Chapter 149 - Speaking of mutants, this world is filled with them!

They exist in advanced metropolitan cities, and they also exist in backward African tribes!

Yet the more advanced the city, the more severe the discrimination against mutants becomes!

After all, in backward regions, brute force can still be used as deterrence—but in civilized cities, try that and see what happens?

Even mutants on the level of Magneto have been caught completely off guard by this turn of events!

Speaking of Magneto, his Brotherhood was not living on wild vegetables. When it came to intelligence gathering, their network was practically on par with the "Gang" from martial arts novels!

Through some unknown channel, he had actually learned that aliens had seized the Cosmic Cube and caused a massive explosion!

"It's here… it's really coming!"

The moment he heard the news, Magneto couldn't help but think of Xu Dan.

Back in Africa, they had attempted to kidnap Xu Dan—only to be thoroughly taught a lesson, a lesson learned beautifully!

For a long time afterward, Magneto had sent people to investigate Xu Dan from every possible angle, yet no useful information ever came back.

He had even suspected that Xu Dan was merely stringing the old man along.

Only now did he realize that everything Xu Dan had said was true!

"That alien—did he cause the massive explosion with his own power?"

"I… I don't know," a pointy-eared mutant hesitated as he answered.

This mutant's ability was unusual—his power was hearing, and he could even "hear" an entire scene.

He had clearly "heard" Loki emerge from the space gate, but as for what happened during the final explosion, he wasn't certain—because he had been afraid for his life and slipped away beforehand!

Receiving such incomplete intelligence, Magneto's aged brows furrowed deeply.

If that terrifying explosion had truly been caused by a single individual, then dealing with him would be extraordinarily difficult!

Moreover, Xu Dan had spoken of an alien army!

If one alien alone could cause such devastation, then once an army descended—wouldn't the world itself be destroyed?!

"Do I really have to go…"

Under normal circumstances, he would rather be beaten to death than entertain such a thought.

Seeking out Charles and joining forces? He would rather die than lose face all the way to his grandmother's grave!

But the current situation was no longer something Magneto alone could decide.

This was a battle over the fate of mutants!

It was also a battle over the fate of all mankind!

—Given the incomplete intelligence, this was the only conclusion he could draw.

He absolutely could not afford to take such a risk alone!

Just as he was hesitating, the mutant subordinate before him suddenly froze.

Then—he spoke Magneto's name.

"Eric. Long time no see."

Hearing this, Magneto slowly rose to his feet. He was well aware of his old friend's methods.

In this situation, it was obvious—Charles had invaded the mutant's mind and was speaking through him!

"Charles?"

He never imagined that Charles would reach out to him this way.

Don't tell me…

"Eric, we're in trouble. But this is also an opportunity. I wonder—can we temporarily set aside our prejudices and cooperate once?"

Charles had actually taken the initiative to bow his head!

And in a pleading tone!

This was a scene Magneto had dreamed of countless times—yet now that it had arrived, it left him unsettled.

"Cooperate once?" Magneto snorted coldly. "It's not like we haven't worked together before!"

"But the final outcome wasn't exactly pleasant, was it?"

He hesitated for a moment.

In that battle, Charles's spine had been injured, leaving him confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. That guilt had never completely left Magneto.

But he was still Magneto.

He quickly cast aside his hesitation and said disdainfully, "Enough nonsense. The Brotherhood of Mutants has already assembled. What about your little vigilante group—too scared to even come out?"

"No. In fact, we've already set out."

"You actually started before me?"

"There was no other choice."

Magneto exhaled deeply.

All this time, he and Charles had been locked in a silent contest. In truth, there was no deep hatred between them—only irreconcilable differences over the issue of mutant discrimination.

And now, once again, he found himself wavering.

Just as he was about to scold Charles for being underhanded, the mutant before him suddenly returned to normal.

Clearly, Charles had "gone offline."

Magneto felt like killing someone.

————————

Asgard.

The moment Loki appeared on Earth, Heimdall captured his location.

No matter what Loki intended to do next, as long as he appeared on Earth, Heimdall had to report it to Odin immediately!

After all, everyone had believed Loki died after falling into the abyss.

Only those who truly understood him knew that seeking death was never Loki's nature—at least, not now.

But on his way to report, Heimdall happened to encounter Thor, the God of Thunder.

"Hey, Heimdall! What are you up to?" Thor shouted casually.

Over the past few days, he had been having an incredible time gaming.

While everyone else spawned in Demacia, he had spawned in Noxus.

Which meant—he alone controlled the resources of an entire city!

At the start, he had declared that he would become the commander of Noxus. Though still some distance away, he was clearly on that path!

Although everyone knew it was just a game, once battle began, it felt no different from reality—completely igniting his blood!

These past few days had been truly exhilarating!

He hadn't experienced combat like this in a long time. He even felt that his real-world strength had increased slightly recently!

Xu Dan hadn't lied to him!

Just as Thor was feeling triumphant, Heimdall dumped a bucket of cold water over him.

"Loki has appeared on Earth."

"What?"

"Loki—he's on Earth."

"What?!"

Thor's expression changed instantly.

Although Loki had been cruel to him the last time, as an older brother, Thor could forgive him.

After days of training, he had long since let go of his resentment, choosing instead to blame himself for failing to save Loki.

But now—what was he hearing?

Not only was Loki alive, he had appeared on Earth?!

"It can't be anything good for Loki to appear on Earth. I need to go there—Heimdall!"

"I think so too."

As he spoke, Thor extended his hand, and Mjolnir came hurtling through the air from afar.

From Asgard to Earth—via the Rainbow Bridge—it was far faster than anything humans could manage!

"Hm? It seems like quite a few people are moving toward Loki…" Heimdall frowned slightly.

His eyes could see countless things—and right now, several forces on Earth were converging on Loki simultaneously.
