Chapter 51 - It was exhilarating.

With the success of Warcraft, word spread across the entire world.

In just fifty days, the total assets of Antarctic Games Company had doubled.

It was exhilarating.

Now, he could thump his chest with confidence and declare that he had crushed his competitors on all fronts.

In the past, the most famous game company in the United States had been Wind and Snow Company.

Although based in the U.S., that company was backed by a massive French multinational media group—an ancient conglomerate with roots as deep as Stark Industries.

But the world now spoke with strength, not background.

It didn't matter who stood behind Wind and Snow; what mattered was that they no longer had any title worth showing.

It seemed that from the moment The King of Fighters was released, "innovation" and "new gameplay" had become irrelevant.

After being baptized by visuals of that caliber, players around the world had become irreversibly demanding.

Once you've seen the vast ocean, every other river feels shallow.

After playing The King of Fighters and Warcraft, going back to other games felt like staring at mosaics on a grade-schooler's old console.

Humans are visual creatures.

What made it even more astonishing was that both games—each one—offered gameplay that was phenomenal. Practically flawless.

Beyond praising these two masterpieces, countless fans on the official Antarctic forums were eagerly anticipating the next release.

qq223FDS:Antarctic Dad, to me, there are only two games in the world truly worth playing for adults: The King of Fighters and Warcraft! Waiting for the next one!

OMGZING:Thank god I can finally say this! I used to be a game developer, and I always thought my games were fun—until I encountered The King of Fighters. From the very first second I launched it, my life was sublimated. I know I can never make a game like this myself, but at least I can play it to my heart's content. Now I'm a professional King of Fighters player. See you at the World Championship!

Heaven·zed:My family has always been open, so I've played games since childhood. But they always came and went—I've never seen a game like Warcraft! How do I put it… this game is a collection of everything I've ever loved. It feels tailor-made for me. Strategy, mechanics, brains—everything! Even the backstory of each character could be turned into a full-length novel!

Imperial Chariot:You're all toddlers upstairs! Has Curry Man died? Talking about brains—pure nonsense! Talk properly!

Scrolling through the forum messages, Xu Dan couldn't stop the smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

Now that Warcraft's systems had stabilized, he had deliberately simplified some mechanics to make it more accessible for new players.

He estimated that this single game alone could feed the company for five or six years.

One game. Five or six years of revenue.

That alone showed how extraordinary its success was.

But Xu Dan was not someone who felt satisfied easily. As his abilities and status grew, so did his ambition.

He had already begun outlining the next game.

At the top of the page were three letters: WOW.

That's right—World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft inherited the story of Warcraft, but its gameplay would be completely different—an online role-playing game.

From a map-based game to an open world, it would surely set a new industry record.

Of course, the production cost of World of Warcraft would be enormous and incredibly time-consuming.

Even with the shortcut provided by the special-effects optimization package, the models still had to be built before they could be enhanced.

And simply constructing those models alone would keep the team busy for ages—especially the technicians who had come from S.H.I.E.L.D. for training. They were completely unprepared for a project of this scale.

The difficulty was immense.

Not to mention the vast world, countless quests, and innumerable monsters.

Just drafting the world framework of World of Warcraft—if written as a novel—took him months, even when writing ten thousand words a day.

And there were still countless backstories, each serving as the basis for various quests.

Once all that was completed, he could begin programming.

This wasn't just making a game. It was creating a world.

And world-building required meticulous craftsmanship. Xu Dan was strict—unyieldingly so—when it came to the quality of his work.

It took more than three months before all the narrative scripts were finally done.

Next came actual game production.

He first distributed everything he had written to Liva, Skye, and Fire Dance.

If Goenitz weren't so obsessed with reading only the Book of Sages, he would have asked him to help as well.

Fire Dance, however, was a ninja—quick learning was her nature. After working at the company for so long, she was already familiar with its operations and could now manage a team of technicians on her own.

When the three received this mysterious stack of documents, they were completely absorbed. Fortunately, the company's workflow was well-established and their positions offered more flexibility; otherwise, something might have gone wrong.

That evening, when Xu Dan invited everyone out for dinner as usual, Liva was still engrossed in the thick stack of A4 pages.

If it had been a hardcover book, the scene might've looked elegant. But with her clinging to office paper, it looked for all the world like a boss overworking his employees.

Xu Dan refused to take that blame.

Suddenly, Liva let out a long breath, slowly set the papers down, and tilted her face toward the sky, eyes closed.

She read fast—while the other two were still only two-thirds through, she had already finished.

After a moment, she finally spoke."Wow. God. After reading this story… we might as well invest in making a movie!"

Her voice startled Skye out of her reading, but she wasn't annoyed—only excited."That's right! I also recommend the boss make a movie! With our special effects, I guarantee the box office would be huge!"

Fire Dance gave a faint smile but remained silent.

Xu Dan calmly sipped his tea as he watched their reactions.

To be honest, creating this material had been incredibly stressful—but once he completed it, the sense of accomplishment was immense.

"We might do that in the future," he said. "But starting tomorrow, I want everyone involved in the development of World of Warcraft. I don't want an extension of Warcraft. I want a vast world built upon the story of Warcraft itself."
