Chapter 20 - Connecting Station: Bounty Target (III)

[SYSTEM: bonus rule

All rules that are in effects are now temporarily disabled for the rest of the train's ride!

Time until reactivation: 00:06:58:59]

I let out a smirk, this damned system was playing with me, isn't it? six hours of having to defend myself against species from probably another planet or even universe.

I sighed, looking as the crowd in front of me began to slowly walks towards me. Well this isn't good, I looked at where Aiko was sitting, she had no intentions of joining them…

Aiko seemed to notice me looking, she then looked back at me with a smug expression spread across her face. I sighed, I guess help won't be necessary, hopefully.

I pulled out my sword from its sheath, revealing the sharp metal blade underneath the brown cover. How come everyone I've met are so greedy?

All these creatures are willing to kill me for some quick money. The species that were infront of me, they weren't even human yet they possessed the same greed. Maybe these creatures kill for fun? Maybe they're blood thirsty?

I looked as they also pulled out their weapons. I'll have to be careful this time, I've never encountered anyone like these things.

I looked as one of them held tightly onto a sharp object, it then charged towards me while trying to say something.

"$/!&@:합₩&@&어!"

I looked as the creature swung its weapon at me, I swiftly dodged it, narrowly avoiding the attack. From that one slash, even though I dodged it, I felt as if it had sliced me in half. Seems like I'll have to invest some ranks into my stats then.

Swoosh! Claaang! Claash!?

I looked as sparks formed from the intense pressure of the two blades grinding against each other.

I grinded my teeth, pushing the blade forwards. I smirked, looking up as the blob infront of me show signs of discomfort.

Maybe I overestimated their powers? Was the trick it did just to weaken my mind?

Swoooosh! Clang! Clang!

My blade gracefully moved as if it was dancing with the evil beasts that were no good. I looked as it shined, if justice had a color, it would be this.

Just in a few seconds, the weapon the slime creature was holding fell out of its grasp. I looked as it retrieved back into the crowd, screaming out some kind of curse in its language.

I could've sworn, a second ago I was still in my seat, taking a nap and waiting for my stop. And now? I'm battling against the whole train or atleast the people that cared about the prize.

Either way, the past can't be rewritten and it wouldn't take a long time for me to run out of stamina if stronger beasts appeared.

I sighed, looking at the crowd. If they're so interested in playing, I'll put up a good game for them then.

[SYSTEM: the stats 「strength」 and 「stamina」 are upgraded to lv10! Now withdrawing 2000R]

This should be enough levels to deal with these beasts. I should be fine fighting them now.

As the notification screen closed, a strong force of energy rushed through my body, lending me a huge amount of energy.

I could feel as if I was being hit by a wave from the ocean. My grip tightened on the sword, this was the perfect amount of energy I needed.

As I swiftly dashed forwards, a small group of weak looking creatures began to team up on me. In a quick flash, our swords were clashing against each other.

"Fuck… how strong are they?"

At this point, the 2000 ranks I've spent on stats are useless. These creatures are weak for now, but, when they're fighting one-on-one but they're not too weak when teaming up…

There were a lot of them left, I could definitely keep on fighting but now that they're playing in teams against me I might have to call it quits soon. Having to keep this up for seven hours won't be easy.

As I was trying attack each of them seperately, a sharp metal rod flew my way, I looked as it in shock, dashing away.

I looked down at my arms, if I had noticed it just half a second slower, my arms would've been severed.

"Oops, I didn't mean to hit you."

I looked at where the sound could've came from and at the same time, attack the creatures. After a few seconds of not seeing any results, I turned back to the crowd.

Maybe it was just Aiko playing some dirty tricks? There was no way another human being could end up here. It couldn't be Riyu either… the voice sounds much higher, more like a girl's voice.

Either way, if it was Aiko, that wouldn't matter. Though the thing is… Why isn't she helping anyways?!

Does she really enjoy seeing me like this? I sighed, it would definitely be a bit easier with her.

As I stood there, distracted. I could hear something coming from behind. I grinded my teeth, seems like someone figured I had my behind wide open.

Damn it, I wasn't thinking of the possibility that I'd get injured that way. Getting distracted was so damn stupid.

I grinded my teeth and continued attacking, whatever's happening, I don't care. If that is my fate, then I won't fight back.

Swwiiish! Clang!

I turned around in surprise, Aiko was right against me, the girl shielded me from getting hit.

"Oi, old man, since when were you so reckless?"

I grinded my teeth, how could she do that? It's not like I'm even on her side. She's a wolf and I'm a sheep. Either way, only one of us is going to make it out here alive.

"Are you trying to prove you're not one of the wolves?"

"Who said I was one?"

"You said it yourself, though…"

How could she forget about that? I looked as she frowned and cut our conversation short.

"Focus now."

The girl dashed forwards, blocking the monsters that were behind my back as I moved forward and keep on beating the beasts.

I smirked, she was just as reckless as I was. I bet her parents had a lot of trouble in the old world having to take care of this troublemaker.

About her parents… I don't think these twins came in with anyone. Maybe their parents are still in Japan?

"And here I thought my brother killed you!"

I looked up at her as she smirked, blocking the creatures behind me. Seems like Riyu told her.

Of course he did, I just had insane luck. I sighed, trying to keep my calm as she smiled and continued her sentence.

"I knew you'd be able to beat that jerk, he's such a liar."

"Yeah, lying isn't good…"

I let out an awkward chuckle, going along with her. Seems like nobody knows about my death yet, let's keep it that way for now. Either way, I'm alive now so it doesn't really matter.

I took a deep breath as the last beast fell down from the first compartment. It wasn't too hard considering how the beasts were pretty weak.

I doubt that would be the case for the next few compartments. I sighed, seems like Aiko help was necessary after all.

I looked as Aiko began blabbering about the fight between me and her brother again. I frowned, it was getting quite annoying considering how she's still describing the details and telling me the things her brother most certainly told her.

I took a deep breath, wiping my sharp blade onto a piece if the curtains before opening the door to the next compartment.

Seems like these creatures saw the news too. They're all prepared already. I looked behind to see my defense system still yapping about the fight.

I sighed, I had no idea on how this girl is still describing it so detailed even if she wasn't there nor do I know how to stop her from talking. Maybe changing the subject would help?

"Hey, Aiko… Isn't what you're doing betraying your brother? You do know pretty well I'm a sheep."

Aiko pushed me forward into the crowd as soon as she heard me talk, continuing murdering ever other beast that were behind us.

I looked as she continued her killing spree. Seems like I got her to stop talking about it…

She was so thirsty for blood to the point that the whole compartment behind us is a bloody mess. Not even the beasts in front of us want to try and attack me from the back now…

"Oi, we're close to the driver's compartment. Do you think he's the one that wants you dead?"

I looked in front of me, through the messy crowd that was attacking, I could see a few compartments left before an end to the train. Looks like the train was shorter than I imagined.

"We'll get rid of the driver too then."

"Game on, old man."

I looked as Aiko dashed forwards, now taking the lead of taking out all of the creatures that were attacking.

To be honest, I was only knocking them out, trying hard to not injure those things, or atleast keep them alive.

On the other side, the representation of Mary… she's swinging her sword around like a blood-thirst madman. At some point, I might even believe Mary and Aiko are twins thanks to the personality.

It's good to have help, even if it's a bit violent. Aiko taking lead means I'll be the defense. I smirked, I've only known this girl for a while, though that is enough for me to trust her. During battles, at least.

I turned around, facing the opposite direction as Aiko. I should've been the one that was fighting, it's my battle after all.

Yet this reckless teenager was now guiding me towards the last compartment, the head of the train. The least I could do is defend her. I got your back this time, Kagami Aiko.

"Charge forward!"

She's truly built to be a leader. I wonder what kind of person she was in the old world. I shook my head, let's focus on getting to the end now.

Swooosh! Swing! Cliink! Klaang!

I looked down onto the ground as the liquids of the creature splashed onto my face. Seems like death wasn't avoidable, I guess I won't hold back this time.

"Don't forget to repay me, old man."

I wiped the blood ir what seems like it off my face as I continued attacking alongside with Aiko.

In front of us, from the next compartment, a humongous beast was charging our way. its fist covered in a type of venom that melts everything it touched.

It wasn't hard to tell thanks to clumsy monster. The door that it had been punching is already a slop on the ground.

Uuwaaaa!

My eyes widened in shock as Aiko dashed forward. Even with all that bright red warning signs that were so damn obvious, the girl chose to run towards it.

"Damn y—-!"

I looked as the teenager in front of me sliced a beast twice our size in half swiftly with the blade she had on her.

Seems like this is just the starter course, considering how weak these creatures are. I looked around at silent blood bath.

Bodies were spread across each compartments we've went through, people hiding out of fear. And here I thought I'd be able to get a rest…

I combed my hair with my hand, letting out a tired groan. How long will it take until the train arrives at the destination anyway?

"Yo, raisin, are you just gonna stand there?"

I was distracted by my thoughts again. As my eyes looked back at Aiko, my mouth started dropping.

One single girl alone was enough to defeat a whole compartment and assisted with defeating the other compartments without any signs of giving up. How strong is this teenager?!

I guess it made sense how I lost against Riyu if his little sister was this strong. I shook my head, trying to focus and continued going.

There's around three to four compartments left until we reach the head of the train. Hopefully I won't run into any burden…

I took a deep breath, walking in front of Aiko. The girl had enough time leading, this was my penalty, not hers. I'll be the one in charge from now.

[SYSTEM: timer

The penalty of the passenger 「Han Gyungho」 will be lifted in 「00:01:58:59」 !

The given bounty scenario will be lifted in 「00:01:58:59」 !]

I looked at the message and clicked to close the screen in front of me. My time here is running out, I need to get to the head of the train before that happen or atleast get out. I don't want to get stuck in this place.

I glanced back towards the girl that was letting out long breaths, stretching her arms and acting as if it was just another casual thing. I looked back towards the next compartment.

I was no different than the ones that put me in this dumb story. All these people or creatures or whatever they are all have places to be.

If this really is my only choice, I'll make sure I won't regret it.

"Let's go."

「??? Has entered the scenario as a spectator」
