Chapter 41 - One Man vs. a Gang!

Xu Dan was someone who had always hated working overtime—and hated traffic jams even more.

In Clinton District, rush hour traffic was a nightmare every evening.

Rather than honking endlessly on the road, he preferred to stay at the office, doing something more pleasant, and wait until the streets cleared.

When he looked down through the floor-to-ceiling window, Xu Dan couldn't help but grin.

A row of black SUVs had been parked there since morning. Now it was eight at night—and those cars were still there!

And the make and model looked awfully familiar.Exactly like the ones he'd seen back in that small town when he found Skye.

"Kingpin's starting to block me in, huh?" he said with a cold smile.

"Huh? What should we do?" Liva asked anxiously beside him.

Nighttime in New York was dangerous enough—and now they'd spotted Kingpin's men?

But Xu Dan didn't take them seriously at all. After all, gangsters were just small-time troublemakers.

To ordinary people, gangs might seem terrifying, but to those with powers, they were nothing to fear.

Sometimes, a single superpowered person could toy with an entire syndicate.

And Xu Dan—well, he could count as one of those, couldn't he?After all… he could blast energy waves.

"Don't be afraid."A confident smile curved across Xu Dan's lips as he took off his suit jacket and tossed it casually onto the sofa.

"Dan, what are you doing?"

"Nothing much—just going down to say hello."

"No, you can't!" Liva stepped in front of him, eyes full of worry. "They're criminals! We should call the police!"

Xu Dan just shook his head. "Someone already has. But if the police still haven't shown up, what does that tell you?"

Liva froze for a moment, then understood.

Still, concern clouded her face.

Seeing her like that, Xu Dan sighed softly and said, "Don't worry. I'll be right back."

Sure enough, the moment he stepped outside, a group of gangsters surrounded him—faces twisted with menace, like wolves circling a lone sheep.

"You're Xu Dan? You're coming with us," one of them barked.

"The way you people 'invite' someone feels a lot different than others I've met," Xu Dan replied with a dry chuckle. He remembered how S.H.I.E.L.D. had once "invited" him—at least they had been polite about it.

These guys? Not so much.

"What's the difference? I'm telling you to come now, or I'll drag you myself!" sneered a thug with a mohawk.

There were about thirty of them in total, and most had no idea who Xu Dan really was.

They assumed he was just the owner of some game company.

Kidnapping businessmen wasn't new to them. Every time, those "big bosses" would pretend to stay calm—until a beating made them obedient as puppies.

That was just how rich people were—proud until they weren't.

Xu Dan looked at the mohawked thug with faint disappointment. The man's physique was solid—he'd probably make a decent boxer.

Too bad he'd chosen the wrong fight.

"Tsk, tsk…" Xu Dan sighed regretfully.

A surge of energy rose from his core, flowing through his legs. In an instant, he exploded into motion.

In the glow of the neon night, his figure moved like a ghost. No—not quite a ghost, for ghosts clawed throats.Xu Dan preferred fists.

Thud!

A dull, heavy impact rang out. The force of his punch shattered the mohawked man's shirt—cloth tore apart, exposing his back as it turned a sickly purple.

The man's heart had ruptured. Blood vessels burst under the shockwave.

His eyes bulged wide as he stared at Xu Dan—his last sight before collapsing.

He regretted it. If only he'd kept his mouth shut, he might've lived a little longer.

"Get him!" someone shouted.

Seeing Xu Dan kill one of their own so easily, the gangsters roared like madmen and rushed forward.

But they'd been given strict orders—Kingpin wanted him alive.

Their best weapons were baseball bats.

Utterly useless against Xu Dan.

With each swing and clash, his fists shattered wood like twigs.

Amid the chaos, Xu Dan moved like a dancer among wolves—dodging, striking, weaving through blows as though the battle were a performance.

Every opening he found, he ended another opponent with brutal efficiency.

For him, this wasn't a fight—it was live combat training.Since none of them carried lethal weapons, he didn't even need to use his abilities. Perfect practice dummies.

When several bats came crashing toward him, Xu Dan ducked low, almost scraping the ground, and in one smooth motion, slipped outside their encirclement.

Then he struck the nearest man—one blow, and the thug's spine snapped.

They couldn't touch him. He wasn't fighting; he was dancing. And as the minutes passed, fewer and fewer partners remained to dance with.

"Aaaah!"

Another self-proclaimed tough guy screamed, clutching his shattered arm as he fell.

Thirty men had come. Now, half were down.

Outside the company doors, Liva had followed him out—and stood frozen, watching the entire scene.

She was stunned.

She had known that after that mysterious trip he'd taken, Xu Dan had grown stronger—but this strong?

He was a whirlwind, single-handedly taking on a whole gang.

That sheer, fearless presence alone could make any woman's heart race.

And now, he wasn't just holding his own—he was winning.

"My god…"

Liva covered her mouth, eyes wide, as she saw Xu Dan collide fists with a massive brute—two meters tall, easily three hundred pounds.

It was like a raw egg striking a rock.

By all logic, the egg should've shattered—Xu Dan's lean frame should've gone flying.

But what happened defied all expectation.

The egg met the rock—and it was the rock that broke.

Xu Dan's slim figure might as well have been forged of iron. When their fists connected, the crack of breaking bone echoed loud enough for Liva to hear from a hundred meters away.

If she guessed right, that thug's arm was finished—shattered beyond repair.

Even if doctors managed to save it, the man would never be the same. Not only could he never fight again—he'd feel that pain every time it rained.
