Chapter 260 - Chapter 262: Stood Up!

Yukiko was like a hurt little girl. She put her head on Heiji's chest and cried loudly.

It made people feel very sorry for her.

Heiji felt a bit awkward. He was the one who started this event. He felt bad that Yukiko had to suffer like this.

He put his hand on Yukiko's shoulder. He started to pat her slowly.

"Well, it is over now. Are you hurt?" Heiji asked.

The crying in his arms slowly became quiet. But Yukiko still held Heiji tightly. Her hands around his waist were very strong.

It was clear that she had not recovered yet.

"Let's go. Let's leave this sad place," Heiji said. He patted the woman in his arms gently.

Just then, Yukiko's phone rang.

"It is your phone," Heiji said.

Yukiko lifted her head slightly. There were tears on her face. Her eyes still looked very scared.

The phone kept ringing.

After a long time, Yukiko let go of Heiji. She answered the phone quietly.

The person on the other side was quiet for a second. Then they let out a deep breath.

"Mom, are you okay?" Conan asked. He was the one calling.

Yukiko's eyes got some life back. Her voice sounded much stronger. "Yes, Heiji saved me," she said.

"That is great," Conan said. He finally felt relieved.

"Little Shinichi, I am hanging up now if there is nothing else," Yukiko said. She needed to rest and recover.

"Okay, Mom, get some rest," Conan said. He hung up the phone.

Heiji shook his head nearby. Shinichi had a very high intelligence, but he was bad at being a son. Yukiko clearly needed more comfort right now.

Yukiko looked at the next number on her screen and frowned. She thought for a moment and then answered.

"Hello, Yukiko, are you okay?" Yusaku asked.

When she heard his voice, tears fell again. They looked like broken water drops falling on the ground.

"Yes, I am fine," she said softly. She tried to hide her sadness.

"That is good. Don't worry, I am coming there right now," Yusaku said.

Yukiko felt better. "Okay, I will wait," she said. Her mood improved after the call.

"Alright, let's leave this place first," Heiji said with a shrug.

Yukiko looked at Heiji and suddenly smiled. "Heiji, this is our secret. You are not allowed to tell anyone, or I will stop being your friend," she said.

Her voice was becoming playful again.

Heiji gave a small smile. "Don't worry. I will be the only one who knows you cried because you needed the bathroom," he said.

Yukiko's face turned red. She glared at Heiji. Then her eyes turned cold and she gritted her teeth. "Night Baron, I will not let him go," she said.

Heiji felt a chill on his back. He thought he should be careful with the Night Baron persona. That woman was not easy to deal with.

The two of them left the parking building together. They were now on the street.

"Well, Mr. Yusaku should be here soon. I will not stay and be a third wheel," Heiji said.

Yukiko paused and then nodded. She bowed deeply to Heiji. "Heiji, thank you," she said.

Heiji shrugged his shoulders. "It was just a coincidence. I am going now," he said.

He waved his hand with his back to her. He walked away slowly with his hands in his pockets.

Yukiko stood on the street. She was tall and beautiful, so many people looked at her.

Heiji turned a corner and disappeared into the crowd.

It looks like the mission is not finished yet, Heiji thought. He sighed and felt a bit annoyed. This S-rank mission was very tricky.

He needed a plan where the Night Baron actually faced Yusaku Kudo.

There are only three days left, he thought. He sighed again. "I will send a challenge letter first."

Yusaku Kudo looked at his phone. It was a strange number.

"Do you want to know why the organization killed Shinichi Kudo? Get to the police station in half an hour and you will know," the message said.

Yusaku frowned. He put his phone down and looked at Officer Sakata. "Officer Sakata, how long does it take to get to the police station?" he asked.

"From Umeda? It takes about forty minutes," Sakata said.

"What about from here?" Yusaku asked.

"From here? About twenty-five minutes," Sakata said.

"Officer Sakata, let's go back from here," Yusaku said.

"What? Aren't we going to pick up Mrs. Kudo?" Sakata asked in surprise.

"It is fine. I will let Yukiko go back by herself," Yusaku said.

Since it involved his son, he could not be careless at all.

Officer Sakata nodded quietly. He turned the steering wheel and drove toward the police station.

Yukiko was waiting quietly on the street. Her phone rang and she answered it quickly.

"Why aren't you here yet?" she asked with a small pout.

Yusaku heard his wife's normal voice and felt relieved. "Yukiko, I cannot pick you up. Something happened at the police station. I need to go back right away," he said.

He did not tell her the truth. He did not want her to be scared.

Yukiko was surprised. Then she felt sad. She tried to smile. "You didn't say that before. You made me wait here for nothing. I will not talk to you anymore!" she said.

Yusaku was stunned. He gave a bitter smile. He saw Officer Sakata looking shocked. "Yukiko is just like that. Don't mind it," he said.

Officer Sakata smiled.

Heiji was ready to go home after the call. He sat in his car and was about to start it.

He looked at his phone and smiled. "Are you home?" he asked.

"Hehe, I am home. I put the teacher in the guest room," Kazuha's sweet voice said over the phone.

"Good. Take care of Lawyer Kisaki. I am coming back now," Heiji said.

Suddenly, Kazuha's voice became very sweet and soft.

"Tell me, what do you want me to do now?" Heiji asked. When Kazuha spoke like that, it always meant she wanted something.

"Hehe, Heiji is the best," Kazuha said. "Heiji, I want to eat French bread and dark chocolate from Umeda."

Heiji nodded helplessly. "Yes, my dummy," he said.

"No, Heiji is the dummy," Kazuha said. She sounded very happy.

Heiji hung up and turned the car around. He had already passed the shop that sold the bread and chocolate.

Night fell and more people were on the street. A figure caught Heiji's attention. He frowned. "Yukiko?"

She was on the other side of the road, so he had to call her.

"Yukiko, why are you still here?" Heiji asked.

Yukiko was surprised. She looked around and saw Heiji on the other side of the street.

"Don't leave! Wait for me!" she said.

She hung up and ran across the street. She sat directly in the passenger seat of his car.

"Mr. Yusaku did not pick you up?" Heiji asked.

"I am not talking to him anymore," she said. Then, her tears started to fall again.

Heiji's face turned dark. Yusaku actually stood her up. This father and son were really the same.

However, he did not think about who caused this to happen.
