Chapter 2 - Scary Monsters

There existed wild creatures of terrifying power, their heights ranging from three meters to an astonishing sixty. Their bodies were covered—everywhere except their hands, legs, and joints—in a substance as hard as stone. Their skin was most often white or red, and their jagged, monstrous teeth gave them a feral, nightmarish appearance. They resembled beasts, yet there was something deeply unsettling about them—something disturbingly human.

Some among them bore stones embedded directly into their chests, eerily similar to Konkai crystals. These stones, pure white or red and hollow within, were called "PureKonkai." What they truly were remained unknown, and only a small number of these creatures possessed them.

The Rosengards named these beings "Yajūni." Each one was a walking calamity—wild, merciless, and deadly. They roamed the land without purpose, driven only by instinct. Humans were their preferred prey, though animals sufficed when necessary. Their strength was overwhelming, their behavior dangerously unpredictable.

The Rosengards searched desperately for a way to deal with these giants. They sent their most skilled Konkai users into Yajūni territory—but most never returned. Those who did were broken, having achieved nothing. Many were simply too weak.

Yet Sandriel refused to yield.

She vowed to strengthen her dominion, to expand it—and if necessary, to tame these beasts and bend them into weapons for her own army.

She settled near the borders of Yajūni territory and formally transformed her dominion into a kingdom. Four years passed. Despite relentless campaigns, only seven Yajūni were slain. Their true nature remained a mystery.

Time moved forward. A royal palace rose from the sands. Houses, farms, and workshops followed. Life within the Rosengard Kingdom began to stabilize.

Until one day...

A white-skinned Yajūni, towering twenty-four meters tall, approached the kingdom's borders.

This one was different.

It bore horns—and a Pure Konkai embedded in its chest.

The Rosengard soldiers immediately took formation, weapons raised, eyes locked onto the advancing giant. Each step it took sent tremors through the ground.

Then something impossible happened.

The Yajūni began to shrink.

Its massive frame compressed inward, bones folding, stone-like flesh receding. Smaller. Smaller still.

Until, standing before them, was a young man—no more than nineteen. White hair. Lean muscle. Piercing blue eyes that gazed calmly upon the soldiers.

They froze.

"What in the world… is that?" one whispered.

Confusion reigned, but instinct took over. Seizing the moment, the soldiers charged.

In response, the being calmly aligned his arm.

In an instant, a colossal limb erupted outward, expanding violently and seizing the soldiers in a massive hand.

??: "I didn't come here to fight. Bring me Sandriel. Otherwise, you'll be abusing my goodwill and trust me, destroying you would be far easier than you think."

(Sound of sand condensing)

The disturbance had already reached Sandriel.

Using the sand itself, she formed a distant replica—an illusion bearing her likeness—and spoke through it as though she stood there in person.

Sandriel: "Well then, young man... you could have asked more politely."

Sandriel'sinnervoice: I like his power. This could be useful.

??: "Sandriel! Stop attacking us. We are far stronger than you. In four years, you've only managed to kill seven Yajūni. Pathetic. Give us food, stop your assaults, and we'll spare your lives"

Sandriel: "Hahaha! Don't underestimate us, child. What makes you so sure numbers alone make you superior? Or that we haven't evolved?"

?? : "Hah? Confident, are you? Woman, I could erase your entire kingdom just by summoning a few Yajūni."

Sandriel: "If that were true, why haven't you done it already? Clearly, something's wrong—otherwise they wouldn't have sent you. I thought Yajūni were mindless beasts… yet here you are, fully conscious."

??: "Grrr! That's none of your concern! Don't you dare mock me, woman!"

The sentient Yajūni enlarged his arm and hurled a colossal punch.

(Sound of the giant fist)

(Sound of scattering sand)

The sand surged upward, coiling around his arm and restraining it completely.

Sandriel: "See? Look at you. Weren't you supposed to be strong? Calm yourself. Let's make a deal. But first—tell me your name, child."

Inside the palace, Sandriel seated herself upon her throne. Moments later, a soldier wielding the Emerald Konkai bound the Yakazuna's arms and legs with glowing emerald chains.

(Sound of drooling.)

Sandriel: "Speak. Lie to me, and killing you here will be effortless."

(Yakazuna inhales sharply.)

Yakazuna: "We… are starving. Our food sources are nearly gone. Human food helps, but it's never enough. The more you attack us, the faster our energy drains. We eat fish from the icy lands—most of us die trying to break the ice. Leave us alone, you scoundrels!"

Sandriel: "You've caused us endless suffering. Leave you alone? No. But I know you're exhausted. That's why I won't stop attacking… yet. However—we can negotiate."

Yakazuna: "A deal? Fine… speak."

Sandriel: "Who leads you? And are all Yajūni conscious? Some appear different—abilities, perhaps?"

Yakazuna: "Our leader is my father—Kyōzuna. Only those with Pure Konkai are conscious. The rest are mindless. I have horns—I can command them. We conscious ones are called Mōjin. On behalf of the Mōjin and Yajūni, I propose peace."

Sandriel: "Peace? You'll have it—under my terms."

Yakazuna: "You mock me?"

Sandriel: "Kneel—or die. Listen carefully. You Mōjin will serve under my command. I will feed you. I will not attack you"

(She gestures toward the livestock farm outside)

Sandriel: "This is abundance. More than enough. I can expand it further."

Yakazuna: "…Not all Mōjin are united. Many are our enemies. I cannot control them all. But my tribe—if my father agrees—we will submit.""

Sandriel: "Then you will protect us from the others. In time, they will destroy themselves."

(Sound of emerald chains scattering.)

Yakazuna returns to his father and recounts everything. Reluctantly, Kyōzuna accepts.

The Ultim Mōjin tribe now serves the Rosengard Kingdom.

As for the other Mōjin tribes—

They turn to the Morghen birds.

Magnificent creatures with six-meter wingspans, eagle-like forms, and terrifying strength. They dwell near Yajūni lands. Which will bring disaster to them.

The Mōjin tribes outside of the Ultim tribe begin feeding on the Morghen birds. They consume them so voraciously that the birds start to dwindle rapidly. There is nothing anyone can do…
