"Boom—!"
On the chaotic stretch of Broadway Avenue, something plummeted from the sky, slamming into the street and blasting open a huge crater. The deafening impact caught the attention of Emil Blonsky, the Abomination, who was rampaging nearby.
Moments later, a massive green hand reached out from the hole and struck the ground.
Following that hand emerged a giant, ferocious-faced, towering, muscle-bound, his skin glowing with deep green. Though monstrous, he still looked far more human than the grotesque, bone-studded Abomination tearing through the streets.
"Hulk!"
The Abomination roared the name like a challenge the instant he saw Bruce Banner's transformed figure.
"Hulk!"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Abomination's heavy feet thundered against the pavement, each step cracking and cratering the road beneath him.
The massive green figure pulled himself from the crater, shaking his dazed head. But when he heard the deep roar echoing down the street, his eyes sharpened. In the distance, a yellow-skinned monster, even taller than himself, was charging toward him.
"Roar—!"
With a deafening roar of his own, Hulk braced himself and charged.
The two titans thundered forward and collided in the center of the street, their massive hands locking together. The shockwave of their impact rippled visibly through the air.
"Zzzzt—!"
The pavement beneath them cracked and split under the pressure, the fissures spreading like spiderwebs. Then—"Boom!"—a wide section of the street collapsed altogether.
The two giants, one green and one yellow, grappled furiously. Rocks flew, lampposts snapped, buildings crumbled. Wherever they fought, destruction followed—Broadway was reduced to rubble in mere moments.
But the evenly matched struggle didn't last long.
Unlike Bruce Banner, Emil Blonsky retained his human intellect even after transforming into the Abomination. He fought with cunning as well as strength.
"Roar—!"
Growing impatient at being unable to overpower his foe, Hulk gathered his strength and drove his fist forward with a bellow. But Abomination only sneered, sidestepped, grabbed Hulk's arm, and spun with brutal force.
"Kra-cha-cha—!"
Hulk was hurled through the air, slamming into the pavement dozens of meters away. He carved a deep trench into the street before coming to a stop.
"Roar—!"
"Boom—!"
Hulk barely had time to rise before Abomination leapt, landing atop him with bone-shattering force. Dust and debris burst into the air as the ground quaked beneath them. The sound of heavy, merciless blows echoed from within the cloud.
Inside a nearby command helicopter, Betty Ross stared anxiously at the surveillance feed.
"What's happening?" she asked, voice trembling.
"It'll be fine… it'll be fine," General Ross said softly, trying to comfort her while holding her close.
But his face was pale. Deep down, Ross was filled with regret—for his obsession with recreating the super-soldier serum, for the years of estrangement from his daughter, and for the chaos he had unleashed.
"Dad… I don't want anything to happen to Banner," Betty whispered, tears filling her eyes.
Ross couldn't answer. He doubted that Bruce could win against the Abomination—but he couldn't tell her that. Instead, he simply patted her back and murmured, "No, Betty… it'll be alright."
"Hiss—"
As Abomination roared and pummeled Hulk into the ground, a faint whine sliced through the night air.
Harry Osborn had arrived, gliding in on his flying skateboard.
"Huh?"
Abomination's ear twitched; he turned toward the sound.
A streak of light—a miniature missile—raced toward him.
"Ha!" Abomination grinned, catching sight of the tiny projectile. He stood up from Hulk's body, smiling mockingly as he reached out to snatch it from the air.
"Zzzzt—!"
But by then, Harry had already fired a second missile.
"Ah!" Abomination grabbed the first in his massive hand, then hurled it with monstrous strength toward the second.
"Boom—!"
The missiles collided midair, erupting into a massive fireball. The shockwave rippled outward, cracking the ground beneath Abomination's feet. Harry was thrown back by the blast, but managed to stabilize himself in the air with a burst of electrostatic control and his invisible field.
"Roar—!"
The instant he heard that furious bellow, Harry's spider-sense flared in warning.
"Little insect—die!"
From within the lingering flames, Abomination burst out roaring, his bone-studded chest gleaming in the firelight as he leapt high with both fists raised.
Harry didn't panic. With a flick of his wrist, two spherical dart-bombs shot from the underside of his skateboard into his waiting hands. Just as Abomination's massive fists came crashing down, Harry braced, tensed his legs, and kicked off hard—sending his board shooting backward out of range.
The shockwave from the monster's blow hurled him upward, but he narrowly escaped the crushing strike.
"Boom—!"
The street shattered again, another crater added to the ruin.
Still midair, Harry twisted gracefully, landing lightly on the ground. With a sharp motion of his wrists, two flashes of cold light spun from his hands—dart-bombs whirling toward the dust cloud where Abomination stood.
"Boom—!"
"Boom—!"
"Roar—!!"
Twin explosions erupted from the smoke, followed by a furious, agonized roar. Harry smiled.
"Roar—!"
"Boom—!"
Before the roar could finish, a heavy impact echoed—and something enormous was flung sideways, smashing through the wall of a nearby building.
The smoke thinned, and a massive green figure emerged—Hulk, standing tall. He threw back his head and roared, venting all the rage that had built within him.
Thanks to Harry's interference, the Abomination's attention had been broken. Hulk's incredible body had finally purged the antidote from his system.
Now, the true battle was about to begin.
