Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Taste of Blood

The first one that came in charged at them, for something so disheveled it moved extremely fast. Kala slammed her tail into the side of its head making it crash into a wall. If it wasn't for Kala predicting it charging at them it would've probably taken someone's head off.

Hirune and Tundra glanced at each other, if they were going to beat these things they'd need to be able to keep up with their speed.

"Tundra! Ice skating time!" Hirune said while pointing at the floor, one hand on her hip. He nodded and froze the floor with a light curtain of ice. As she charged at one of the creatures, it bolted at her, faster than before, she barely had time to think, she just lifted her feet and toppled over the things back mid-air, barely avoiding it. "Never mind! No more ice-skating ring! Please!"

"When did you get so much emotion? Also, I can't just get rid of the ice." He responded as he sent some ice spikes at the creatures.

Kala charged at the things and bit one, then as she went to hit it, she was sent into a wall with a simple back slap. Hirune focused, the Devourer Jaws had around 3 uses, but the uses were all either large uses, or long-lasting uses. So, if she made quick precise uses of it or small uses it, theoretically they should work longer. As she considered this, one of the creatures charged at her, she panicked for a moment then quickly decided to test that theory.

She reached her right hand at it, then quickly forced the jaws out. They came out rapidly, yet really large and devoured the creature whole. She fell on her knees holding her hand, breathing erratically, her eyes vibrating, and hand shaking.

The opposite of what she wanted to happen happened, at least to a degree. Sure, she killed the thing, but the jaws did the opposite of what she wanted to do. She slowly stood up.

"You, ok?" Tundra called out as he forced himself to make an extremely sharp ice spike that impaled the other creature.

She then started laughing like a maniac. She found it comedic that her powers did the opposite of what she wanted them to do. It was a hilarious first attempt to a degree, she kept on laughing for a bit, then suddenly stopped as she coughed up some blood. She kept on coughing, and coughing, eventually becoming vomiting; What was originally a little bloody cough, became her throwing up what seemed like an entire person's worth of blood. but she was still alive, a bit dizzy, but alive.

Tundra shook her as she was awfully still, "Hirune! Hirune you in there!" She looked up at him, licked some of the blood off of her lips. Made a face as if she was inspecting something, then smiled joyously. "It's not my blood. I guess that was the drawback this time, throwing up all of that thing's blood."

Tundra stared at her then sighed in relief, "You're a handful you know."

Kala just stared, she didn't really care much as she just sat there. Even though she barely did anything she seemed the most hurt. Ellen walked over to Hirune, "How come you laughed? Why are you smiling right now? How crazy are you, how much fixing do you need-"

Tundra cut her off, "Fixing? She probably just saved us by killing one of those things. How much of a piece of shit can you be to say she needs fixing?" He looked at Hirune's tired smile, "I don't know about you, but she seems perfectly fine to me."

Ellen stared at him, "alright, whatever you say. Just be careful around her." She walked over to Kala and helped her up while inspecting her injuries.

Tundra looked at Hirune, "You, okay? Sorry about her, she's very judgmental of laughing or smiling during dark situations or times. But don't worry, I understand that everyone has their reasons to act certain ways." She looked up at him and nodded as he wiped her mouth off with a tissue he had in his pocket.

She then opened her mouth to ask Tundra if he could bring her the book about Aka, but he was already on it as he brought her the book. As Hirune reached for it, the impaled creature blew up into blue flames. The shack starting to crumble almost instantly, Tundra quickly picking Hirune up princess carry as she held her book tightly. They quickly left and as they stepped out, they froze.

There was a weird mountain sized skeleton in the sky, the skeleton cutting of at its clavicle, being lit in a fire so bright it looks like the sun. The skeleton having a huge golden cloud underneath it, some red oval gems on its shoulder plates and the sides of its skull, and multiple steam like swirly wisps coming out of all of the spots the bones connect.

Ellen did a signal for them to stand back, then she looked up at the skeleton, speaking in Verachian, but it was obvious she was trying to keep it to a simple level of Verachian so Hirune could understand too.

"Oh, Sol, why did you decide to burn this shack while we were in it?" The skeletons jaw slowly opened, then without moving anymore it said, "Such important knowledge, must never be gained by the likes of mortals like you. The knowledge shouldn't even belong to most immortal entities and deities, but I can't decide that much."

The skeleton then suddenly changed back to English, "So, quit pursuing information that you don't want to actually know the answer to. Looking at you, kin of Namulenza." The skeleton disappeared in an extremely large swirl of flames that made it daytime for a couple minutes.

Hirune looked at Ellen, "Who was that?"

Ellen turned to her, "Kin of Namulenza huh? So, you're related to her in more than just artifact consumption? Go on tell me. I've got all day to listen."

They stared at each other, Hirune visually confused, she knew who Namulenza was sure, and she knew she had her artifact and shared the same last name as her, but if Namulenza was so old she wasn't related to her after so many generations.

"Ellen what are you-" She cut her off, "No, no, no. Don't play dumb. What you just saw was the sun god so don't lie to me now. In what way, shape, and or form are you related to Namulenza personally?"

Hirune stared at her, trying to process that. She didn't believe it, but it was the sun god, so it wasn't unlikely for it to be true. yet Ellen did believe things easily, and she didn't know if Sol even bothered to double check if he got his information right.

Then Tundra cut in, "Calm down Ellen, just because she might be related to Namulenza it doesn't mean that she's a different person all of the sudden. Let's just head back home and calm down, ok? It's not that serious." Ellen glared at him, then rolled her eyes.

Hirune couldn't help but think this was very unlike her, "Hey Tundra, catch me if I fall alright?" He looked at her, "What do you-" He got cut off by Hirune letting out a gut-wrenching scream as she forces the Devourer Jaws to eat the main structure of the shack, leaving nothing but the furniture and Ellen. Wait, why was Ellen in there? Tundra quickly looked behind them at Ellen. Why were there two Ellens?

***

Then suddenly Ellen no.1 that was inside the building seemed pissed as her eyes glowed gold, one second, she was in the remaining flames on the grass around what used to be the shack, the next, she was directly in front of Ellen no.2. "Dot Compression Form 1," she muttered before hitting Ellen no.2 in the stomach with a palm compression to the stomach, Ellen no.2's stomach being compressed into a splotch of blood that swirled and disappeared.

Ellen no.2 quickly recovered and coughed up a bunch of blood, then she ripped off her own wrist making the blood a bunch of spears that attempted to impale Ellen no.1 but she made a small black hole that consumed the blood then sent it at Ellen no.2. Ellen no.2 muttered, "Accursed Sacrifice to Aka 4th Cycle," as she got consumed by the black hole. Then suddenly the black hole rippled like water and blew up into blood, revealing Ellen no.2's real form.

She had long black hair drenched in blood, giving it a slight crimson tint in the moonlight, and rose eyes that had white pupils. A masochistic smile that seemed sadistic at the same time on her face, "Long time no see Ellen."

She glared at her and snarked, "How about you die forever this time Sangra!"

She giggled, "I'd like to see you try!"

Both Ellen and Sangra started sending blasts of their power at each other, now fighting in the air. Blood shot out of Sangra's feet allowing her to fly, and a bright light came from the hole in Ellen's chest.

Hirune watched, her eyes slightly shut. She could barely keep up with what she was witnessing, was this what a fight between 2 powerful beings looked like? If so, how would she handle things that large? Beter yet, how would she eventually deal with Demonia in the future?

Then the same voice that had told her the name of the burnt structure spoke to her in her head, "You're probably wondering how you'll do stuff like that eventually, and trust me it's a good question, but don't sweat it. If absolutely necessary, I can force a pact between us. Which, you don't know what that is yet, or what incantations are, which most of the abilities they're using are incantations; but you'll eventually learn those. Actually, section A1 row 5. Library back in the base, check it out when you go back." Then the voice stopped talking.

'What was that voice?' She thought, then she shook her head, that didn't matter right now, what she needed to do right now was watch and learn as Ellen fought this blood controlling maniac.
