Chapter 44: Hunter Tavern

"Beep, beep, beep—"

"The number you have dialed has been disconnected."

In the central control room of Trick Tower prison, Lippo was fuming as he listened to the busy tone from the other end of the phone.

Because of what Mord had described as "a little" chaos at the scene, Lippo had been severely reprimanded by his superiors.

The unemployed rogue monks were one thing, but among the female followers who had been deceived, many came from prominent families with considerable influence and power in Aftab City.

But Mord didn't care. With his reckless actions, most of the female followers ended up dead or injured.

Of course, Lippo knew deep down that the real reason his superiors were angry was because the evil monk Mierji had died—the original plan had been to capture him alive.

Mord paid no attention to any of this. He directly hung up on Lippo and looked at the 350 million jenny that had been deposited into his Hunter License card, a smile spreading across his face.

In terms of purchasing power, this amount of money would be equivalent to 2.8 million USD in his previous life—undoubtedly a huge fortune.

An ordinary person couldn't earn this much in five lifetimes.

No wonder 60 of the world's top 100 wealthiest individuals were official hunters with Hunter Licenses.

This rate of earning money was even faster than robbery.

For top hunters like Ging, saying he was rich enough to rival a nation wasn't an exaggeration—it was simply stating a fact.

Not only did he have his own private territory, Greed Island, the deposits in his card were also terrifyingly large.

It's worth noting that later, in the Dark Continent arc, when Ging joined Netero's expedition team, he casually tossed out 145 billion jenny as a mere meeting gift without even blinking.

"Our city has cracked a major case. The evil religious cult, Shintoism, has been rounded up. The leader detonated a bomb before his death, but despite this, through the relentless efforts of all police officers, 56 hostages were successfully rescued..."

Three days had passed since that night.

Relevant news reports were playing on television, though the content inevitably differed from reality to prevent widespread panic.

After all, Nen users existed beneath the surface of this peaceful world.

Mord casually turned off the TV.

With this startup capital, he could now access the Hunter intelligence network to gather information from other Hunters.

Hunting these bounty targets wouldn't be like chasing after flies without heads anymore.

Mord reopened his computer and entered the URL for the Hunter-exclusive website, Hunter's Tavern.

It was said that Hunters from around the world gathered and shared intelligence here.

"Please scan your Hunter License and enter your license number."

Following the prompts, Mord finally accessed the website. A tavern door appeared on his computer screen, slowly swinging open with a click of his mouse.

The scene then shifted to the tavern's interior, complete with drinking patrons, waitstaff, and a bartender.

Mord moved his cursor over the bartender.

"What information are you seeking?"

As the prompt sounded, countless entries appeared before Mord's eyes.

Mord directly typed "Bounty Target Pierre Izzie" into the search bar—one of the several targets he had previously selected for his hunting list.

The latest information on bounty target Pierre Izzie required 25 million jenny.

The intelligence business was practically no different from robbery.

Considering this, Pierre Izzie's bounty was only 200 million jenny to begin with.

But there was no alternative.

Mord directly transferred the 25 million jenny through his Hunter License.

...

The next second.

A Nen aura directly emanated from the computer screen, enveloping Mord.

Watching his surroundings transform, Mord found himself genuinely transported into the tavern from the computer screen. Everyone in the tavern—customers and staff alike—were living, breathing beings.

"It seems this website can only be accessed by Nen users."

Standing before Mord was precisely that bartender from the tavern.

"Okay, listen carefully then."

"Bounty target Pierre Izzie, also known as the Murderous Miracle Doctor, was last seen near Heavens Arena in the Republic of Padokea. The timeframe was this year..." As the bartender spoke, he slid a mixed drink toward Mord.

Mord didn't reach for it, recognizing that the scene before him was merely a construct formed by Nen ability, not an actual physical transportation to the tavern.

After delivering the information, the Nen aura dissipated.

Mord returned to his room once more.

Mord proceeded to query information about two other wanted criminals.

After comparing them, he determined that the Murderous Miracle Doctor Pierre Izzie was currently the optimal choice.

He left his residence intending to purchase some essentials in the city center, unexpectedly spotting Taya getting out of a car. She appeared somewhat pale, with bandages wrapped around her arm—likely just discharged from the hospital after recovering from injuries.

This woman really had nine lives.

Mord glanced her way before turning to leave.
