.

Hank checked his phone; Charles had succeeded. He headed to the hot dog stand, where Bobby was paying for their lunch. The boy ran to his side and gave him the hot dog with onions and soda.

"Are we really going after this guy again?" Bobby asked.

"Emphatically, Bobby, Emma had the advantage of maturity," Hank shook his head as Bobby chuckled, pointing to a particular large part of Emma's body.

He hit him on the back of the head for it.

"Emma knew her mutation and its limits anyway, and despite her home, she remained admirably emotionally stable, enough to control a power that could have killed her or stolen her emotions entirely," Hank explained as Bobby bit into his food.

" Hafen fwe photo fat " …" the boy swallowed what was in his mouth and looked at Hank. "Couldn't he be doing that diamond thing with just his brain, you know, to keep himself steady? From what I've heard about the Frost family, it'd be hard not to get carried away by them. Mom's a drug addict, Dad's an overbearing jerk, the sisters want to kill you, and the brother tried to commit suicide," he explained.

"How do you know?" Hank asked.

"Christian Frost is one of my brother's idols, his story really put things into perspective for him," Bobby said.

"You know, Bobby, that actually sounds pretty clever," Hank smiled at him.

—So, do you think Emma will introduce us to her sisters?

A bead of sweat ran down Hank's neck as he sighed. The couple returned to ESU, where they had started a few clubs. Apparently, Gary Stewarts excelled at his kickboxing club. They walked toward the gym, where several students were practicing with the heavy bag. One of them was a brunette; she wasn't overly muscular, not even the prettiest. But every time she hit the bag, it was a perfect blow; she was good, and confident, to boot.

"Hi," Hank said.

"Hey, do you want to join?" he asked.

"Actually I'm looking for a member, I'm Hank, this is my brother Bobby."

"He's a brother from another mother, so it wouldn't be strange if you asked him out in front of me," Bobby smiled.

"I'm Fayth , who are you looking for?" he asked, grabbing a towel and wiping the sweat from his face.

"Gary Stewarts ," Hank said.

"Are you looking to challenge him? Because he's good, but I can already tell who's going to win," Fayth said , making Hank smile.

"I'm afraid I'm not a boxer. The works of Shakespeare and Hawkins interest me more than the exploits of Mayweather or Tyson," Hank stated poetically.

Bobby shook his head as he turned his back on Hank. He saw someone standing in the gym doorway: a girl with a top-notch model figure and a pretty face. As Hank continued his conversation, Bobby headed for the door.

"I do gymnastics too, though," Hank smiled as he spoke.

"No offense, but at your size..." Faith said , and Hank kept smiling, as if she knew.

—None at all, Faith . Are you a kickboxer ? —he asked.

"Mixed martial arts. I'm not very good, but I'm working on getting my self-defense instructor certification," she said.

Well, do you know Gary well?

I haven't known him for long, but he seems like a nice guy, a little ambitious, though at least he's not boastful. He has a girlfriend and a pretty large circle of friends; I wouldn't be surprised if he were volunteering at the club tonight. " Dazzler , do you know her?" Faith asked .

"My taste in music is a bit old-fashioned: Oasis, Elton John, Goo Goo " Dolls ," Hank said.

"Iris is a great melody and there's no generation that likes Sir Elton John. Are you a New Yorker?"

"I'm staying in Westchester, which feels like the closest thing to a small town right now. Nothing weird has happened with Gary, has there?" Hank asked.

"Define strange," Faith snorted , shrugging as she tousled her hair and pulled off her gloves. "Gary is the perfect man, something that, to be honest, not many people like. They're not cruel enough to be rude to your face, but they're intimidated by him. He'll definitely be a hit."

Hank nodded, smiling gratefully at the girl.

"Thanks. You know you asked me about the club earlier. I'm going to be in town a little longer, so some of my friends might be coming over. Would you like to meet up?" he asked.

The girl reached into her purse and pulled out her phone. Hank pulled out his, and the two exchanged numbers.

"I'll be chaperoning some of my younger sisters from other mothers, maybe your brother from another mother could get along with one of them," Faith explained , smiling as Hank laughed, laughed a lot.

"Speaking of which, thanks again," Hank said as he turned to follow where Bobby had gone.

The boy followed the girl he'd seen earlier. He stopped when she ran into one of the girls' restrooms.

"Damn," he said.

"What's the problem?" Hank asked.

"I think that girl might know Gary," Bobby said.

"I was talking to a girl who knows Gary."

"Yes, but 'he knows' he knows, you know?"

"Why should I know?"

"Because smart people know when people know people, I mean, really know them, like knowing what they know and what they don't know, you know, you just don't know that you know it right now," Bobby explained and Hank shook his head.

"Many people already know that, and besides, as you can see, he went into the women's restroom, we shouldn't..." Hank stopped mid-sentence, frozen in place, Bobby was no longer there.

There was a sudden squeak and a bang on the other side of the door.

"GO OUT!"

"Excuse me, do you know Gary Stewarts ?"

Hank sighed, he loved Bobby, but he would have preferred to partner with Scott.
