in front of the two of them.

Noat: "..."

He reluctantly stood in front, fully guarded.

This Kappa didn't really harm anyone, but its way of attacking was too disgusting—pulling hair, poking noses, and tripping were minor; it also sneaked touches on people's backsides, making the girls quite afraid.

"Alright, you've seen the Kappa; does anyone know the characteristics of Hinkypunk, Red Cap, and Grindylow?" Professor Abigail asked.

Several arms shot up.

Professor Abigail glanced around, nodded, but didn't call on anyone to answer; instead, she said:

"It seems many of you haven't pre-studied our material, but that's fine—you have five more minutes to read."

The students looked at her, bewildered—what did she mean?

Professor Abigail didn't explain, but instead was the first to enter the classroom.

The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom had undergone a huge transformation; the desks and chairs were gone, replaced by numerous heavy drapes hanging from the ceiling, dividing the large classroom into countless sections.

From the entrance to the blackboard, only a narrow path was left, and in front of the blackboard, a magnified five-minute countdown was decreasing continuously.

"Vid, you were just with the professor, right? What does Professor Abigail mean?" Michael asked in a low voice.

Vid glanced at the other dumbfounded students, raised his voice, and said, "In five minutes, the magical creatures Professor just mentioned will start attacking, so be prepared."

"WHAT?!!!"

All the students were shocked, and then the entire classroom was filled with the sound of frantic page-turning.
