"I will keep in touch, just be ready all the time, Lara. I still cannot believe our Alpha, the man we trusted to love and cherish you, would plan something like this." Cammie's voice trembled, and she held my hand before letting out a long, shaky breath.
I stared at her tired eyes and forced a small smile. "From the start, I knew I could never have him, Cam. I knew it, yet I still found myself falling for him a little more each day. It feels foolish now, but I could not stop myself."
Cammie studied my face, sadness softening her expression. "Who would not fall for Marco Blackwell, Lara? He is every woman's fantasy in our world. Strong. Loyal. Handsome. Powerful.
