Chapter 25 - Chapter 24: Ability Improvement

Alex Carter looked at the four badges in his hand, wondering how far Ash and his companions had progressed.

In the original story, Ash never smoothly obtained a badge from a Gym; he always struggled.

Either he lost the first time, only winning on the second attempt after giving his all, or he succeeded after receiving guidance or a sudden insight.

While returning to the Pokémon Center to restore Muk and his other Pokémon's stamina, Alex casually boasted to Nurse Joy about how he had utterly defeated Lt. Surge. Seeing the envious look in Joy's eyes, Alex felt that being a Villain with such powerful assistance, allowing him to rapidly enhance his Pokémon's abilities, was quite advantageous.

Yet, despite this, Alex couldn't help but feel some worry.

Having transmigrated from another world, the Pokémon world was fascinating, but he needed to grow quickly. His father was a ruthless man, the mastermind behind Team Rocket, who lived incognito in Pallet Town for over a decade. Why?

There were too many mysteries; just thinking about them made Alex's head spin.

Since he was here, he might as well make the best of it. Since he had arrived in this world, he might as well develop himself thoroughly here. Returning seemed distant, so it was better to be a formidable Villain in this world, one whose name struck fear.

"Let's focus on the immediate future. Things were smooth before, but defeating Vermilion City was unexpectedly difficult. I need to find another place for Haunter and the others to absorb the abilities of wild Pokémon."

Alex walked to the forest edge and, in a sparsely populated area, took out his spaceship. Inside, he noticed it lacked some daily necessities. After all, in this world, he needed to eat and drink.

Thinking this, Alex asked the System, "System, are there items in the point mall that can improve the spaceship's functions, like adding food and drinks? Such a large intelligent spaceship should have some humanized features, right?"

"Yes, the Host can exchange points for all items in the spaceship. The System recommends a function: by deducting points monthly, it can automatically replenish items inside your spaceship. This requires 10,000 points per month," the System's cold voice replied.

"Okay, I'll take that. This function is like a VIP subscription on a video platform."

Controlling the spaceship, Alex arrived at a bay near Vermilion City. He bought another nether water orb and placed it on the beach. With the waves, the orb was swept into the sea. After a while, the orb floated to the surface, emitting a faint blue light.

Ripples appeared on the distant sea, and waves of Pokémon surged towards the shore: Magikarp, Krabby, Tentacool, Horsea, Goldeen, and more.

Alex took out a sun umbrella and a rocking chair from the spaceship, releasing all three of his Pokémon.

Seeing that the Pokémon on the beach were ordinary in combat power, Alex let them absorb energy independently.

Haunter used Hypnosis and Confuse Ray, causing many Water-type Pokémon to lose their combat ability.

Meanwhile, Shiny Muk continuously wriggled, using Body Slam, crawling towards disoriented Pokémon. Before they could react, he absorbed them. Beedrill, using Double Team, attacked with Pin Missile, then devoured defenseless Pokémon.

Haunter also began to devour. Initially, Alex found these scenes cruel, and even now, felt some reluctance.

However, in any world, the law of the jungle is unchanging. As a Villain, he must improve his abilities through effort.

In the Pokémon world, Villains face arrest and attacks from protagonists; different Villain organizations also clash.

In this region, there isn't only Team Rocket; there are also Team Magma and Team Aqua.

Everyone has ambitions and won't cooperate. If interests conflict, a major battle isn't out of the question.

In this world, Alex's father holds a high Villain position, so he must have many enemies. Therefore, as his son, Alex must have enough ability to protect himself, ensuring he doesn't burden his father.

Thinking this, Alex's resolve strengthened, urging Haunter, Muk, and Beedrill to quickly absorb and enhance their abilities.

From morning until evening, when the sun set, Haunter, Shiny Muk, and Shiny Beedrill improved significantly.

Alex checked the System. Shiny Beedrill's combat power reached 850 points, Shiny Muk's reached 900, and Haunter's improvement was even greater, reaching 970 points, with 70% evolution value. However, none learned new skills, which displeased Alex.

After retrieving the nether water orb, Alex summoned the System again.

In the Pokémon world, skills aren't only learned through combat power; Pokémon can also learn skills through TMs.

After some selection, Alex chose Poison Jab for Muk, Grass-type Energy Ball for Haunter, and Bug-type Leech Life for Beedrill. These three TMs cost Alex 60,000 points.

After completing this, as Alex prepared to leave, a Tentacool on the beach caught his attention.

"System Alert: Within a 15-meter radius, there is a Tentacool: a Water/Poison-type Pokémon. Tentacool is a jellyfish-shaped Pokémon, entirely blue, with a diamond-shaped nose. On both sides of its head are two large transparent objects resembling red agate, and a slightly smaller one in the center of its forehead. The lower part of its body has two gray tentacles, and most of its body is made of water.

Learned skills: Poison Sting, Acid, Bubble Beam, Barrier, Water Pulse.

Combat Power: 450

Evolution Value: 0"

This Tentacool's combat power was notable. Seeing it, Alex remembered that Ash and his companions would soon face the giant prehistoric Tentacruel and its Tentacool army invading the city near Lan Prunchi.

Capturing a Tentacool was necessary. Perhaps he could speak to the giant Tentacruel, earning Ash's goodwill, making future misdeeds easier! Moreover, Tentacool had the Poison attribute, and its evolved form, Tentacruel, was also a Dark-type Pokémon.

With this in mind, Alex had Haunter use Hypnosis to quickly defeat Tentacool, capturing it with a Poké Ball.

"System Alert: Successfully captured the Poison-type Pokémon Tentacool. Poison-type Pokédex unlocked Pokémon count +1. Reward: 1000 points."

Capturing these Poison-type and Dark-type Pokémon triggered hidden quests. It made sense; as a Villain, his Pokémon couldn't be too singular; otherwise, opponents with type advantages would suppress him. Even his father wouldn't have only one or two single-type Pokémon.

"But why doesn't this Tentacool have special abilities?" Alex asked.

"Host, not all Pokémon have special abilities. Some wild Pokémon need ability enhancement through normal means. Otherwise, do you think I am this world's god, letting you do as you please?" The System's cold voice carried a hint of sarcasm.

Alex scratched his head sheepishly. As he was about to recall his Pokémon and return to the spaceship, something unexpected happened.
