"Gyarados, are you okay?" Alex asked anxiously.
"Roar~" Gyarados shook its head, indicating it was fine.
"Alright, Gyarados, let's get ready for battle!" Alex reversed his cap, looking incredibly cool, which made some of the young girls in the crowd scream.
The intense battle had everyone cheering, some supporting Alex, while others cheered for Qing Shui.
"Charizard, Encore Aerial Ace!" Qing Shui commanded.
"Gyarados, Hydro Pump!"
"It's no use; your speed can't keep up with my Charizard," Qing Shui said with a confident smile.
"Hmph, is that so? Gyarados, spin with Dragon Dance!" Alex suddenly commanded.
"What?"
Gyarados floated into the air, spinning its body, while the Hydro Pump it unleashed created a swirling water screen around itself.
Charizard's speed was affected and decreased.
"Charizard, don't be afraid! Use your speed to defeat it!" Qing Shui urged himself to remain calm.
"Gyarados, not yet! Wait a little longer... now! Aqua Tail!"
As Alex watched Charizard approach, he suddenly commanded Gyarados to change its attack.
"Bang!"
Charizard was hit in the neck and sent flying, its entire body covered in injuries.
"How could this be? You actually hit Charizard!"
"Naturally. My Gyarados used Dragon Dance several times, increasing its attack power and speed, so it could naturally hit you," Alex explained.
"Charizard, use Brave Bird with full power!"
"Gyarados, use Spinning Aqua Tail with full power!"
"Bang!"
Both Pokémon were sent flying backward simultaneously, resulting in a clear double knockout.
"Gyarados!"
"Charizard!"
Both Alex and Qing Shui shouted for their Pokémon.
"Both sides have lost the ability to battle, so this match is a draw. Please bring out your last Pokémon for the final showdown."
Apollo said with a smile, clearly pleased with the evenly matched battle.
Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, Alex felt a hint of regret. It seemed Gyarados's strength wasn't high enough yet, having only managed a draw with Charizard. It still needed more training.
If Alex knew that Charizard had been personally trained by a high-ranking Team Rocket member, he probably wouldn't have criticized his Gyarados so harshly.
"Damn it, this Charizard, trained by my uncle, couldn't even beat his Gyarados—just a draw," Qing Shui thought silently, fantasizing about defeating Alex.
"You go, Haunter!" Alex called to the floating Haunter beside him. "After watching so many battles, you must be fired up, right?"
"Hiss!" Haunter waved its claws, looking very excited.
"I'm using Poliwrath," Qing Shui declared, throwing out a Poké Ball. With a flash of white light, a muscular figure appeared before everyone.
"Ding! Poliwrath, a Water-type and Fighting-type Pokémon. It is the evolved form of Poliwhirl. With strong muscles on its arms and legs, Poliwrath does not experience fatigue. It excels at freestyle and breaststroke swimming and can briefly walk on water.

"Are you giving up by bringing that out? Fighting-type moves cannot hit Ghost-type Pokémon. Don't you know that?" Alex said with a teasing smile.
"Is that so? Then you just wait and see."
"Poliwrath, use Mind Reader, then Karate Chop!" Qing Shui commanded fiercely.
Poliwrath's eyes changed color, and it quickly dashed forward to deliver a powerful chop.
"Bang."
Haunter was sent flying directly.
"How could this be?" Everyone present was stunned.
"Haunter, are you okay?" Alex asked anxiously.
"Hiss~" Haunter shook its head, indicating it was fine.
"Didn't expect that, did you? Poliwrath's Mind Reader ensures that the next move will always hit, regardless of whether you're a Ghost-type Pokémon or not. So, you'd better prepare for battle," Qing Shui said with a mocking smile.
"You're tough," Alex replied.
"Poliwrath, Bubble Beam!"
"Haunter, Energy Ball!"
"Bang."
Haunter's Energy Ball was several sizes larger than usual, directly breaking through the bubbles and flying toward Poliwrath.
"Poliwrath, dodge quickly! Use Submission."
Qing Shui quickly commanded Poliwrath to retreat. Energy Ball is a very powerful Grass-type move, and if hit, Poliwrath would likely lose its ability to battle.
"To dodge that attack, you'd actually make it use such a self-damaging move," Alex said, glancing at the clearly injured Poliwrath after its Submission.
"That's still better than getting hit by your Energy Ball."
"Poliwrath, Mind Reader, then Seismic Toss!"
"Haunter, don't give it a chance! Use Double Team!"
"That move again? Then Poliwrath, use Bubble Beam with full power."
"Trying to obscure my vision, are we?"
Seeing the colorful bubbles on the field, Alex's mouth twitched. This was a move his Tentacool often used; seeing it used in front of him felt like a demonstration of one's skills before a master craftsman.
"Haunter, go against the waves! Shadow Claw!"
"Swish."
After floating in the air for a while, countless Haunters suddenly rushed into the bubbles at super speed.
Is he crazy?
Everyone in the arena thought this.
The Bubble Beam move didn't look very powerful, but it would explode, and the sheer number of bubbles created a chaotic scene. After this series of explosions, wouldn't any Pokémon lose a layer of skin?
So the question came: was Alex foolish?
Clearly not.
Looking at everyone's astonished gazes, Alex's lips curled into a cold smile.
Only the Double Team Haunters that crashed into the bubbles were blasted away and disappeared. The real Haunter, however, had somehow wrapped itself in layers of vines. This protective layer shielded Haunter from the effects of Bubble Beam, allowing it to charge straight toward Poliwrath.
The next moment, Haunter appeared before Poliwrath, its two giant Shadow Claws poised to strike.
"Poliwrath, block it, then follow up with Seismic Toss!"
"Do you think I'd let you have your way? Haunter, Hypnosis!" Alex commanded with a smile.
The Haunter in front of Poliwrath suddenly disappeared, and the real Haunter appeared from behind, directly hypnotizing Poliwrath.
"Alright, game over! Psychic!" Alex clapped his hands.
"Bang."
Haunter's eyes glowed blue, and Poliwrath fell from the sky to the ground, creating a large crater. Poliwrath immediately lost its ability to battle.
"I lost."
As Poliwrath fell, Qing Shui collapsed to the ground, drained of all strength, his face filled with dejection.
