Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Gaining the trust of Akemi Miyano

The next day, as Heiji was going to stay, Kazuha returned first.

When Kazuha spoke on the phone with Shizuka Hattori, the truth slipped out. After finding out about the relationship between them, this future mother-in-law was anxious to see the daughter-in-law that she could see every day.

She had no choice but to return first.

Watching the train depart, Heiji suppressed the tenderness in his heart. Kazuha's reluctant gaze almost softened his heart completely.

"She's already gone, Heiji, stop looking. It's not like you can't see each other again," Sonoko joked by his side.

Heiji looked at Sonoko without words: "Hey, Miss Sonoko, do you plan to marry Ran? You're stuck to her every day, be careful that Kudo doesn't get jealous."

"Pff, that guy, Kudo, has a beauty and doesn't know how to take care of her, he only thinks about deducing all day. Since he doesn't value Ran, then, reluctantly, I will take her for my harem," Sonoko said while hugging Ran and laughing.

"Sonoko, don't joke."

Ran's face blushed slightly. She wasn't used to hugging people in public, not even other girls.

"Well, beauties, I'll leave you alone. I'm leaving first."

Heiji put his hands in his pockets and left with a carefree air.

"How handsome," Sonoko said, smitten.

"That's enough, Sonoko, don't even think about it. Heiji is Kazuha's boyfriend," Ran said righteously.

"Relax, I wouldn't try anything with my best friend's boyfriend."

"Good thing."

Ran didn't realize that Sonoko's gaze towards Heiji was very serious and contained a trace of tenderness.

After separating from the two girls, Heiji went directly to the Shiyou Bank.

After the one-billion-yen robbery, Masami Hirota resigned. Surely he wouldn't find her at the bank, but Heiji's goal was not to find Masami Hirota herself.

With ease, Heiji found out through the bank staff where Masami Hirota lived.

Ring, ring~!!!

Masami Hirota was packing her things when suddenly the phone rang.

"Hello, this is Masami Hirota."

"If you want to know about Shiho Miyano, come to the grove in the nearby park."

"Who are you?"

Beep, beep, beep~~

However, on the other side of the line, only the busy tone could be heard.

Masami Hirota furrowed her delicate eyebrows: The other person's voice is distorted, it can't be Gin. But, why do they know about my sister?

She hung up the phone, took a handbag from a drawer and from it, a pistol...

In the park, Heiji was leaning against a large tree. He wasn't afraid of being discovered; at that moment, not even Sonoko and the others would recognize him if they passed by his side.

Masami Hirota... no, Akemi Miyano, in high boots, entered the grove. She carried a handbag slung over her shoulder and one hand in her pocket as she walked slowly among the trees.

Everything was silent, only the rustle of the leaves moved by the wind could be heard.

"I'm here."

Heiji came out from behind a tree and met Masami Hirota's gaze through several trees.

A flash of surprise crossed Masami Hirota's eyes: This person is only wearing sunglasses and a hat, and it's impossible to see their face, you even forget their appearance in an instant...

This type of disguise is definitely not from an ordinary person.

"It doesn't matter who I am. Akemi Miyano, how about we make a deal?"

Heiji's voice was slightly hoarse and was permeated with a dark aura.

Akemi Miyano's face changed slightly and she tightened the hand she had in her pocket: "How do you know my name?"

Publicly, she had always been called Masami Hirota. Her true identity was an absolute secret; apart from the high-ranking members of the organization, no one else knew it.

"First, take the pistol you have in your hand, lest it goes off."

Heiji knew what Akemi Miyano had in her pocket without needing to look.

Akemi Miyano looked at Heiji in silence, moved a little closer to a tree, and said indifferently: "On the phone you mentioned Shiho Miyano. Are you also from the organization?"

"I'm not carrying any weapons, you don't need to look for a tree to hide behind," Heiji said calmly.

Akemi Miyano ignored Heiji's words and continued to look at him cautiously: "What is your codename in the organization?"

[Codename?]

Heiji froze for a moment, and a malicious smile formed on his lips: "My name is Becherovka."

"Becherovka?" Akemi Miyano frowned.

"Are you thinking that in the organization all the codenames are of alcoholic beverages and that you've never heard mine?"

Akemi Miyano tightened her grip on the pistol in her hand. She didn't know why, but she felt that the person in front of her was even more terrifying than Gin, from the organization.

"Gin sent you to find me, right? Where is my sister?"

The person in front of her was too dangerous; she didn't want to be in front of him for too long.

"Yesterday, when you went out the back door of the bank during lunch hour, you didn't go to eat. You took advantage of your position as an internal employee to have one of the masked robbers put on a bank uniform and invent an excuse for the armored van to stop ahead of time. The van can only be opened from the inside, but since the driver thought it was a bank employee, he took no precautions. The result, obviously, was that they succeeded very easily."

Akemi Miyano's delicate eyebrows furrowed. Those were the details of the armored van robbery.

"Of course, that's not the important thing. The important thing is that, after they left, they left the mask you used to cover your face at the scene. Not only did it have traces of your perfume, but also of your lipstick."

Akemi Miyano's heart lurched. Of course, she hadn't left that there.

"And the lipstick with your fingerprints was also found at the scene of another murder. What do you think that means?" Heiji said calmly.

"Did Gin send you to kill me?"

The signs were so obvious that Akemi Miyano was not a fool. All the evidence indicated that Gin... no, that the organization already wanted to get rid of her.

Heiji shook his head: "Quite the opposite, I've come to save you."

"Save me?" Akemi Miyano smiled coldly. "You are also from the organization. Have you ever seen anyone who has survived after being on the organization's death list?"

Although she was only an external collaborator, the little she knew of the organization was enough to make her despair. Unless the organization let them go, there was no possible escape.

"Yes, there is."

Who says no? That guy, Conan, is an exception.

However, Akemi Miyano misunderstood him.

"Are you a traitor to the organization?"

"Special D-class mission activated: Gain the trust of Akemi Miyano. Time limit: one day."

The mechanical voice of the system sounded without prior warning.
