Chapter 950 - Chapter 923: Botanical Potential

High Ritual Technique, a magic that allows you to perform a ritual summon of any ritual monster in your hand by sending ordinary monsters from your card deck to the graveyard as ritual materials.

Since it's a generic-use ritual magic, you can't deduce the exact card deck your opponent uses just from this ritual search; you can only roughly guess it might be a ritual deck.

"Battle."

Eddie remains cold, slowly raising his hand, feeling like a relentless card-playing machine.

"Use 'Ten Thousand Hands God' to attack the covered monster."

The Ten Thousand Hands God flies out like a stone statue, unleashing a barrage of punches. The dense shadows of fists resemble a massive firepower net, bombarding the covered monster.

The covered card flips over, revealing a green-haired turtle on the ground, its shell resembling a silver UFO.

Yugen: "Your attack target is 'Flying Disc Turtle'.

[Flying Disc Turtle, Defense Power 1200]

The fist shadows continue their bombardment, smashing the flying disc on the turtle's back into pieces. The disc explodes, transforming into a fireball, with metal fragments scattering from the flames.

"When Flying Disc Turtle is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard, its legacy effect is triggered," Yugen says, "allowing you to special summon a Fire Attribute monster from your card deck with 1500 or less attack power in face-up attack position."

Yugen's card deck performs an automatic search, the card popping out, which he draws and places onto the Duel Disc.

"Special summon 'Lonely Spark'."

A flame ignites on Yugen's field, forming into a fireball. From the fireball emerges a plant, transforming into a fiery flower.

[Lonely Spark, Attack Power 500]

Yan: "Oh, today is the master of the Plant Race!"

Eddie coldly glances at the burning flower, speaking blandly.

"Plants are a weak race," he says, "surviving as weaklings in the gaps between countless gods and demons in the multiverse of duels."

Yugen raises an eyebrow.

"That's... indeed a fresh perspective."

But he follows with a smile: "But talking about weaklings, it'd be better if you win the duel first."

Eddie doesn't respond, only continuing to draw a card from his hand.

"Cover one card, end of turn."

"Then it's my turn, draw."

Yugen draws a card.

"Lonely Spark's effect, once per turn, sacrifices a face-up Plant Race monster on your field to special summon any Plant Race monster from your card deck."

Another high-tier card visible from its description.

Using any Plant Race monster on the field without restrictions as a sacrifice, you can summon any Plant Race monster from the card deck without restrictions. Even Lonely Spark itself is a Plant Race, so simply normal summoning Lonely Spark is equivalent to summoning any level Plant Race monster from the card deck, undeniably powerful.

According to modern Yu-Gi-Oh! standards, what's more terrifying is this effect is only marked "once per turn," not "this card name's effect once per turn."

This means as long as Lonely Spark leaves the field and is re-summoned, or even re-flipped after being covered, the usage count of this effect can be refreshed, without strict limitations on the number of uses per turn.

Such a top-tier card being only semi-limited and not banned perhaps also shows that the Plant Race isn't very strong.

"Lonely Spark itself is a Plant Race, so I sacrifice Lonely Spark itself."

Yugen takes the card automatically ejected from his card deck.

"Special summon 'Giant Plant'."

This card, true to its name, is indeed a gigantic plant. Its green roots are deeply embedded in the ground, growing into a large monster composed of plant tissue, with a huge blood-red mouth showing dense white teeth through the gap.

[Giant Plant, Attack Power 2400]

"Giant Plant is a Dual Monster, considered an ordinary monster on the field and in the graveyard," Yugen explains, "but when a Dual Monster exists on the field, you can perform a normal summon again to gain additional monster effects.

I perform a Double Summon on Giant Plant to grant it new monster effects."

The Giant Plant's monster card appears again behind its image, displaying summoning effects and a burst of golden light.

"After Double Summoning, Giant Plant gains an effect," Yugen says, "once per turn during your main phase, you can special summon any Insect Race or Plant Race monster from your hand or graveyard."

Thus, a burst of golden light emits from Yugen's graveyard, the monster card returning to his hand.

"I special summon 'Lonely Spark' that was previously sacrificed to the graveyard back onto the field.

Come forth, Lonely Spark."

A fireball reignites on the field, the flower blossoming within the flames.

[Lonely Spark, Attack Power 500]

"Lonely Spark's effect," Yugen explains, "once per turn, sacrifices a Plant Race monster on the field to special summon a Plant Race monster from the card deck."

Yan realizes: "Because Lonely Spark went to the graveyard and was re-summoned back to the field, the effect that was supposed to be activated only once per turn is now reset.

No wonder Lord King! With his first deck he's so smooth in its utilization!"

Yugen glances sidelong at him, chuckling: "You know? You now sound like a sycophantic underling beside the Overlord."

Yan: "..."

After joking, Yugen continues without minding him.

"I sacrifice 'Lonely Spark' that was re-summoned to the field again," Yugen says, "special summoning any Plant Race monster from the deck."

He pauses, drawing a card ejected from the deck, and laughs.

"This is a rare plant I've painstakingly acquired, perfect for testing today—

—Camellia Titania!!!"

Petals dance in the air, a massive green leaf unfurls in the center of the field. Lonely Spark once more burns itself into ashes, paving a broad path to the battlefield for its ally.

In the leaf's bloom, a vibrant red flower blooms, rising in human form like a queen, her snow-white face solemn and noble, wrapped in green leaves and vines, as if the master of the flower.

[Camellia Titania, Attack Power 2800]

"Instantly summoned two Upper-Level Monsters," Eddie says flatly, "even mere plants can achieve this."

"As I said, never underestimate the potential of any race,"

Yugen replies.

"'Camellia Titania' attacks 'Ten Thousand Hands God.'

The queen of plants slowly opens her eyes and extends her slender arms. Her palm gently rotates, causing the petals in the sky to dance along with her gestures to form a blood-colored vortex, shooting violently towards Eddie's field.

[Ten Thousand Hands God, Attack Power 1400]

Camellia crushes Ten Thousand Hands God, dealing 1400 damage, with the 2400 attack Giant Plant still eyeing fiercely.

If these two consecutive strikes pass successfully, his Life Points will be reduced to a flickering candle in the wind!
