Ariana had gone through several failed attempts to make a decent lunch for herself when she felt her mind was trying to remind her of something.
She placed the undercooked tray of beef in her hands on the kitchen's countertop and quickly took up her phone.
She opened Azaiah's chat and read his previous message. She was supposed to meet him by 5pm also.
A part of her wanted to hear what Rodrigo had to say but she didn't know if it was a good idea to meet up with him. Especially now the meetup time was clashing with Azaiah's.
She decided to see Azaiah instead and wanted to confirm their meeting by sending him a text.
"Hey. We're still meeting up today right?" Her texted conveyed.
In few seconds her phone chimed as his response to her text came. "Of course we are. You don't want to miss what I have in mind for you miss Sterling".
Ariana's brows furrowed as she wondered what he meant by his text.
"What you have in mind for me?" She questioned with curiosity.
"Oh you'll get to know when we see. See you soon miss Sterling" his text said.
Reading his text, Ariana pictured Azaiah with his usual smug smirk as she felt that was the expression he would have had on if they were conversing face to face.
She also took note of the fact he had been calling her miss Sterling. It sounded a bit too formal in her ears. Though they weren't actually close, it still sounded foreign coming from him who wasn't very kind with his words when it came to addressing her in highschool.
At the same time a part of her questioned if he was right by calling her that as she had began to doubt the family she came from.
She looked up at the time in her phone and noticed it was two hours past noon.
"Time passed by really fast today" she said to herself as she placed her phone down and decided to taste the tenderloin which she had brought out of the oven earlier.
By merely looking at it, she thought it was thoroughly cooked but after cutting out a small piece and eating it, she quickly spat it out as not only was it undercooked but it was a tad bland.
She quickly added more species to the piece of meat and placed it back in the oven.
In the unrefined part of the city, Mrs. Sterling's mouth was agape as she tried to take in the news she had just heard.
Earlier, after leaving her home, she had her chauffeur drive her towards the location that she had discussed certain matters with Fidel Smith.
But getting there, she asked around for him but no one had seen him. The neighborhood was sketchy and unsafe but she came anyway because she wanted to have a word with the man.
Seeing Yvonne at her home brought doubts to her mind if truly Ariana was living with the blonde girl. She wanted to make sure her calculations were right and decided to meet up with Fidel.
She had called him on the phone earlier but it didn't go through. So she decided to come see him herself.
She wanted the man to keep an eye on Ariana but now, she doubted her plans would come to fruition as a random man who lived in the neighborhood told her Fidel was dead.
She was wide-eyed upon hearing the news. If Fidel had truly died, the probability of her secrets staying secrets was very low.
Mrs. Sterling before she became the wife of Mr.Sterling was simply known as Diana Hayes.
She had met Fidel many years back and always had the man do her dirty job anytime she wanted. After hearing that he was dead, she found it unbelievable and was also petrified as she feared the hidden things she had with the man might come to the open now he was dead.
Mrs. Sterling began to hyperventilate and she quickly walked towards her car and immediately ordered the chauffeur "Drive".
Seeing the woman's state, the chauffeur quickly turned on the car and drove off.
"He's not really dead is he? This is one of his tricks to escape the law right?" Mrs. Sterling began questioning herself.
At a certain time, Fidel had indeed tried to fake his death to escape being arrested in a foreign country and Mrs. Sterling knew of it.
She felt sweat slide down her back though it was almost winter time and the weather was indeed cold.
"There's no way anyone would find out about the things I did right?" At this point the woman almost looked insane as she continued talking to herself.
The chauffeur didn't dare ask the woman anything, he only took occasional glances at her through the rear mirror to make sure everything was still okay. Though a part of him knew everything wasn't.
After some minutes, the woman calmed down and informed the chauffeurr "Don't tell my husband I was in this neighborhood even if he asks of my whereabouts". The chauffeur nodded in agreement.
He knew better than to do that. Mrs. Sterling wasn't the nicest and he perfectly knew what she could do to him if he utters a word.
