Chapter 79 - Retreat

Thick, sticky liquid rained in all directions, one corrosive and the other capable of hardening in seconds, trapping its victims.

Sero had managed to temporarily immobilize Magne with his tape, but Mr. Compress took him by surprise and he was now a hostage, just like Pixie Bob.

Kaminari managed to fry Mustard in a suicidal charge, which resulted in his brain becoming useless, and now he wandered around like an idiot while Magne and Mr. Compress defended themselves against the rain of acid that Mina and Monoma threw at them.

None of the students dared to engage in close combat with a guy capable of exchanging blows with Tiger nor approach the villain capable of capturing them in a blink.

But this standoff couldn't continue, and Monoma's time was running out.

—Hnggh, get out of here now!— Tiger growled from behind, protected by a small wall of Bondo's solidified liquid.

—With all due respect, Tiger-San, shut your mouth!— Mina hissed through gritted teeth, glancing sideways at Monoma and Bondo, nodding in complicity.

Suddenly, the girl with pink hair and skin jumped out of Bondo's protection, charging head-on toward the exhausted villains while expelling small amounts of acid.

Magne smirked, clearly seeing through the students' foolish strategy. She also ran towards Ashido Mina.

However, Mr. Compress also jumped into action, forcing Mina to deviate her path and let Magne pass. The woman circled the wall of solidified glue and quickly jumped, avoiding Bondo Kōjirō's poor attempt to immobilize her.

—Rookie!— she mocked, ducking just in time to avoid Monoma Neito, who had jumped from another direction intending to tackle her.

That resulted in Bondo and Monoma being right next to each other, and within Magne's range.

Activating her ability, the villain caused both students to be violently repelled from each other, resulting in Bondo crashing into his own glue wall and Monoma being pushed away a great distance.

However, Magne made a terrible miscalculation: She didn't consider Monoma, or his Quirk.

From the beginning, at Mina's suggestion, the Class 1-B boy didn't openly display his ability, and after hiding behind the wall created by Bondo, both coordinated their acid launch to give the impression that only Mina was using up her reserves.

So neither Magne nor Mr. Compress recognized Monoma nor remembered the scant information they read about him or his Quirk.

The moment Monoma felt the repulsive force and Magne turned in the direction of Bondo, who was closer to her position, he unleashed a large amount of glue behind the woman's back.

At the same time, Mina surprised Mr. Compress, who expected the girl to be at her limit given the large amount of acid she had thrown.

—Argh!— the villain groaned when his hands and forearms began to sizzle, the burning increasing second by second and his clothes being ruined everywhere.

Without him realizing it, Kaminari stopped acting like an idiot and lunged at his side, making contact and unleashing the little charge he had left, losing his sanity for the second time.

Flashes of light momentarily blinded Mina, making her step back a couple of paces and cover her eyes. That was a mistake on her part.

Although potent, the electricity wasn't intense enough to take down Mr. Compress in the same way it happened with Mustard.

The man narrowed his eyes behind the mask and shot towards the acid girl with the intention of compressing her as well.

Fortunately for the student, a gate of darkness appeared between the two combatants, swallowing Compress in an instant and making him disappear.

By the time Mina regained her vision of the surroundings, Compress was gone, and Mustard was also enveloped in darkness.

Unnoticed by her, a Hero flew near their position and clicked his tongue, changing direction and speeding away towards another combat zone.

—Leave me alone, damn it!— Abura spat as his chubby, greasy legs propelled him at a ridiculous speed for someone his size, crashing into trees and cracking their trunks, even knocking them down.

Behind him, a hard-headed lunatic charged like a runaway horse, while the annoying brat threw spheres at him that exploded and released some damn detergent or something, almost completely eliminating his oil advantage.

That had been the fault of one of the brats the stupid fog guy threw on him, a bitch with the convenient ability to create materials.

Abura had been wondering if this supposed League of Villains was some government operation to catch criminals red-handed, because it was absurd that they had left him with such a combination.

—What's wrong, pig!? Exhausted already, can't your heart take the pressure, do you need fries or something!?— the slender Terumi Mei shouted. Abura's eyelids twitched and he dug his feet into the earth, spinning on himself and slamming a devastating punch into the surprised Kirishima.

The student received the impact with his forearms, but the force was such that it broke through his guard and the fist crashed into his face, violently spinning him backward.

—That's offensive, you little witch!— the man replied with fury and indignation, directing a poisonous look at the girl he had tried to subdue and kidnap.

He quickly regretted stopping his run, as Mei threw more of the damn detergent onto his body, which made his skin less greasy and susceptible to the kunoichi's dangerous tool.

In an instant, Mei was one meter away from Abura with the kunai tracing a horizontal arc, about to be thrown and sink into his bare flesh.

But a gate of darkness got in between the two and a Nomu that the kunoichi had already seen emerged from it, with a hole in its stomach and an expression as ugly as the wound.

Although their function was to block the Satetsu, they were still monsters almost 2 meters tall with decent physical strength.

The Nomu blocked the projectile with its body. Indifferent to the small blade that was stuck in its flesh, the creature charged at Mei and gave Abura time to escape.

—Don't mess with me, what disgusting plot convenience— she muttered listlessly, jumping backward to avoid being crushed by the Nomu's punch. Her eyes lost interest, not at all enthusiastic about the idea of facing another Nomu.

A flash of movement above the trees caught her attention and Mei decided to seize the opportunity.

—KYAAAAA!— she shrieked inconsolably, stunning even the bio-engineered monster. —Help, somebody help me!

Mei began running in the direction where she perceived the intruder, smirking smugly when he descended at a not-inconsiderable speed, but one she could handle.

Pulsing chakra at the right moment, she abruptly changed direction and traversed several meters in an instant, appearing right beneath the flying enemy.

Upon identifying human skin and more or less common clothing, the kunoichi determined it was a person, specifically a man. A man, with testicles.

Her right hand formed a tiger palm, and her wrist twisted. In a matter of microseconds, Mei fired her deadly attack and intercepted the villain's crotch, sinking her claws and twisting her wrist to the opposite side in a spin that even crocodiles would find brutal.

Her task done, Mei released the disgusting organ and moved quickly from her position, confused not to notice the Nomu's charge.

Ignoring the pitiful, choked whimper of the villain who crashed into a tree, the kunoichi searched for the monster but didn't find it. She shrugged, assuming the portal cheat took it away.

—Kirishima, attend to this scoundrel!— she barked orders at the blockhead who was recovering from the hard hit, shaking her hands while expelling water from her seal and rinsing them.

She pretended not to hear Kirishima's gasp of surprise, nor the murmur about a Pro Hero as he approached the poor devil writhing on the ground.
