"Gaara, huh?"
Naruto gave a nonchalant grin. "Just a lunatic, that's all."
"G-Gaara..." KanHaku's voice trembled with unease.
Whoosh!
In the blink of an eye, Gaara landed on the ground from his upside-down stance on a tree branch, arms crossed, his cold eyes fixed on Naruto.
"You over there. What's your name?"
"And why should I tell you?"
Naruto stared back at Gaara with a look of disdain.
"Heh, what an interesting guy."
Gaara let out a soft chuckle, then turned to leave. His eerie voice drifted back with his footsteps,
"Pray you don't face me in the Chūnin Exams… because I will kill you."
"Damn… Gaara's getting excited again."
KanHaku and Temari both shuddered and quickly followed after him.
"Pfft, arrogant brat," Naruto muttered, clearly unimpressed.
"Wow! Big bro Naruto, you were so cool just now!" Konohamaru ran up to Naruto with stars in his eyes.
"Hehe, of course! What kind of big bro would I be otherwise?" Naruto grinned, patting Konohamaru's head, clearly enjoying the flattery.
"Naruto, stop spacing out! We need to go or we'll be late!" Sakura called out, exasperated.
"Alright, Konohamaru! Big bro has to go now!"
"Okay! Good luck!" Konohamaru raised his arm and grinned wide, flashing a toothy smile with a few gaps still showing.
"Yeah!" Naruto threw up a victory sign and jogged toward Sakura.
…
"You three made it, huh?"
Kakashi, standing by the entrance, gave them a pleased look and nodded to himself.
"Kakashi-sensei, we can go in now, right?" Sakura asked.
"Mm, go ahead."
Kakashi stepped aside, letting them through. Watching the trio walk in, he chuckled softly
"Sakura, Naruto, Sasuke… You three are going to make this Sensei proud. Especially you, Naruto."
"Please let us through, oof!"
A group blocked the hallway on the second floor.
"Tch. Kids like you better scram. This place isn't for the likes of you," sneered two thuggish ninjas disguised as jonin, standing in front of the stairs with disdain.
"Lame," Naruto muttered under his breath.
"Ninjutsu: Genjutsu Reversal!"
Forming a hand seal, Naruto muttered the technique and then waved to Sakura and Sasuke.
"Come on, let's go in from the side."
Ignoring the gasps behind him, Naruto led them through a side door.
"What the, ? It turned back into the fourth floor?!"
"…"
Panicked voices echoed behind them. The two examiners exchanged amused looks.
"Seems like there are a few promising genin this year."
"Genjutsu, Release!"
With a low chant, the two proctors dispelled the illusion, vanishing in puffs of white smoke.
"Whoa! It's the third floor again…"
"You idiot, stop shouting! It was clearly just genjutsu. So embarrassing... Move already, stop dawdling…"
…
"Hey, Sakura, why do you think those losers haven't shown up yet?"
Bored, Naruto leaned lazily beside her, his hand shamelessly inching toward her waist.
"How should I know?" Sakura snapped, but then stiffened as his hand touched her.
"By the way, Sakura, you really take care of your skin, huh? I can feel how smooth it is even through your clothes."
Naruto's hand slowly moved from her waist to her flat, flawless stomach.
"Get your hand off me!"
Sakura squirmed, but didn't actually remove his hand as it lingered on her body.
Knowing when to stop, Naruto straightened up and put on a serious face after enjoying his little victory.
"Dumb Naruto, acting all innocent now?" Sakura gave him a glare, annoyed on the outside, but oddly, not rejecting him on the inside.
Rustle rustle…
A few minutes later, a flurry of footsteps echoed from the hallway.
One after another, genin began pouring into the classroom.
The first round of the Chūnin Exams was about to begin.
"Sakura, look at this crowd. Weaklings, all of them."
Naruto sneered as he eyed the noisy genin chattering all around them.
"You're really something else…" Sakura rolled her eyes. "That's just because you're too strong."
"Sakura, you wouldn't want to be a weakling like them, right?" Naruto leaned close and whispered temptingly, "How about I personally train you? I promise it won't be tiring. In fact, it might even feel good. And I'll turn you into an amazing kunoichi."
"I refuse."
Sakura shot him a sharp side glance, her answer crisp and cold.
"Ugh…"
Naruto froze. "Don't you want to get stronger?"
"Of course I do." Sakura pouted. Her tone was still firm. "But training with you? You're clearly up to no good."
"Damn, caught that easily?" Naruto groaned inwardly. "And that pout… refusing me but still acting cute. Seriously…"
Looking at her, Naruto had the sudden urge to pull her into his arms and shower her with affection.
