5:00am, Paldea West Coast, Casseroya Lake Lighthouse.
Miss Jenny's expression was serious. Holding a walkie-talkie, she led the officers in orderly evacuations of the wild Pokemon nearby.
The Paldea League support hadn't arrived yet, so they could only do their utmost to prepare for the landing of that enormous creature.
Half an hour ago, they dispatched a helicopter for a close investigation of the creature's situation.
But until now, that helicopter still hadn't returned.
"…Evacuate the nearby wild Pokemon as quickly as possible and prepare for any contingencies!" Miss Jenny issued her commands methodically.
"Yes!" The officers quickly sprang into action.
Suddenly, fog rolled in.
Miss Jenny looked up and surveyed her surroundings, turning her gaze to the distant sea, and sure enough, she found that mysterious creature was closer.
From behind, the monitor officer reported rapidly: "Report! The target is ten kilometers from the shoreline! At its current speed, it will reach the target point in about ten minutes!"
"Ten minutes? That's not enough time!" Miss Jenny frowned, "Damn, where on earth did that thing come from!"
Just then, the roar of a helicopter engine suddenly came from the sky.
People looked up to see a helicopter with the Paldea League emblem landing slowly on the beach.
A tall, dark-skinned woman with long black hair and dressed in black attire stepped out from inside.
Her expression was stern and devoid of much emotion, although very young, she exuded an aura of awe-inspiring power.
Upon seeing the newcomer, Miss Jenny immediately saluted respectfully, "Chief!"
This was Geeta, the Chief Champion of the Paldea League, who also served as the President of the Paldea Pokemon League, recognized as one of the most powerful at the Champion Level, standing at the pinnacle.
As it happened, Geeta had been conducting an inspection at the Glaseado Gym just yesterday.
After the inspection concluded, she stayed there to rest for the night, planning to return to the Pokemon League the following morning, not expecting an incident to arise midway.
"Explain the situation here," Geeta said.
Miss Jenny nodded and reported:
"An hour ago, we received an emergency call from fishermen at sea. They had spotted a fast-moving mysterious shadow underwater. They initially thought they would be attacked, but the creature seemed uninterested in them, simply heading toward the Paldea Region."
Hearing this, Geeta silently nodded. She took the binoculars from Miss Jenny and walked to the shoreline being lapped by waves, gazing toward the distant sea.
Through the binoculars, she saw a massive shadow, shrouded in mist, approaching this way.
Geeta frowned slightly, "What kind of Pokemon is that?"
Miss Jenny shook her head, "The helicopter sent to investigate has not yet returned!"
Just as she finished speaking, another helicopter landed on the shore.
A young officer in uniform rushed out, looking shocked and flustered, "Re-reporting!"
Miss Jenny: "What's the situation?!"
The young officer's voice trembled, "Tha-that's not a monster, it's a giant Dragonite! It's estimated to be over thirty meters tall! If you include the part underwater, it's probably forty meters!"
Forty meters...a Dragonite?
Hearing this number, everyone present turned pale.
At this size, it was truly a sea giant! The thought crossed Geeta's mind that such a massive Pokemon existed in this world.
But she quickly realized now was not the time to dwell on it.
A Dragonite over forty meters tall, if it reached the city, the consequences would be unimaginable!
After a moment of contemplation, she asked, "When you approached, did it notice you?"
The young officer shook his head, "No, it didn't attack and seemed uninterested in us!"
Geeta acknowledged with a nod and then fell into thought.
Miss Jenny asked, "Chief, what should we do?"
Geeta, recalling the fishermen's report, replied, "Without malice, it likely doesn't intend to attack humans..."
Miss Jenny was slightly taken aback, "Should we stop the evacuation?"
Geeta shook her head without hesitation, "No, even if it has no malice, with its size, once it comes ashore, it could inadvertently cause destruction to the city!"
After speaking, she once more fell into contemplation.
Miss Jenny did not interrupt her.
After some time, Geeta suddenly asked, "Have you informed the leader of the Alfornada Gym?"
If she remembered correctly, the Alfornada Gym Leader Tulip had a Gardevoir capable of telepathy.
If Tulip were here, they could attempt to communicate with the giant Dragonite.
Miss Jenny hesitated briefly, then nodded quickly, "We have! Gym Leader Tulip is on her way!"
Initially, she didn't know the Chief Champion was nearby, so she contacted the Gym Leaders in nearby towns to see who could come.
"Understood."
Geeta turned and boarded the helicopter, instructing, "I'll go ahead and try to communicate with it. When Tulip arrives, have her come to find me directly."
Miss Jenny: "Understood!"
Watching the resolute figure boarding the helicopter to approach the giant Dragonite, Miss Jenny felt a deep sense of admiration.
At that moment, she roughly understood why this chief Champion had at such a young age become the idol that all Pokemon Trainers in the Paldea Region looked up to.
————
A thick fog enveloped the area.
The helicopter continued forward through the mist.
Geeta calmly looked down at the sea, its surface disturbed by the influence of the giant Pokemon.
Suddenly, she heard the pilot in front shout, "Chief, we've arrived!"
The helicopter hovered in front of the dark silhouette, and Geeta stood up, her gaze fixed on the giant Dragonite.
Through the dense fog, she vaguely made out the true form of the shadow.
At just one glance, this chief Champion was stunned.
That ancient and formidable aura was something no ordinary Pokemon could exude!
Where did it come from? And where was it heading?
There were still too many things in this world undiscovered by humans, and Geeta didn't want to engage in direct conflict with it. So she stood at the open door of the helicopter, attempting to communicate.
"Stop now! Many humans and Pokemon live on this land, and if you continue, you'll destroy them!"
But her words received no response.
The giant Dragonite continued to move forward on its own.
Seeing this, Geeta frowned slightly.
She took out a Poke Ball with her right hand, and with a flash of white light, a large Avalugg appeared on the sea below.
"Avalugg, freeze the surrounding seawater!"
At the command, Avalugg began to move.
A terrifying surge of Ice Type Energy emerged from its body, frost spread rapidly, and the surrounding seawater quickly froze.
In the blink of an eye, the nearby sea surface was completely frozen, blocking the path of the giant Dragonite.
It was then that the giant Dragonite seemed to finally take notice.
It lowered its head slightly, gazing at the Pokemon trying to impede its progress.
It opened its mouth wide, a devastating energy gathering quickly within, then transforming into a massive beam that shot forth.
The frozen ice surface shattered instantly, the seawater surged, creating towering waves as the ice melted under the terrifying energy, the resulting white mist thickening the air with fog.
The Avalugg, of Champion Level strength, seemed as fragile as a lone boat adrift in the ocean against Dragonite's attack.
Geeta watched the scene with shock.
The strength of this giant Dragonite! It might have already reached Champion Level! Perhaps even surpassed Champion Level!
If such destructive power were unleashed in a city…
Images of buildings collapsing, a bustling city turned to ruins, flames rising high, crowds engulfed by infernos flooded Geeta's mind.
"I must not let it reach the shore!" Geeta thought.
Seeing her communication attempts fail, she resolved to use all her strength to stop this creature.
Just then, the helicopter carrying Psychic Gym Leader Tulip arrived.
She had already heard everything from Jenny and was a bit surprised to see Geeta like this.
She smiled warmly and said, "It's the first time I've seen you so serious! But leave it to me now!"
Geeta put away the Poke Ball she had just taken out and recalled Avalugg below.
Tulip took out a Poke Ball, and with a flash of white light, a Gardevoir appeared in mid-air.
"Gardevoir, it's up to you now!"
"Gardevoir."
Gardevoir responded softly, its eyes glowing with a blue light.
In the next moment, it vanished, reappearing further away.
The giant Dragonite halted its advance, looking up at this unfamiliar Pokemon.
Though Geeta and Tulip seemed calm on the surface, they were actually very tense inside, watching Gardevoir start to communicate with the giant Dragonite without blinking.
On the way over, Tulip had seen the scene of that giant beast unleashing a destructive beam.
Even she, with all her experience, couldn't help but be shocked.
That scene was comparable to a legend, leaving her at a loss for words.
At this moment, not only were they nervous, but even Miss Jenny and the officers on the shore were extremely anxious.
Time ticked by second by second; they didn't know how long it had been, maybe just a few dozen seconds, or maybe several minutes had passed.
Gardevoir finally returned to Tulip's side.
Tulip and Geeta looked over tensely, "How did it go?"
Gardevoir used its Telepathy ability, and its voice appeared in their minds:
"It said that it came here to find a companion."
