Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3: Posts

PALZIN (CITY)

8:30 AM

CANTEN STREET

Viena walked through the halls of the orphanage quietly, carefully, usually she would be hanging out with Vecer (if they were assigned in the same group). Viena wasn't sure if she was upset or fine, she knew Wan would be mean to her, but... she did sort of like him. Anka on the other hand was really nice, but the twist is she was popular and she barely hanged out with people like Viena. She would probably talk to her if they were in the same group, but not if they were sitting in the same type of way they were at the announcement. Navo on the other hand was that type of guy that sounded everyone like the one everyone liked, the class clown. Actually, though he's a huge nerd, he loves reading books and learning whatever things they teach us at the orphanage. Sure, he was fine, Viena started trying to convince her brain, Navo was that type of guy that you felt bad for, that you would rarely talk to. Plus, other people seem to think the same exact thing, Viena suddenly stopped her thoughts and at the same time she stopped in the middle of the hallway. She didn't want to be bullied she barley had one friend. Viena bent her head down and walked through the hallways navigating her way through the floor. She zoned out for a second before stopping in front of a door, she slowly lifted her head up. She took a second to check the room was right, "room 215, laundry room", she uttered. Viena quickly made her way into the room ignoring Wan's eyes following Her's. She made her way to her pile, which she noticed happened to be the second largest pile. The largest pile was secured by Navo. Viena wasn't that much surprised, I mean they were the most unpopular people in the room. Viena quickly started throwing in the clothes knowing some would be gross and would have a foul Oder. Viena quickly counted them up from the washing machine, "27", she observed. Viena took a slight second to take a look at Wan and see if he was still staring at her. She slowly turned her head towards him, but she was disappointed when she saw that Anka and Wan were laughing together like good friends. Viena quickly turned around trying to extract attention form herself. She quickly ignored it knowing that she didn't have much time to finish doing the laundry. "27 times 20", Viena calculated, "equals 54 so that means I have to put this machine up for 54 minutes", Viena finished clearly impressed with herself. She put in the numbers, 'beep' 'beep' 'beep' and finally with a final 'beep' the washing machine started cleansing the clothes. Viena tapped on her watch, "9:07", she read, Viena eyes met the door to the laundry room. What if she took a quick break than came back to the washing machine after a like 15-minute break, Viena planned in her head. Viena took a deep breath trying to just walk out the laundry room, sure some people would just walk out confident like they owned the placed. Viena wasn't really that much worried about them snickering, staring or making fun of her. What she was really worried about was the fact that they didn't like her. Not that was what she means, she means that since they don't like her, they might snitch on her to the counselor. Usually Viena wouldn't give a fudge, but the counselor put up stricter rules due to lack of progression. Viena groaned thinking about it, this place might as well be a school expect you have no parents, the lunch sucks, and they make you do work. Not work like papers and exams, although they partially did have some learning hours, but no it was real work like laundry, mail, and other variations. She didn't want to get in trouble, but she also didn't want to stay here in the awkward situation. Viena smoothly checked the room, observing every nook and cranny. A table, a lamp, (slightly bigger than usual due to lack of light in the room. There was a cramped-up door in the corner which Viena had never noticed before. Viena had been on laundry duty for a while; sure she did other things but for some reason she usually gets laundry duty. Viena laughed to herself thinking if people thought of her as the laundry girl. She suddenly stopped laughing to herself, her faced shifted to a more serious look. Viena quickly checked on everyone seeing if they were looking at her or not. 'Ding!' the washing machine went off, everyone's attention than shifted to Viena for a split second before they turned back around. Wan and Anka were still laughing together, and Nova was just silent, and independent. Viena groaned, she gave herself a long hard second before trotting back to the washing-machine. She read the numbers; they showed that it was 10:01 am. She quickly opened the shuttle like door to the washing machine; she gave a hard sigh before finally accepting that she had to continue. Viena grabbed the clothes rapidly while yeeting them onto the clean-like carpet beneath her. When all the clothes were out she had to start feeling them to see if they needed to be dried or not, she had to this because of the orphanages budget. If she put too much clothes that didn't need to be dried and they found out than she would be in even bigger trouble with the counselor. "Guess Ille just have to pray no one finds out", Viena snickered. Nova was looking straight at Viena, his eyes twinkling and his cheek was blushing. He smiled at her knowing she wasn't looking and then quickly looked back at his laundry. He was almost done with the drying process he just needed 17 more minutes then he would be able to leave. Unless the social worker decided to take him in. Anka and Wan on the other hand were just chatting and laughing, they hadn't done a single thing. The clothes they were supposed to clean still lay on the carpet, even though they only had 6 clothes each, and Viena 27, Nova 34. Viena checked her watch before dumping all the clothes in the drier, "a quick 28 minutes should do the job", she uttered. She closed the door of the drier, then entered in 28, 'beep' 'beep' 'beep' and finally with the last 'beep', she rushed in front of the door in the corner. She checked on both Nova and the "duo", she had started to call them. Then quickly and stealthily she slipped through the door.
